  1. That's the specification, but it seems in the real world JDAMs are more accurate than they were designed to be - achieving a CEP of about 7 meters. The point is still completely valid, JDAMs in the real world do not seem to be accurate enough to reliably score direct hits on tank sized objects. That, and cost, is probably why the GBU-12 still seems to be the preferred US weapon for "tank plinking." GBU-54 and DM-SDB may be changing that now though.
  2. Performance hit or not, being able to identify targets at 40 miles is about the realistic limit for modern pods anyway. The main thing that should be done is just make the terrain load-in look better.
  3. They are working on a data cartidge system, it got mentioned in the 2021 newsletter today, but we won't see it for a while. What sorts of things are you looking to save? Some things can be done right now with some simple .lua file editing, most notably EW programs. Some other things actually aren't customizable in the Hornet at all, like which pages get opened in specific master modes.
  4. No, I don't think so. Mission specific subtitles are set by the mission creator, and I think the system subtitles are baked into DCS.
  5. If you need to immediately stop countermeasure deployment for safety reasons, flip the respective dispenser master switch for that countermeasure to off.
  6. Just posted an update to this which adds the Warthog throttle, the TM Hornet stick, and a combo file with the Warthog stick and throttle. I did these two without any help just using internet photos for reference, so they might have some mistakes in a few places. Let me know if you find something that's wrong.
  7. The TGP has two zoom controls: A toggleable optical lens zoom switches between wide and narrow field of view (FOV) using the pinky button on the stick, and a variable digital zoom is controlled by the Manual Range rotary axis on the throttle.
  8. On the whole, all FLIR rendering is a bit optimistic in DCS right now. That should, hopefully change whenever we get the new FLIR rendering system. But, most of the complaints about poor lock-on performance come from the A and B Mavericks, which used much more rudimentary seeker system and had a fixed FOV. The D and subsequent versions are significantly better.
  9. Hollow red triangles on the radar are datalink contacts from the AWACS and not detected by your radar, which is why you can't lock them. They're either too far away or outside your radar scan volume. In Missile override mode the radar works the same way as in A/A mode. In practice it sounds like real Viper pilots rarely use the normal A/A master mode, and usually use the override modes depending on the range of the engagement.
  10. I'm not positive how it works with the moving target modes, but generally designating a spot on the A/G radar with the TDC designates that fixed location in space and does not track any specific radar return.
  11. Careful - say you don't care for the A-10 HOTAS too loudly around here, or on Hoggit, and you'll get burned as a heretic I agree with you. I think there are too many required button presses for most common attack flows, and too many of them are long presses. Long press to set SPI, long press to change SOI, long press to slave to SPI. The F-16 and Hornet are much simpler, and faster to use, while still being extremely effective. I think some of it has to do with the fact that the A-10C was the first high fidelity jet with a HOTAS in DCS so a lot of people started with it, and then it becomes the standard by which everything else is judged. I was flying Falcon 4.0 long before I sat in a virtual A-10, so the Viper's HOTAS is my standard by which I judge everything.
  12. If you have radio frequencies in channels, the easy way is just to run the radio in channel mode. To switch modes, hit the COM button on the ICP, then Enter. You'll now see a channel number rather than a frequency on the main page of the DED for that radio. You can now dobber down to the channel number and increment and decrement it just like the steerpoint number without needing to go back into the COM page.
  13. Alright, I am back working on this after the holidays and getting distracted by Cyberpunk 2077. Just uploaded another update. Version 2.3: -Added Mission 0, a prologue at the start of the campaign. -Changed all JDAMs carried by Hornets to the Navy versions. -Fixed a mistake in Mission 11 scoring that prevented the campaign from progressing. I've written another 3 missions for this campaign which I hope to get finished in the next week or so. After that I will build a Cold Start version of the campaign, and then some 4-player coop versions of missions.
  14. So I can remember what I'm doing when I jump between planes I made a bunch of illustrated quick reference guides for HOTAS commands for the modules I own. I figured I'd share them in case others can find some use for them as well. Though I have to admit I don't actually own the JF-17 yet, I spent a bunch of time in it during the free to play periods and made these to help me learn. They may not be as polished or correct as the others though. You can download them all here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314231/ While I was at it, I also uploaded my kneeboard checklists for people too: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3314229/ Apologies if you see this post in multiple places.

  19. Not totally ghosts ... I had a head-on collision with one just yesterday while trying to land on a road.
  20. Both GMT and DBS/SAR use the same radar transmitter, receiver, and antenna, it's the way in which the signal is processed which is different. GMT works in much the same way as the A/A radar does: it uses Doppler shift filtering to distinguish moving targets from the background. The DBS/SAR modes use an algorithm to analyze the way radar returns shift as the angle of an object changes relative to the radar's path of motion to increase the effective angular resolution of a radar map. Because the angle to an object directly ahead of the radar will never change as you fly towards it, this method of processing only works at an oblique angle to either side.
  21. The AI wingmen should be pretty useful now. Especially in Mission 2. There are 6 boats and 4 helicopters total, plus a pair of MiG-29s which have a random chance of appearing (but aren't mission objectives). So you certainly missed a few. The campaign also should let you progress without a perfect score. Are you playing the most up to date version?
  22. I think this is meant to be posted in the F-16 forum section?
  23. Agreed, I don't think that's a thing that's possible in the real jet or in DCS.
  24. That makes sense, as Reset deletes all radar track files.
  25. There is an option in the mission editor to set which helmet device the aircraft starts with.
