  1. A few years ago, in my early sixties, I developed a shake, not chronic but enough for me to realise after many hours trying I will never be able to refuel. Some form of auto refuel is the only way I'll ever get to do it. Now I suppose I'll get ppl saying I shouldn't be playing it at all! Probably ppl who use "cheats" themselves. To the OP you missed out the biggest cheat off all(zoom), How many videos has any-one seen of a pilot using binoculars while landing?
  2. This video shows how to use auto-pilot in a limited way while you learn.
  3. So basically it's how you handle the approach then? ie Glide-slope,line-up and Groove time.
  4. In my post I said VDI, but you're right it's the HSD. Sounds like you've got it right. Best thing would be for you to do the training mission for the F14.
  5. Do you actually set the BRC on the Tacan? It's the knob top right of the VDI
  6. I also noticed how he lowered his grip on the stick when in the groove.
  7. I think also some ppl land too fast to avoid "Dutch Roll" I know I did at first until I learned proper use of my rudder!
  8. Yes that's what I meant in a round about way!
  9. Throttle will go to ground idle if you have correct AoA and a good descent rate, I very rarely have to advance and retard it to have ground idle.
  10. 150 knots is way too fast, you should be at around 135 knots on speed with a descent rate of approx 600 to 700 fpm otherwise you will stay in flight idle which is 70% rpm instead of 65% which is normal idle. Deploying speed-brake is not a bad thing either. Don't flare either the hornet is designed to be flown into the runway rather than on to the runway. I hope that makes sense!
  11. Thank you that's what I thought. But would the LSO give the wave off when you're behind the boat or would you get a call while you're still on the down wind?
  12. If you're too long in the groove you risk a wave off or a low grade, but what if you're very wide on the down wind leg? This could add several seconds even if your groove time is good which must affect any plane or flight behind you. Just curious as I'm usually between 1.2 and 1.4 nm from the boat, but occasionally get it wrong and end up wider.
  13. None! As I play on stable there is nothing I want that I can use yet.
  14. What I'd like to know is why if tomorrows OB goes well why they can't release that to stable before adding more things.
  15. Or raise your seat with the switch by the left of the seat until the standby gunsight lines up. First thing I always do then I never have to touch any other views. I'm using Trackir 5
  16. I use stable on Caucasus map and airfield lights work for me.
  17. I agree. I think ED is trying to do too much at the same time and seem to actually getting nowhere!
  18. Don't forget to add a little power before you start the 180 and reduce it before you roll out wings level. I always forgot that and couldn't understand why I was all over the place! Once I got in the habit of doing it things got a lot smoother.
  19. I take that to mean his relative is ok,if so I'm really glad it worked out ok for him.
  20. Don't know if this has been mentioned before but low down and to the right in the RIO pit there is a hole in the fuselage.
  21. Can't you just set Jester inactive using crew utility function on Jester menu?
  22. Actually it makes no difference to me, my trap sheet always seems to have a combination of all four colours anyway!
  23. What I understood by it being "bogus" was that they didn't correspond to the AoA indexer colours, not that they were inaccurate,ie green is slow on indexer but onspeed on trap sheet.
  24. One thing to bear in mind though is that Ironmike stated in an old post that the colours are total bogus and the groove times are wrong! Although the glide path and line up seem to be fairly accurate.
  25. More like a game breaking module at present!
