I've sent them an email this morning too. So far no response.

Winwing, 1) 3 weeks ago you updated the community to say that delivery of pre-order products already paid for had been delayed 2-3 weeks. And you also said that you would ship the first batch of products in early September. Well... it is 3 weeks since and it is now early September, but still you have not provided any information about what is going on. You really need to improve your communication. 2) I also notice that your website (https://www.winwing.cn) is now showing "bad gateway". Conclusion: Paypal might get my request for a refund later today unless I very rapidly get clear signs of progress and intent to deliver on your promises. I'll see what kind of response I get from you first but I am not willing to be taken for granted when spending over $1,000 (cost to me after shipping and taxes.)

There is one thing - in particular - that you should check before committing. The Team Vulcan RAM that you found there is a very good price for 2x16GB of 3000 MHz CL 16 DDR4 memory. However both builds on_PCPartPicker_using that RAM were Intel systems. So far I have only build Intel systems (although if starting afresh today I would probably choose AMD) so what I am saying is that I have no direct experience of what I am about to say, but you should be aware / check it out: From what I have read, Zen was particularly fussy about what OEM RAM modules where used on RAM DIMMs. (I am talking about the underlying lithography... Samsung, Hynix etc, not the retail brand... Corsair, Team Group etc). Some worked. Some didn't. This brought a whole new degree of complexity to selecting fast RAM to go into your system. What you need to do is check the support _section_of_MSI's_website_to_see_if_that_RAM_module_is_on_the_qualified_vendor_SKU_list._I_suspect_not.__In_case_you_are_wondering_my_Apple_keyboard_spacebar_has_just_given_up!!!__I_will_have_to_continue_on_another_computer.__Damn_Apple_and_their_stupid_keyboard_design.

I realise that you are translating from French into English. So maybe it is a translation issue. However "news" in late September does NOT work for me. Winwing said on post 302 (here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4007684&postcount=302) that there was a 2-3 week production delay. The original delivery dates was the end of August. That date plus 2-3 weeks means delivery by 2nd or 3rd week of September. Not "news" by the end of September. I would expect that we would have heard news from them significantly before 2nd or 3rd week of September to let us know what is going on. Having said that, it has been 15 days since their last communication on the forum. I think that I will wait a little longer, maybe give 3 weeks total from post 302 (so 3rd September). If they haven't already updated us by then, I will ask them to provide another communications update.

Winwing did publish some drawings of the grip and throttle on their own mounting brackets. However, these drawings don't have the dimensions that you would need for pit integration: they only show dimensions including clearance with their mounting brackets. (Just for reference, they are here, but like I say I think they are not suitable for the dimensions needed for sim-pit integration here - https://shop.winwing.cn/p/JOYSTICK_en.html) However, I think the best thing you can do is send a message to Alex at Winwing. You can reach him on: info@winwing.cn

I've been catching up with your website and all the work you've been doing on F/A-18C sim pit design. Impressive work, attention to detail and craftsmanship to say the least. Taking note of your comment above regarding specialist machinery required to do a good job on the throttle and joystick I just wanted to check that you were aware of this HOTAS product promised by Winwing in China? Link to forum posts here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=241976 This product was originally due for shipment 31 August, but the latest word from the manufacturer is that this is 3 weeks late. I've got a set on order. I wonder about the extent to which this could be integrated into your Sim-pit designs? Anyways, keep up the fantastic work. I will be following all this with great interest.

Thank you for replying to my email from this morning to update the forum: appreciated and no doubt reassuring to people. As to the delay itself: don't worry... I think most people will be tolerant of some degree of delay when you are bringing a new product to market. And speaking personally, I'd much rather it be done 'right' rather that 'on time, but at the expense of imperfect/ poor quality'. Personally, I don't use Facebook and I have no intention of doing so. I can't stand the company. For other people that want to communicate with you on there: fine. Your and their choice. But you initiated pre-order sales through the DCS forum: please would you continue to communicate with customers on this forum? One specific question I have is regarding the throttle afterburner detent. On the video currently on Youtube of a prototype there seems to be very little travel within the afterburner zone. Is this modelled accurately? I though that there was a range of throttle movement within the afterburner zone of the throttle movement in the real aircraft. Or was this just a prototype issue, that has been changed on subsequent evolution of throttle design? Cheers, Milou.

Err, that was very weird. I've been trying to solve this for hours, and just as I was trying to tag some screenshots to include here Vaicom and DCS suddenly synced. I don't know what I did differently, but I'll take it. No questions asked! Now I have a different problem: the Rift S microphone as Vaicom is not getting a clear enough signal to hear what I am telling it to do. Ahh... it's all fun!

Hey folks. I've been trying to get my Rift S working with Voice Attack. Big problems! I've tested my Rift S microphone on Skype's "record and playback a message" feature: one huge problem seems to be that - at normal speaking voice - the recording playback is 1) very, very faint 2) also has white noise / static in the background. This means that whatever voice signal is being picked up is being drowned out by white noise. So my questions: 1) Is anyone else having the same problem? Is everyone having this problem? 2) Is there a work around or a fix in some obscure setting somewhere? 3) Anyone else get Voice Attack and Vaicom working on their Rift S? Basically any advice appreciated. Thanks.

This reply was 1 week ago. You said that you would provide an information update this week. Please can you do so and provide answers to the previous questions, or at least some visibility into progress?

That would be nice. More like a smoke and a drink in the Porsche.

