  1. Thanks guys, top notch video! I noticed when you were engaging the 27's you both fired multiple Phoenix missiles, but it was hard to tell because there was no visible smoke. I thought the AIM-54 has a long burn run and it smokes a lot. Something I'm missing?
  2. Love everything I'm seeing so far in forms of videos from he community and Heatblur, thank you! Sorry if this was asked before, but I noticed that Jester is calling out the actual contacts by airframe! He tells you right away if it's an SU-27, MiG-29, Tiger (F-5E) etc. Is that realistic? All those calls are way beyond visual range, which brings me to suspect that he is using IFF to determine the contact?

    F15E When?

I don't think they know either. My personal guess is to have the F15E in Early Access in late 2020. Feature complete in 2022.
  5. I can also vote for the Rift. I bought the O+ last November in hopes of a better picture quality (no SDE). I mostly use VR to play DCS, and while the O+ does have brighter colors, I haven't seen much improvement in readability of the cockpit gauges, and its sweet spot is much smaller. But what killed if for me was the lack / improper implementation of ASW technology. Whenever your FPS drops below 30 it feels jaggy and choppy. The Rift on the other hand just feels so smooth, even at 20 FPS. Oh, and the O+ is very uncomfortable for me to wear more than 20 minutes. My O+ is shelved for now, perhaps I'll give it another go in the future, when ASW is implemented, or when DCS performance is improved overall for VR.
  6. Come on guys, you can't seriously expect it in 2019 based on our experience with other modules. Nothing negative about it, it just takes huge amounts of time and unexpected turns to successfully develop such a module. 2020 Early Access with some potential to be feature complete in 2021.
  7. Also remember that ED communicated that they intend to release MAC (FC4) in Fall 2018. With only two weeks left, I don't see it being released alongside anything else, definitely not the Tomcat.
  8. We have been asking for this for months and months now. RAZBAM even hired a new community manager to supposedly address these kinds of requests not long ago, but nothing so far. The Bug tracking list is a move in the right direction, but to be honest, this isn't enough. A few months back they stated that the Harrier should be feature complete by the end of the year, but that's obviously impossible considering we are in December already. We can only hope that RAZBAM will up their game when it comes to transparency and expectations from their customers.
  9. Early December is not Winter yet, so no chance. I think it will be a very early 2019 release - end of January timeframe.
  10. Does it really take more than 30 minutes to update the change log + road map for the Harrier? The lack of updates, even after hiring a person just for that role is alarming.
  11. I thought RAZBAM hired a new community manager specifically to address customer's concerns, as in this post. Odd that he didn't respond to this thread yet.
  12. Development takes time, for sure, and overall I'm pleased with the progress of the Harrier, it's definitely not "abandoned" like others claim. However, the TPOD is not mentioned in the update news list that CptSmiley maintains, so it would be great to have an official say from the developers on the subject. Only items in the pipeline are the KC-135 drogue position corrections/updates, Gun pod angle, Switch standardization, STO Hotkeys shortcuts and LHA Tarawa upgrades (working anti-air defenses). Nothing on Harrier avionics or systems.
  13. It won't be the release. A pre-order for a late December release at best. I'm still excited though, I've been waiting to see the tomcat with its final textures for a while now.
  14. Thinking about upgrading my 1070 to a 2080, I have a similar system to yours, John, but my CPU is much older - i7-4790K. Only playing in VR, so interested to know if my CPU will limit the full potential of the 2080. In the past, upgrading from a 970 to a 1070 was worth it.
  15. Personal estimate - Christmas 18' plenty of DCS planes or other games to play until then.
  16. Absolutely stunning! Never seen such attention to detail in any simulation. The cockpit textures are of course, out of this world, they look so real - which brings me to a personal concern. While it's true that the Tomcat is an old airplane by today's standards, but we are simulating a Tomcat in it's "glory days", and it is also very true that cockpits and planes get worn out pretty quickly, however, the current screenshots feel a bit too worn out to my personal taste. I have seen the F-14 recently in a few museums, the most recent one in Mobile, AL and Pensacola, and even though the planes saw plenty of abuse from visitors, they were not that worn out in certain places. Is this the level of wear and tear we will see? The knobs and switches feel as if they will break as soon as you touch them :) Regardless, amazing job.
  17. Couldn't agree more. Rolling out known bugs to the release version defeats the purpose of the beta.
  18. Coming to the open beta tomorrow?
  19. Good to know, thanks. It just amazes me that all the "easy mode" and "arcade" features that you see in other simulations might actually be in use and are no longer science fiction by some military aircraft today. I Remember flying EF2000 back in the day with a 360 degree radar. Maybe this is already implemented in a 6th generation aircraft today? Bottom line is that you really need to appreciate the pilots who flew planes until the mid 80's. They had their hands full.
  20. First phase of LGBs will be through buddy lase. TPOD will come much later. Was very surprised to see the new features in the radar - It now shows the missile that you launch. I assume that is realistic, but it makes me feel as if this plane comes from an arcade in the early 90's. Pilots have it SO easy these days...
  21. That would be nice. Can we just get a confirmation from ED that these effects are still WIP and not final?
  22. Love the new ground explosion effects we have since 2.5 launched. Amazing progress on that front. But I have to say that I'm underwhelmed by the more recently updated air to air explosions. Are those effects final? Would love to see something better than a gray puff after a missile hits an air target. Thanks!
  23. I was also skeptical at first, especially after the so-so release and progress on the M2000. But now I have the Harrier for four months and I have to say that it's awesome. Yes, some of the avionics are incomplete, but the Flight Model is exceptional in my opinion. Flying VSTOL is an experience like no other and RAZBAM nailed it. Highly recommend it even at full prince, so this sale is a steal.
  24. Sorry, but what does it mean exactly? That the cockpit is more complex and will always suffer from lower performance compared to other modules in VR?
  25. For me, I set Christmas 2019 as the date where the Hornet should be feature complete, similar to the A-10C that we have today.
