  1. Update. It appears to be VR related. The cockpit is clickable in flat screen mode. I suspect this might have something to do with the "tutorial" aspect of mission 1 where it identifies switches to turn to listen to music. I am not certain if this mode works in VR or not. If there is a way to suspend this mode that might fix it
  2. I can not click on any of the switches etc in the Mi-8 when using this campaign. In fact the cursor is not even visible except for when I open the communications menu. I can vaguely see where the cursor potentially is based on tool tips popping up. I am using it with the HTC Vive Pro I do not have any of these problems in other campaigns or vehicles or in the Mi-8 outside of the campaign
  3. With regards to the map, I would say that all depends on in you spend your time online or offline doing missions and campaigns. If it is offline then I would go with Nevada as there is a lot more content in regards to DLC Campaigns (both for the F5 and the Mirage) for that map. If you spend your time in multi player then either would probably be fine
  4. You could always take one step back in order to take 2 steps forward. Get familiar with the SU-25 and A-10A in FC (or the free SU-25T). It would be a good break-in for some advanced weapons and might make the transition to something like the A-10 or F-18 a bit easier
  5. I built my simpit under similar ideas. What I ended up using a Corbeau GTS II car seat with an adjustable back and under rack. I believe I got it on sale for a very good price ($200). I have found it very comfortable and the natural incline the seat base with the fore-aft rail mount ends up give a good angle for comfort. I then fix mounted the rudder pedals to the base and used the seat adjustment to get the right position. Center mounted the stick with a length extension and mounted the throttles on the left side "console" with the mouse on the right "console". I used to use MFDs but pulled them off since going 100% VR. My main recommendation would be to build in some adjustment to your design until you are 100% comfortable with the layout. You may find yourself building it twice but starting with a good comfortable seat is a good place to start
  6. I gave a quick look at the video. One thing I noticed is that one of the parameters is SteamSS - 80% I assume this is the supersampling parameter you can set in steam. Does this mean that the video was actually done at a resolution lower than the the headsets capability (ie. SS=1.0)? If so that may be a little misleading with regards to the expected performance with a 1080ti and this headset
  7. I tried the mission again tonight...at least until landing at the hospital. I didn't encounter any problems. I was able to pick up all 5 sailors and bring them to the hospital. Now during the hovering to pick up the sailors I did spend some time in the EGT yellow/red range. The same when coming in for the drop off at the hospital. The fuel I started off with was just below 14 One possibility is you are spending too much time hovering with the EGT in the yellow/red range. The huey can only handle the EGT being between 625-675 for 10 seconds at a time. Exceeding this limit will burn up your engine. This is not meant as a criticism but something worth considering. Typically my excursions in this range are a second or two at a time as I adjust the collective while hovering and during a smooth transition into the hover for landing. Another possibility is you could perhaps not using the most recent version of the mission. The mission title I have is 2.0.44 according to the mission editor Hope this helps some...good luck
  8. I fly in realism mode as well. If I get the chance later this evening I will check it out again. I am not certain how much fuel is on board as I do not adjust it from the mission default values. I am an engineer myself and am just relaying my experiences from the mission in order to help you figure out why it isn't working with yours. Are you adding fuel beyond what the scenario starts at? What speed are you transiting to the sub at?
