  1. I'm assuming this refers to the Hornet. Wouldn't it be different for the Tomcat as unless the CADC is over-ridden you cannot set half flaps, so presumably you would set full flaps.
  2. I can't understand the objections to this as an option. No-one who uses DCS is actually flying, dropping bombs or shooting down enemy planes, we're all just pretending. An easy AAR option for those who(for whatever reason) cannot do it can pretend also. And if that increases their enjoyment surely that is a good thing. Maybe even encourage them to buy more content which is good for ED and therefore also good for all of us.
  3. Sadly the pilot did not survive.
  4. Some pilots turned the HUD off and just use the AoA indexer.
  5. Wouldn't the maneuver flaps be the way to go? At least they would retract automatically as speed increased.

I listened to all of it and the impression I got is that he felt his channel was being used by ED to promote a product that didn't live up to to all the hype. He did also say that he would only play on stable now.
  7. I had the same warning, but if I went through their face-book page I didn't get it.
  8. Whatever he meant I'm playing safe and just using them full up or full down!
  9. F-15s liked to drag the Tomcat high and use their superior thrust to gain an advantage. An off-the-books tactic we used to counter this was to manually extend the wings to the fullest, then incrementally lower the flaps beyond the normal maneuver setting. It was hugely successful, but the danger was that the flap torque tubes were not designed for this and could become stuck. An excerpt from an article by an F 14 pilot https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/27889/confessions-of-a-navy-f-14-fleet-pilot-turned-f-5-aggressor. Now I'm even more confused!
  10. Thats what I love about these forums, Armchair pilots telling a rl pilot they don't know what they're talking about!
  11. I played an online game for 10 yrs before coming to DCS, admittedly it was a different genre. Their system was different in that after OB had been tested and found to be relatively bug free and was released the OB server was shut down to work on the next update and the update was then released to "Stable". I often took part in OB and it seemed to me that the majority of ppl there were there to actually test it. One advantage of this system was an undivided community. Tbh though I'm not sure how it could be implemented here or even if it would work.
  12. At around 2.30 is a good view of an IFE. Also at 2.10 is a Tomcat landing with what looks like a re-fuel basket still attached!
  13. That's the one I couldn't find!
  14. Edit: After talking to one of our SME's it does indeed sound like they should have a full range of motion as set by the lever. I'll talk to the other guys and see if we can add some more binds for it. Last edited by Naquaii; 03-17-2019 at 09:08 PM. I saw another post in which a SME confirmed the ability to set flaps any where between full up and full down, but I can't find that one.
  15. I never use the zoom tbh, thats why I set it on the slider. As Draconus said flaps are always used either full up or down, but could be set anywhere in between if desired.
  16. I use the friction slider on my WH, with this I can set them any way I want, although I normally only ever use them full up or full down.
  17. "Adjusted flap lift and drag at speeds above deploy speed limit" What's this then from latest stable?
  18. I'm not sure if it's related but I've noticed a difference when landing. Need 1 or 2 degrees more nose up trim and engines seem less responsive than they were. I'm using latest stable.
  19. I have the speed brake assigned to the same 2 way switch I use on the F14 and it auto retracts when I lower the flaps on the Hornet. I have TM WH.
  20. It isn't locked forward. It's locked into the gear that moves it(I forget it's name) After you move it forward, push it down and close the cover make sure you push the reset button before putting it in auto and it will move depending on speed.
  21. It depends on your airspeed. Wing sweep will be in auto when you start which means they will adjust to whatever speed you're at. The faster you are the further back they will be swept. No need to touch the cover in normal flight. The lever will move on it's own. It will only be fully forward when wings are at 20 degrees
  22. The F14 is my go to plane and I will still keep trying. Does any-one know of a recent tutorial that shows the best way to counteract the probe induced yaw? I think that is part of my problem, the F18 doesn't seem to be affected by it maybe because of FBW.
  23. It still works in the Hornet ok, and you can still bank without it disengaging although pitch will disengage it. For pitching I use up and down trim which removes the colon on the UFC but essentially keeps it on for roll but not pitch.
  24. Thank you for a friendly reply, I have actually managed to connect a couple of times in the Hornet when using AP, but even then one little twitch and I lose it. And I've spent a lot of time adjusting curves etc to no avail. I know using Hornets AP is not the best way but it's the only way I'll ever do it.
