  1. Performance on that video was great. Very smooth for VR. Wonder if it's because they are running a newer build of DCS, or perhaps a stripped down version of Normandy?
  2. Performance certainly dropped for me, compared to 2.0.5. What made it flyable again for me in VR was to reduce the pixel density to 0.8 - terrible, I know. But now I can at least fly with FPS close to 45. I have an i7 4790K CPU, 16GB RAM and a GTX 1070, CV1.
  3. This. If ED can make the smoke remain in the air longer it would be a huge difference in gameplay and add to the immersion in my opinion. Perhaps it will be added as part of the upcoming visual effects overhaul?
  4. Thanks Braeden, The parts themselves are useful, but I would like to use better quality ones. Especially for the potentiometers. Do you know where I can find those? Are you willing to do the actual replacement work? I'll DM you.
  5. I'm in the US, GA.
  6. Hi Everyone, Not sure where to ask this, hope it's the right place in the forums. My HOTAS Cougar has given me some issues lately - https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187431 Are there any community members here who are knowledgeable and willing to replace some of my HOTAS Cougar parts? I will purchase whatever parts necessary, I just don't want to mess around with the stick's gimbals and the TQS buttons, as it will surely require soldering etc. Thanks!
  7. Appreciate all the detailed explanation about the options. I did a fair amount of research, but I'm still on the fence. Have Thurstmaster ever released an "updated" version of the Warthog, fixing some of the internal component issues that many people experienced, since the product launched about 7 years ago? Perhaps the newer (2016 onward) produced Warthogs include some improvements that they haven't advertised? Is the basic 'factory' warranty that Thurstmaster provides include some of the known issues (mainly stickiness) or bad buttons? I couldn't find info on their website. Is it a one year warranty? A lot of US stores offer an extended warranty (for an additional fee) is it worth it? The Mongoose and the Gunfighter seem great, but none provide a valid throttle in to make it a full HOTAS, and there are still months before such products appear. Does anyone use a Virpil / VKB stick with a Warthog throttle? Thanks again.
  8. Sorry if it was addressed before, but from my understanding, the Normandy Alpha release will also 'share' the NTTR map when you launch 2.1, correct? If so, does it mean that all the new lighting and other enhancements will be implemented in the NTTR map from day 1 of the release? Or they would still be updated separately as time goes on?
  9. Thanks for all the info and advice, highly appreciated! I think I'm gonna pass on the Warthog, it just sounds like that although it looks neat, the internal components are the cheapest you can get, which is such a shame really. So you got my interest in base grips etc. So I have a few questions. - My Cougar stick is working perfectly fine (button wise), so if I purchase the VKB-sim Gunfighter base only, I can place my cougar stick on it? It will then solve my potentiometer issues and provide a base that will last for many years to come? - The base only costs $259, I might as well buy the $299 Gunfighter and then have an extra stick, right? I can disassemble the gunfighter stick and place my cougar one. - Will I be able to connect my Cougar TQS to the VKB base? Is there another standalone throttle that can be used, instead of the warthog one? Thanks again!
  10. Hi Everyone, Sorry for the long post, but I think the details are important. I have my cougar since 2005, and still use it today. Around 2008 I lost functionality in the ANT ELEV rotary knob, and then with the throttle's pointer axis. I was unable to use them since then, but I continued using the cougar throttle none-the-less. In 2011 all of my pots (stick and throttle) began to spike, and I was unable to re-calibrate them properly anymore, so I ended up shopping online for other ones. A friend of mine helped me to replace them and they were okay until recently. Now I have spikes again and I decided, that perhaps it's time to retire the Cougar. I saw that there is something called "Hall sensor" that is a total replacement of the conventional pots that are in the stick. And perhaps there is also a solution to the other knobs on the throttle that are unusable? Should I pursue a retrofitting of the cougar, or just buy the Warthog instead? I heard that the Warthog, despite it's excellent design and price tag, still uses some cheap components inside? I don't want to spend $500 on a joystick, just to experience similar issues after a couple of years.. Thanks for the help!
  11. Based on other module development times, I'd say 2018 at the earliest. Out of Beta probably in 2019.
  12. Hi MBot, Thank you so much for all your hard work, this is what I was waiting for in YEARS! One question - In the campaign's description you mention, and I quote "Fully integrated into the DCS User Interface" Does that mean that after each mission, it won't take you away from the main DCS app to display the log? Thanks again, can't wait to try it out.
  13. Hi DeadlyFishes, any plans to continue and improve this great mission? Thanks!
  14. Really enjoying the campaign MBot! Thank you so much for all your work. This really brings "life" to DCS. Can't wait for the RC!
  15. Great job! Do you know when you plan on releasing an updated beta version?
  16. I completely agree with you. Just reading through some of the "feedback" comments gives a very negative impression about this AMAZING effort. This is by far the best thing that happened to DCS since it's launch years ago. I highly advise to focus on constructive feedback to the BETA that MBot released. Other suggestions/inquiries or general rant should go to a different thread. Thank you MBot for all of your work, can't be appreciated enough!
  17. All right, just wanted to let you know that the issue was caused by Windows 10' spage file settings. The page file was set to manual (with a low memory setting). As soon as I switched it to auto managed, the low memory / crashes were gone. I can now play this awesome mission without any issues. Cheers!
  18. Thanks Razo+r, and Bignewy. My page file wasn't set to auto managed. Once set I can run DCS 2.0.4 without any low memory issues!
  19. Thanks Bignewy. I run an Intel i7 4790K CPU, 16GB RAM and a GTX 1070. I'm pretty sure the page file is managed by the OS. Not sure why DCS 2.0 is crashing when I load "large" missions, but it does (Low memory error message). DCS 1.5 works without issues, no matter which mission I load. I will try to do the reinstallation as you described.
  20. Anyone? Perhaps you can reference me to a reinstallation guide? I just want a fresh start with DCS 2.0, while I can still retain my joystick profiles, per plane. Thanks,
  21. Thanks HiJack, Can you please give instructions for dummies? The DCS app folder is the entire DCS World 2 folder? Also, where is the SavedGame folder? By keeping some of the "old" stuff, do I ensure a clean and proper re-installation, so the issue I'm experiencing now won't repeat itself?
  22. Hi all, I wanted to know what is the best process to re-install DCS 2.0.4. Since the last update it runs into low memory issues that I haven't experienced before. These errors cause the game to crash. Anyway, what is the best approach to reinstall? Do I need to deactivate my modules first? What about my config profiles for all the planes? I would hate to remap all the keys. Thanks in advance for the help.
  23. Thanks for the help! I do run the latest Direct X and nVidia drivers, so I doubt it's related to that. Hope you can find the source of this issue in the dmp file.
  24. All right. Attached are three log files, zipped. Hope this helps in sorting out the crash issues. dcs.zip
  25. Thanks for the help guys. I tried to open the mission in ME and save it - still crashes :( I removed the Mi-8 and Gazelle helicopter from the mission (since I don't have these modules) and it still crashes. I'll attach the relevant logs once I'm back home.