  9. I do not recall, though I didn't change the fuel loading or anything else before starting the mission. I do recall it not being a problem and had a fair bit of EGT overhead for the hover. It is possible we are using different builds of DCS. I am using the most recent beta which I identified in my last post as a reference. I believe there have been changes in the function of the EGT over the last few months. Also I am not certain what speed you are transiting at and how much stress that is putting on the engine. The huey can operate with the EGT in the yellow/red for a limited duration but that time is cumulative and when it is overused it will result in a engine fire. I transit between 100-105 kts which typically has the EGT in the green Hope this helps
  10. Tried this last week in 2.5.2.20601 and had no problems at all. About 6 months ago when I was doing this campaign I had to keep a constant eye on the EGT but not really the case anymore
  11. Click on "Use all cores" under CPU affinity in task manager. It is unpredictable on my system. Sometimes it loads up with just one core checked and sometimes it loads up with all. I will say that I have spent more than an hour or two fiddling with settings trying to get a smooth VR experience only to find out that DCS had somehow been limited to a single core. I check the "check all" box and it is much smoother experience. So now I just make it a habit to check this after it has loaded up. On the odd chance that I forget to and I encounter stuttering issues it is almost always related to the number of cores 6850K @ 4.2 GHz and 1080 GTX
  12. Another thing worth looking at is if DCS is actually using more than one core. I notice on my system that it sometimes just chooses to use one core which will cause pauses/stutters. Basically, every time I start up using DCS I use task manager to ensure that all cores are available for use with DCS
  13. One approach you could do is to use GPU-Z to see to what extent your GPU is being used. If it is in the 90% or more area then it is most likely that the GPU is the bottleneck. If it is has plenty of overhead then the CPU is your bottleneck. Thing to keep in mind is that there will always be a bottleneck. So it is possible to upgrade your CPU and still have it as the bottleneck depending upon the GPU and settings you use. Although I would venture a guess that your current CPU is limiting you more than perhaps you might like. Of course this is a personal preference
  14. Interesting idea, though the hornet doesn't have the legs that the eagle does. It might make some of the missions a real problem to complete, especially if you need to get somewhere in a hurry. Figured it would require a fair amount of testing in the very least
  15. Thanks! I look forward to the correction
  16. Hi Sabre, Did a repair and did the next mission in line (1v1 F4E) and Uzi taxied out first. I haven't gone back to check 1v1 F15C. FWIW Uzi would follow me out on 1v1 F-15C
  17. @Hatefury I believe the OP was talking about how to start the mission. He had his bird started up and ready to go. The instruction from the Uzi 2 is to "follow him". I can say for the initial engagement that he doesn't move even if you taxi right up behind him. What he will do is follow you to the active and take off after you. So in this respect the instructions are a little misleading. I am not sure if this is a result of a recent update. I had worked through the F-5 campaigns and the instructor did have you follow him in those (and it worked) I just played this mission last night and proceeding to the active runway on your own and taking off is the way to go. Uzi 2 will catch up :)
  18. I did read that the author has recently submitted changes to ED to fix this mission and others....so hopefully they show up soon
  19. It appears that the hinds are not able to land to pick up the captives...thus preventing you from completing the mission 2.5.2.18736
  20. I had a similar problem, but found the IL-76 doesn't always get shot down so I basically just replayed that portion of the mission until it eventually landed....found it to be a good use of the accelerate time function
  21. Mission 15 I believe there may be a trigger issue with 2.51. I let the Apache's do there thing then I get a message to Land with a warning that the LZ is hot. So I land on the roof of the building from the mission brief (the big building with the two burning trucks in front of it). The mission does not progress from here. I get no indication that the seals have got off the huey or any other further instructions. Additionally, it looks like the Blackhawk is having difficulty landing at its designated area so perhaps this is creating an issue with the triggers. This is either a bug or I am doing something incorrectly
  22. Hi, I have really been enjoying the campaign and am presently on the last mission. I believe there may be a trigger issue with 2.51. I let the Apache's do there thing then I get a message to Land with a warning that the LZ is hot. So I land on the roof of the building from the mission brief (the big building with the two burning trucks in front of it). The mission does not progress from here. I get no indication that the seals have got off the huey or any other further instructions. Any insight is appreciated. Kind Regards, Brett
  23. I figured it out...just needed to update
  24. Hi, I purchased this campaign yesterday and I haven't been able to install it. I keep getting an error stating DCS 2.5.1.16798.361 is not available. Any help is appreciated Kind Regards, Brett
