When I fly single Player Missions I can use all of the George AI Functionality for the CP/G while flying in the Backseat. So my Key Bindings are OK. But when I fly alone as a Pilot on a MP Server, George won't switch Weapons. I can only select Salvo Length for the Gun and give George Clearance to Attack Targets, but the "left Click" to switch between Weapons won't work. Am I missing something?

When I issue Commands from the RIO Seat to the Pilot via the Jester Menu, the Pilot confirms the Commands with Things like "Roger that", but he doesn't follow the Commands, like turning, ascending and descending. What am I missing?

Brothers of MS FFB... this is gonna be painful....
TheFlyGuy replied to bostar's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
You won't need any Freepy/Python Stuff, because thats exactly what the Modifier Function in DCS Controller Mapping Dialogue is for. Just specify any Button on your Device (or Key on your Keyboard) as a Modifier, and you can assign two function to any other Button on your Device. One Functionality without Modifier, and another one with the Modifier Button pressed. -
Making Things realistic is of course the right Direction, but nobody here knows whats realistic when it comes to the Flight Model of the Harrier. For me it feels strange that a VTOL Aircraft can barely make a VTOL Takeoff without any Weapons and 50% Fuel on Board, without consuming half of the Water on Board. For me it seems believable that the Harrier would Hover in such a Configuration at 102 - 104% Engine Power without using any Water at least for a short Period of Time. Maybe the max. Takeoff Weight for a vertical Takeoff has been too high before the Patch, but now its definetly too low.

I'm using a Reverb G2 with a RTX3070 Graphics Card and 32 GB RAM. When I start DCS World and go straight into a Mission everything is fine, and I can play most of the Time with > 40 fps. The Graph in the SteamVR Overlay is always green with some occasional orange Bars. But everytime I leave the Mission and restart it from the Screen with the Mission Log, or when going back to Main Menu or Mission Editor and restart the Mission, after returning into the Cockpit I get 10 fps at most, and the SteamVR Graph is completely purple. This Problem is absolutely 100% reproducable on my Rig, and this happpens with every Mission on every Map with every Aircraft or Helicopter I own. So I have to close DCS completely when aborting or finishing a Mission a restart the Program. Then the first Mission I fly is OK again, until I restart it. The only very strange Exception from this Rule is when I fly a Campaign. Then I can fly one Mission after another without any Frame Drops.

February 2021 and I'm still (or again) facing exactly the same Problem kam depicted in his Screenshots above. This Bug makes it currently impossible to advance with most of my MI-8 Campaigns from the DCS Store. As soon as I have to transport some Slingload (currently I'm playing the Oilfield Camaign) this Bug means "Game Over" for me. I just can't "feel" any Weight from the Cargo. Even when I lift a 7000lb Humwee there is no "Resistance" when the Line is tight, and a heavy Cargo swinging like crazy doesn't effect the MI-8 at all. Also I can Hover forever over the same Place, but my Cargo swings like crazy until the Rope tears apart. There is no Damping in the Swing Movement at all. I am really expirienced in transporting Cargo with the MI-8, but currently I can't deliver any Cargo over a greater Distance without loosing it.

Thanks.

I'm trying to set up some SAR Missions for Helicopters, where Players can transport Body Strechers as Slingload. When the Helicopters roughly approach the Accident Scene, I switch on a Smoke Marker to guide the Pilot to the Scene. But when the Helicopter is very near to the Place where he should take the Slingload I want to switch the Smoke Marker off again, because after selecting the Body Strecher as Cargo from the F10 Menu there is too much Smoke all around, because the Cargo also gets marked with Smoke. How can I switch off Smoke Markers with Triggers?

There is a Shader Mod available, that helps with the NVG Brightness in VR. The Mod should also improve general Performance in VR. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 I'm using this Mod by myself, and for me Night Vision is greatly improved in VR.

I don't get it: Suddenly I can't laser Targets anymore. In the Aiming Sight on the TV Screen there is only the word "dist" instead of the Distance to the Target when I press the Lasing Button. Of course the Cover of the Laser Button is in the upper Position, but I can't get rid of the "dist" Message. What am I missing? Nevertheleass I hit far away Targets with my Missiles, but the Distance to the Target isn't shown after pressing the Lasing Button.

I would really appreciate - if it would be possible - to have an Option in the F10 Menu to skip the first part with the Frigate. I tried this mission twice, and after flying for already 90 Minutes the hard Part begins at the Bridge (or at least shortly before the Bridge with the first engagement with Ground Troops). First time I've got shot down (shit happens), and the second time I landed on the Bridge, but the Mission didn't go on. I had no clue what to do next. So I've already invested 3 Hours of Flying Time, with absolutely no Progress, and no Challlenge (personally for me) until I arrived at the Bridge. I really don't want to wait a third time for takeoff clearance, fly to the Frigate, wait until Wolf 1 has done it's job, return all the way back to the Airfield, and then fly into the combat Mission. This takes far too much time. It would be nice if I could simply start my Flight at the Airbase going straight into the Valley. Otherwise please split this Mission into a Flight Training Mission (flying Formation, land on a Frigate), and a second Combat Mission in the Valley.

Is there any ongoing development on the Flight Dynamics of the Edge? I mean it looks absolutely stunning, but the Flightmodel is really lacking any gyroscopic effects. So much power, but you don't need any rudder input during takeoff run. You can climb vertically into the sky without any Aileron oder Rudder input. I've never flown an Edge in RL, but every Cessna in every Flightsimulator is harder to handle like this overpowered plane.