Warning to All!!! F-18 warthog flight stick
Waxer replied to Jason S's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
To all these people blaming the user: I think you are being unfair to him. Fact is that Thrustmaster are using a very low quality material for that ring mechanism at the bottom of the Warthog grip. The material is prone to metal fatigue and brittle fractures which is what has clearly happened in this case looking at the way the material failed. To add to the poor material choice, the design is also poor: it has a relatively narrow neck with a near 90 degree corner close by which would cause a build up of stress: over months of use this would amplify any existing micro fractures in the material and contribute towards a brittle fracture. Sure trying to remove the grip caused the fracture, but if the materials choice and design had been right in the first place then the grip would have been removable using moderate force without causing a brittle fracture. -
I am using Slaw V2 pedals. Very pleased with them. I had been using twist stick previously, but so glad I got these now that I am getting into the Tomcat more (and that is something where you need the rudder pedals a lot).

Err... I imagine this is kinda obvious, but is the TPOD currently only available on the stand alone version / non Steam version of DCS? Or is there some Beta test opt in switch that I need to select? I am itching to use the Hornet TPOD, but it has not updated my client with the new functionality yet.

Yeah. It is very positive that there is a choice of good products available in the market each catering to slightly different sensitivities and at different price points. From your list, I can see why you might want the Index. But - for example - seeing as my IPD is almost identical to the Rift S IPD, I don't need adjustable IPD. But I can totally understand why someone with different IPD would benefit from the Index.
-
I've currently got the Rift S: it is a pretty good first impression for me using VR. I just got notification from Steam this morning that my Index preorder is ready for payment / shipping. I kinda figured what you just said... that for the extra £500 it would be a marginal upgrade on the S, plus the additional faf of having base stations in my room. I think I will pass. Quite happy to spend more to upgrade my VR, but it needs to be a clear upgrade not a marginal one. The technology seems to be moving so fast currently that I'd rather depreciate a £400 set over a year than a £1000 set over a year.

Thanks for getting in touch Winwing. (The flight school installation looks impressive in scale and scope: a very nice facility for trainee pilots.) I look forwards to additional information regarding your F/A-18C HOTAS from you next week.

Well, how to summarise all this? I agree that it is a bit of a risk preordering with a company with no track record of serving this community. However Winwing does already produce products for flight school markets / the non gaming SIM sector so the analogy to a kickstarter is not really fair / valid. My PayPal contract states that I have 180 days to lodge a dispute so if Winwing continually misses deadlines then I will just log a dispute with Paypal. Indeed, I would not have risked $1k on a bank transfer without any recourse such as that provided by Paypal. The guy that worked for Boeing... yes you are right of course. Anybody with business experience knows that this rule of thumb carries quite a lot of truth. Even more so with software development. But with hardware too. I wonder why Winwing has been so quiet over the past couple of weeks? He used to log on here quite regularly in advance of the preorder, so now they have got a chunk of money / customer deposits it is disappointing if the attitude to customer communication has negatively changed. Usually no news, is not good news in these situations... usually means something is messed up, gone wrong, is late, or whatever and the vendor usually waits until the last possible moment to tell the customer "whoops, we are going to be months late". Edit: I sent Winwing an email, asking them to - albeit briefly - update the community on their various deadlines and various questions. Hopefully we hear back from them. Winwing, if you read this please update the community: 1) Your website says 15-31 August for the Shanghai launch event. This time window is only 2 weeks away now: are these dates still valid and can you be more specific... what day exactly? 2) Which testers will be getting samples? Do they have them already? When are the reviews coming out? 3) Do you have a product demo Youtube video of the throttle, similar to the one you did for the grip? 4) Are the first batch of deliveries still scheduled for "before 31 August"? Hopefully you see this message and have opportunity to respond. It is better to communicate with customers, even if there is a delay so that you can manage expectations and avoid customers being disappointed.

Any news on this?

Yeah... it has gone very quiet. Any news Winwing?

Problem With Getting i9 9900k OC To Stick
Waxer replied to Tinkickef's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I am using an EVGA board myself and I am not familiar with Gigabyte BIOS, but I will try to help. Have a good look through the BIOS settings on the CPU page and make sure you understand what is set to auto and what is set to manual. Make sure anything to do with CPU multipliers is set to manual. Also make sure that you don't have any Windows overclocking software running which could be overriding the settings you made in BIOS. Also make sure that Windows power saving settings are set to "Performance" and off "Balanced" or "Energy Saving" whatever it is called. If still no joy, consider asking your question on the Overclock.net forum. There are a lot of great people on there with specific knowledge of Gigabyte BIOS who will be able to help you. -
Nice little business for Delta Electronics. 2165 @ £40ish... revenues of £86,000 or so. I imagine that margins are quite good. Good for him for spotting this little niche and designing something that works nicely. For anyone on the fence about whether it is worth an upgrade, yeah... I think it is worth £40. Thrustmaster dropped the ball and this guy picked it up and ran with it.

If your order was taken, then you get a confirmation email from Delta Simulation Electronics titled "Order #2052 Confirmed"... well 2052 was my order number, but you get the idea. If you did not receive such an email then maybe there is a problem with your order, or maybe you need to check your junk mail folder?
-
This thread helps you understand that. I am order 2052. Just received today. My installation also took around 15-20 mins: it was easy... just follow the instructions. I probably had the most problem with calibration... do a search for Thrustmaster Warthog Calibration v1.07 to find the exe you need. That took me as long as the install itself to figure that out. Now I am playing around with DCS curves to get the TDC sensitivity just right for the Hornet. Thanks to Delta Sim: it is a nice product. Good design, good instructions (but maybe link to the calibration software would be useful) and actually very well manufactured (high quality 3D printed parts, not low quality prints and beautifully soldered PCB... very professional... makes Thrustmasters PCBs look like amateur hour). Not inexpensive, but a worthwhile upgrade. Well done.
