  1. Exactly that. They solicited orders from this forum. Then they seem to stop communicating on the forum when they have our money. It was one of the factors behind me choosing to cancel my order. If I spend £1k (inc taxes etc) on some equipment I expect to be communicated with if release deadlines are missed. I can accept some delays on a new product launch, but I can't accept delays combined with radio silence / lack of communication from the vendor. That said, the refund process was painless.
  2. That is not much good to people that DONT USE FACEBOOK!!!
  3. Well, check through your email messages and your PayPal receipt emails for information. Otherwise just send alex an email, if you haven't already. I would expect he would be helpful. He certainly was not obstructive to me in any way.
  4. On 17 October I send Alex at Winwing an email asking to cancel my order due to missed delivery deadlines. The same day I escalated to Paypal, but I made clear that I had also contact the retailer. Paypal don't get involved initially and ask you to communicate with the vendor. I quoted the order number that you can find on the account management area of the Winwing website when you are logged in. Alex responded to me very quickly (within 24 hours I think). He explained the delay and offered me a choice between refund or wait a bit longer; I opted for the refund. The funds appeared back in my account after about 7 days. (After authorisation it takes time for PayPal to refund your credit card. I think the refund is faster if you used money in a PayPal account to make the initial vendor payment as you don't need to wait for credit card company processing of the money sent by Paypal.) In summary, Winwing was professional, polite and fast implementing the refund. No complaints from me. Hope this helps.
  5. Very often stainless steel stock (sheet metal) gets rusty while being stored (outside) before it is being machined, cut, punched and folded. It should be protected by plastic sheeting, or a thin oil, but mishandling during storage outside can scratch the plastic and expose the steel to the elements. Or otherwise just being left outside in the damp for too long exposing it to rusting. It is all part of quality control really (for the manufacture and for them to keep an eye out and demand high standards from their materials suppliers). I am not saying this is the problem here. I had no idea, and no information about what materials are being used and how they were stored in this situation. And it is none of my business.
  6. Yeah. Stainless steel resists rusting more than mild steel, but you should still protect generic stainless steels from moisture. Marine grade stainless, or more expensive exotic steels or super alloys ARE highly resistant to rusting and effectively are rust proof. But they are much more expensive, sometimes more difficult to machine and specialised materials.
  7. Yeah, okay then. Not memory. But worth checking.
  8. I've not read the whole thread, but I have a suggestion that could help: check memory usage. CPU bottleneck could be because it is data limited. If you are at only 16GB, is the CPU waiting on the memory controller to shuffle information in and out of virtual memory? Moving to 32GB in such a scenario would give you a HUGE performance boost.
  9. Agreed. Let's leave it there.
  10. You don't sound like you've taken it badly. And there was me thinking that you were complaining about a lack of buttons on the stick.
  11. Cool: please give first impressions when you have the chance.
  12. The dog ate my homework. LOL.
  13. My Virpil order was stuck in the postage system in Lithuania and Poland (intermediate shipping location) for AGES. One it moves from Poland things happen faster. It sucks. I just think you need to do something else for a couple more days!
  14. There are already lots of products in the market with lots of buttons. If you want buttons why don't you buy one of those if you don't already have one. This is a replica. Different intention for the product. Frankly a different market to you - clearly. No insult to you. But you are clearly not the target customer. I suspect VKB and Heatblur know their target better than you. I'll be buying one.
  15. Yeah. But he didn't ask that. Besides Winwing has said that while the initial purchase is a complete HOTAS system, they will consider selling the throttle separately at a later time.
  16. Winwing has an antenna elevation control.
  17. I think that the point that the Noobifyer was making was that you should put the correct screws back into the positions that they originally came from. In other words, if you take the base apart to adjust, fit new cams or new springs, just put things back in the correct place. Basic mechanics and assembly, really. Most people that have the brain power to fly a virtual F/A-18C will have the brain power to refit screws without breaking anything as long as they don't rush and pay attention to what they are doing. Besides Noobifyer always says be careful of "this and that" in all of his videos where he takes something apart.
  18. This looks like exceptional work. Well done. I'll be looking forwards to getting one of these. I don't have a Gunfighter base: will you be building up a stock of these to meet demand for people new to VKB hardware? Anyways... pretty excited to see this. Oh... one question: what mechanism is there to verify F-14 module ownership?
  19. Ditto. For the price of the HOTAS system it is crazy not to include both CAM options. It the customer is unhappy with 1 set of CAMs, to order a new set it is not just the expense of the CAMs but also another fee to DHL, FedEx, more customs fees and more handling fees. So something worth maybe £10 ends up costing the end user £60 or so.
  20. ::crickets::
  21. Ahh, I misunderstood you. Turns out we are in agreement. My apology.
  22. Totally wrong. Misrepresentation. Winwing did not have a Facebook profile when I purchased the HOTAS. They sold it here on the DCS forums and on their website. Since then they have missed their deadline. They have not provided timely updates on the DCS website or their own website to tell us what is happening.
  23. i don't use facebook. PERIOD.
  24. Well, it is great to see this progress. It is very nice to these these cast components being finished to such a high standard in CNC machines. And from the stage were are at and can see "September" does not seem totally unrealistic. Encouraging.
  25. Icemaker: thank you for the link to your interview. I look forward to reading your impressions of the test HOTAS.
