Almost the same suggestion - and the way I'll use it: Don't fiddle with too much details in your CAD-program. This should be used for the general design of the pit. Graphics belong IMO to a dedicated program like Gimp, Photoshop,... So, export (somehow) the faces of the panels and fine-tune them in Inkscape/Gimp/... The result should then be ready to print 1:1. Depending on the level concerning the design of your pit, you'll surely need more than only one program. For me, I'm trying to master Sketchup, Gimp, KiCAD for the complete Pit. That altogether is a quite long road, but I like to learn that kind of new stuff. Sure, there are other ways to skin the cat. ;)

Sketchup is my choice as well. YT has dozens of good tutorials which helped me a lot.

I have a CDU on my road map and I see it just as a technical challenge. And nothing can beat flipping real switches and clicking real buttons. :) Though yes, pinkie and keyboard is the easy way for this, but some like it hard. ;)

The distance between two DZUS is always a multiplier of 0.375". So, if you make such a grid in your favourite graphics program and resize the screenshot of a panel on another layer, you'll get a quite accurate result. Hm... If you print the knobs, why not make a negative shape for the arrow and fill it with ink? I guess it'll be easier filling than painting with a toothpick or a small brush. Anyway: Keep up with your work! I like following the progress.

Hatte ich hier letztens schon mal irgendwo empfohlen: Pokeys von Poscope: https://www.poscope.com/product/pokeys57u/ Wahlweise auch mit Ethernet-Anschluss verfügbar. Einsetzbar als DX-Device (Joystick) oder via Keycodes. Outputs unterstützen LEDs direkt oder auch als Matrix. Analoganschlüsse sind ebenfalls vorhanden. Liegt auch schon zu Hause 8) - Es fehlt nur die Zeit...

Yes, but it's not advisable to mount the MFDs directly to a touchscreen: Due to their constant contact you'll not be able to use 'finger touch' on other areas on the touchscreen as input. At least, that's my experience. Though I'm thinking of a mount with will let the MFDs 'hover' above the screen. Sry for kinda hijacking this thread - pls just take it as a helpful hint.