[NO BUG] Jester Menu doesn`t work anymore for me
TheFlyGuy replied to TheFlyGuy's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK, already solved! With the Release of the Supercarrier I reactivated my Voice Attack/VAICOM Stuff, that I haven't used for quite a while, for the additional SC Commands. In Voice Attack the Joystick Settings prevented the Jester Menu from working. I had to reconfigure my Joystick in VA and now the Jester Menu is back. -
Sorry if this has already been asked: I don't know if this is related to the latest update of the DCS Open Beta, but since I've updated and installed the SC, the Jester Menu in the F14 doesn't work for me anymore. Neither my Joystick Binding nor the default Keyboard Command "E" works. Of course I haven't changed the Keybinding. Example: Fresh Start of DCS World, going directly to the Navigation Tutorial Mission that asks me to set Steerpoint 1 through the Jester Menu, but I can't open the Menu.

Sounds very, very interesting, but "requires pure client" :( Especially as a helicopter pilot I like it very much to use some modded assets to create my own rescue missions in the DCS mission editor, i.e. I use the "Civilian Objects" lib, but also a couple of other ibraries, that I only use in Single Player. Therefore my installation isn't "pure" of course. No modded planes or modded textures in use. So: Sorry unfortunately no SRS Server for me.

I would not recommend to start with the Flaming Cliffs "easy" modules. I tried DCS World at least five times in the past couple of years, and always ended up wiping it from my SSD, because of the SU-25T "Frogfoot" tutorial, that bugs me with things like "press LCTRL + Pos 1 to turn on the battery, then press RALT + whatever to blabla....". I can guarantee: You will never remember all these shortcuts. The more you can operate directly in the cockpit the easier it is to remember the sequence of actions needed to start and fly the plane. I finally got hooked to DCS with the F14 module one year ago, that allowed me to do everything in the cockpit. Especially if you don't have a HOTAS System with a bunch of axis and buttons to map the most commonly used actions directly to it, to get rid of the keyboard shortcut hell. With a Logitech X-56 you will still need to remember a lot of these shortcuts in a Flaming Cliffs module. So do yourself a favor and get a high fidelity module of your choice to start with.

Migrating from Steam to Standalone help
TheFlyGuy replied to InkWithGold's topic in New User Briefing Room
Well I did the same thing for the same reason a couple of days ago, but I downloaded the whole game from the DCS servers again (the OpenBeta in my case). Because I already own a lot of modules I wanted to be smart, and copied my "config" folder from the Steam installation to the new installation so that I don't need to setup all the controls for all my modules again, and redo all my preferred in game settings. Guess what? No modules available, not even the module manager icon on the main menu. Then I found the "_backup.000" folder you mentioned, copied the config subfolder from inside "_backup.000" to the DCS main folder, and now the module manager icon appeared in the DCS main menu, that allowed me to redownload all my purchased modules, theaters etc. from the DCS servers. Best thing: The input configurations, my own missions etc. where all still there, because they are stored in my user profile inside the "Saved Games" folder. There was only one more glitch: The Steam version stores everything in a sub folder called "DCS World", even if you use the open beta version of DCS. The standalone version uses different folders for the stable and the beta version. So in case you use the DCS open beta you need to copy everything from "DCS World" to "DCS World OpenBeta" in "Saved Games". P.S: I can see in your screenshot from the main menu, that you are also missing the module manager icon that would allow you to reinstall your modules. Same problem I was facing as stated above. -
How can I change the language of the game?
TheFlyGuy replied to TheFlyGuy's topic in New User Briefing Room
Well, it wouldn't hurt to play the game (and listen to the tutorial instructions) in my first language. But whenever I watch tutorial videos about DCS on Youtube, all references to control actions are given in english (like "scs depress"). Sometimes the translations of these commands are - lets say - "creative" and I often need to search for quite a while to find the right command in the localised version of DCS. Thats why I would like to change the language of the game from time to time, just to setup my controls, and then switch back to my first language. -
How can I change the language of the game?
TheFlyGuy replied to TheFlyGuy's topic in New User Briefing Room
Perfect! Thank you. -
I'm from germany, so my DCS World starts in german, even if my Windows is set to English as default language. Sometimes it's hard to guess the german translations for actions during the configuration of input devices, therefore I would like to switch to an english GUI. I haven't found any option in the settings menu to change the games language.

OK LCTRL + T isn't bound to anything by default in my F/A-18. Could you please tell me the name of the action that triggers the smoke from the control menu? I've searched for "smoke" or the german translation "rauch" (I'm playing with german GUI) but can't find anything that matches. EDIT: Found it. I had to map a key-command or joystick button manually. The german translation is a bit strange, as it translates to "Fog" not "Smoke".

The Question was about how to operate the Smoke Generators. So if I get you right, it's only mounting the Smoke Generators at the rightmost pylon, and pressing LCTRL + T ? Or is there more to make them work, like master arm on, AA mode, selecting a specific "weapon" with the weapon selector switch?
-
Could anybody please explain how the smoke pods in the F-18 work? I've read somewhere that they are activated by pressing "S" on the keyboard, but that doesn't work for me. I'm talking about the official smoke generators for the F-18, not the smokewinder mod.
