Agreed, it needs to be in the chit chat for sure, sorry about that

We are all anticipating the release of the next major version of this amazing sim. What is the feature that you are waiting for the most? (from what was officially mentioned so far) For me it's definitely the scale-able objects, so it will be easier to pick up other aircraft as well as ground vehicles followed closely by the improved smoke effects.

Like Chuck Yaeger said "It's the man, not the machine"

I agree, for me this is the best feature of the new engine, yet! Smoke trails are extremely lacking at the moment, they dissipate way too soon, and the trails are very short. Can't wait

New PC - How to load control from previous PC
Jazz_44 replied to Jazz_44's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That did the trick. Thanks so much!! -
Hi, I was running a search on the forums without success. I understand that the control configuration is stored under C:\Users\*\Saved Games\DCS However, even when I copied and placed this folder in my new PC, the control mappings are not there in the game, I need to map everything again... What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

Both the Sabre and the Mig-15 were painted silver. It is known that pilots from both sides used to locate their enemies by the sun reflecting on the shiny metal. It would be a cool feature (effect) to see. Maybe in EDGE...
-
Yes, that would be really nice to see. Is there a list somewhere that explains what new / improved effects are going to be implemented in EDGE? Personally, I would love to see better smoke effects, both for missiles and burning targets.

Hi All, I haven't played DCS for a while now and when I tried to fly some of the planes (F15, A10C, SU25 etc.) I noticed that something doesn't "feel" right. From a driver setup perspective and also in DCS itself, the calibration is spot on, there is no stuttering and the motion of the stick is perfect. However in actual flight it feels as if I am pulling 9Gs all the time when I pull back on the stick. In other words, I'm losing a lot of speed when I pull the stick to climb or during ACM. It's as if there is no "range" in the Y axis. Physically the stick moves a certain distance but in the sim it feels as if I'm always pulling it all the way, the "in between" range is missing, it is there, it's not On/OFF but it feels way off. I hope I'm clear enough explaining this (English is not my first language) Did anyone noticed that? I tried to play a bit with the settings - Adding curves as well as a dead zone etc, but nothing seems to fix it. Thanks in advance.

Main challenge in the early years of the conflict for the USAF and Navy F4's was the lack of a gun. The Sparrow (AIM-7) was almost useless because of strict ROE not to fire on unidentified targets. The Sidewinder (AIM-9) was preferring the heat of the sun instead of the Mig's tailpipe.. Same challenges could be recreated in DCS world. The current FC3 missile behavior is almost the same as the A-A missiles of Vietnam, about 30% hit probability on non-maneuvering targets ;-)

Thanks Maior, So there is no internal ECM suite in the aircraft at all? Do you know what is the location of the Chaff and Flare Dispensers?

Hello All, I am currently working on a training program for the Su-27, the first module is general familiarization. I found a lot of information in books and the Internet but there are still a few questions that I am unsure of a 100% 1) What is the purpose of the "pod" between the engines besides providing extra lift and increased fuselage strength? Does it hold ECM equipment or maybe the Chaff / Flare dispensers? 2) I know FC3 simulates the Su-27's first production model, but is it true that under no circumstances it can mount and deploy the R-77 missile? 3) Does the EOS incorporates some sort of IFF capabilities? Thanks in advance!

Sorry if I hijack this thread, but I wanted to know if it's possible to change the missile smoke trails in DCS World. I find that the current missile trails dissipate way too quickly. A rocket motor should leave it's white smoke in the air a lot longer, similar to engine contrails at high altitude (which are simulated correctly in DCS World). Is it possible to simulate this effect for A/A A/G Missiles?

WOW, USMC Trev, that was some intense footage on youtube! Can you imagine how superb the A10C Sim would be if they incorporated some real voice acting when communicating with the JTAC? The anxiety and the tention over the radio as you try to support the forces on the gound would make this sim much more immersive...

Smoketrail mod for DCS Warthog
Jazz_44 replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I posted this in a different thread but it's relevant here as well :) Thanks a lot for this MOD. I tried it in FC2 and it's very nice. But it still doesn't change important (for me) effects. - White smoke generated by missiles is still thin and transparent (I know AIM120 are smokeless, but Mavericks and AIM9s should generate a nice ammount of smoke) - Missile smoke trails disappear far too quickly to my taste (need to stay visible much longer) - Smoke trails have a predetermined "length" - Would be nice to look back and see where exactly the missles was fired from (similar to the contrails in the game when you fly very high) Any chance that a skilled modder or ED will improve in these areas? Thanks again! -

Hi Everyone, It's been a while since I posted anything in these forums. I have played DCS Black Shark and also Flaming Cliffs 2 and I am just about to purchase A10C (looks fantastic). The only thing that I really wish that Eagle Dynamics will add to existing products is in the Effects department. Smoke trails are nicely done, but is it possible to make them stay in the air longer? What about making the smoke thicker as well (in density)? They just dissipate way too quickly. The ground explosions and black smoke are unchanged since the original Lock on (2003) and they can really use an upgrade as well. So, any chance to mod or to see an official upgrade in this department? Sorry if this is not the correct place to post this... Itai

Hi Irregular, Sorry for not providing any solution to this, but I wanted you to know that I have the exact same problem and it's so annoying! BTW - I am using a HOTAS Cougar without any pedals.

I second that! ED did a great job:thumbup:

Multi-Monitors in DCS? Easy
Jazz_44 replied to smokyrain's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks a lot for that SmokyRain! I will give it a shot later today. I have a Radeon 4780 with Catalyst 9.5 Itai -
I had the exact same problem and it happened after I installed the new 2009 skin. Just uninstall any mods with Modman - That fixed the problem for me (No external weapons showing / my Ka50 would explode when I fire rockets) Itai

Do real pilots ever let go of the stick?
Jazz_44 replied to dutchpilot's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well, in the Ka50 the stick is in the center, so the pailot can shift his left hand to grab the stick while his right hand is free to manipulate anything in the cockpit. Also if the aircraft is trimmed (any aircraft) then you don't have to hold the stick all the time, the plane or helicopter will fly itself. Works like a charm in a Cessna 172 and should be no different in an F16 or a Mig29 :smilewink: Itai -
Oh no, trust me they were the normal trucks, as well as the Jeeps, they explode from 1-2 shells at once. I flew the Shooting range mission that came with the game and there are many T80's there, I always needed 3 Vikhr missles to destroy them, didn't matter from which angle I attacked them. Itai

Thanks for the info TangoRomeo. On a positive note, I think the effects of the AP rounds jumping off concrete is absolutely amazing! Such attention to small detail is what makes high fidelity sims so enjoyable. Itai

Searched the forums but couldn't find an answer. I was just hovering around the airbase and wanted to test the cannon of the Ka50. As you know the airbase has a lot of trucks and vehicles parked together. I fired the shortest burst possible (maybe 2-3 rounds went off) at the trucks and BOOM the whole thing blew off as if I dropped a lb bomb on them. The cannon is way too powerful, and hitting 3-4 vehicles at the same time with barely 3 rounds is unrealistic as well. Also, I had to use 3 Vikhr missiles to destroy a T80 Tank, is that normal? Will this be addressed in a future patch? Thanks for the answers. Itai
