  1. I think the upside down and backwards problem was determined to be a problem with XRNeckSafer - assuming you are using that. To fix that problem select "Deactivate XRNS OpenXR API Layer" from the OpenXR menu in necksafer
  2. Here's my set up.... nullThe red line is the G2 cable routing which places no stress on the connection. it is held in place by the counterweight in the back which came with this (green lines)... https://www.studioformcreative.com/product-page/reverb-g2-pro-balance-enthusiast-kit-200-gram-7-oz I find the counterweight to make things much more comfortable when flying for more than an hour. fwiw the stuff on the top of the g2 visor is a pointctrl and there is a leap bracket on the front (currently not used, i'm just not very proficient with it...)
  3. I too have a 4090 which i LOVE, but the one thing that's still missing is a really great interface to the cockpit controls. I have a pointctrl, and it's by far the best way to go, but what I really want is a glove with haptic feedback in the fingertips (index and thumb would be enough) so that i can reach out (hand tracking) and "feel" the buttons and dials! In the meantime, I'll keep working on building my motion seat:)
  4. G2 is probably the best price/performance choice still, but it suffers in three areas that really annoy me still... - lcd instead of oled display makes night flying not so great. I've gone back to using my Odyssey+ for night flying on all my sims - FOV is a little too narrow, you get used to it - but it's really too small - Edge Clarity, probably the biggest drawback - the center is crystal clear but that's really only half the FOV, the rest is really borderline unacceptable. There are other headsets that mitigate some of these - Areo, pimax etc.... but at significant additional cost - I would be really happy if someone could address the issues above, doesn't even need to be an increased resolution over the G2, and do it for around $500 in WMR format like the G2 so I don't need to buy receiver stations. I'd get that in a heart beat. I think the tech is all there, its just that no vendor has packaged it like that yet. They all seem to be chasing other things unfortunately.
  5. Well this is pretty swell! Actual army pilot training video series on the P47.
  6. Were you able to calibrate you PointCtrl so that the cursor was at the end of your index finger?
  7. Thanks! Exactly what I needed.
  8. I've started flying the P47 (great aircraft) but the default position in VR seems to be too high (can't see the gun sight, and the seat bottom is way below me). Is there a fix for this so that when I do a VR/Center it puts me in the right position?
  9. If I understand the design correctly, the seat provides 2 rotational axis (pitch and roll) and one translational axis (up/down), as well as shoulder harness pressure to simulate g's. So from a flightsim perspective the one thing that is missing is the 3rd rotational axis (yaw) - the other 2 translational axis, are less important in flight sim i would guess. The shoulder tension is a fantastic add, but do you miss the yaw motion at all while flying? Particulary if you were to fly a WWII prop?
  10. Tom's hardware released their 13700k review earlier today and benched both amd and intel on FS2020. It also shows a massive advantage to a larger L3 Cache giving the AMD 5800X3D the edge over intel in that one benchmark. As we all know flightsim has different behavior that regular "gaming" and not all flightsims are created equal, but it does seem that L3 cache is a big advantage for flightsim.
  11. I know this is totally apples and oranges, but I'll say it anyway, there's another flight sim out there that's not called fs2020 which a few years ago went to vulcan... did zippy for fps, almost no change at all in VR, it did however make it much smoother and more consistent which is better in some ways, since a stable 45fps is better than a jittery 90fps for most people:)
  12. Well, I'd definitely like to build this! couple of questions? - has anyone done an independent review? would like to know what an independent source thought of it. - what does the completed seat weigh and what are the power requirements?
  13. Caucus Free Flight/F18 with same graphics settings on each card in VR and a G2... 2080ti OC GPU frame time- 22ms 4090 FE running at 70% power target - 10ms I'll take it. Totally CPU bound now...
  14. Got it thanks, I have a pointctrl and a leap, I definitely get better control with the pointctrl but the immersion is better with the leap. I've wondered if there is a way to disable the pointctrl mouse cursor control and retain the button input, then use the leap for the mouse cursor... maybe best of both worlds?
  15. I'm trying to follow this thread, but I think I 'm missing the basic problem trying to be solved. I *think* what you're trying to solve is that while the leap tracks your hands nicely, it's a little finicky for actually manipulating the controls? then it looks like you're using leap hands to move the mouse cursor somehow and the finger ring to push the buttons?
  16. There are rumors that the 4090 will cost $2500USD or higher... ouch! if that's the case I may have to "settle" for replacing my 2080ti (which actually works really well) with a 4080 instead...
  17. I like where this thread is going, I too am now using a 9V power supply because I thought the motor feedback was too pronounced and started too "heavy" . I just want "cues" as to what the plane is doing, not a continuous massage lol. I tend to turn off the engine vibration because it seems to mask the flight cues unless they are turned up much higher than I would like. 9v has solved much of this, but would still like better performance at the lower motor RPM's. Ideally, intensity of the vibration would increase as the G's increased and be linear from a very mild vibration at values less than a G getting stronger as the G's go up. That way you could fly level with your eyes closed just by "feeling" the aircraft. Of course, IRL disorientation would make that a nonstarter, but you know what I mean:) Looking forward to where this might be going....
  18. I use the VR On/Off buttons all the time with OpenXR, no problems at all, works fine.
  19. love that maneuver starting at 1:10...
  20. I used this tool on my G2 only doing the recommendation further up... - clone left eye from right eye (I'm right eye dominant) - flip both eyes top to bottom Prior to the change I was not suffering from dizziness or cross eye or anything but I can say that the result is much better anyway. The image isn't really sharper for me, but the sweet spot is definitely larger. The image retains its clarity much further out towards the edges of the FOV than before the change. Thumbs up for me! 21. I have a 2080ti and a 9700k overclocked to 5Ghz on every core... and I'm still GPU bound. Free flight in Caucus is around 10ms in cpu and 14-15ms in gpu, more complicated scenery ups the gpu to 20-25ms. Multiplayer is a different story though, cpu times are much higher, but generally trail gpu times. I've often wondered if I were to upgrade only the CPU or only the GPU or only the VR headset which would make the bigger difference... I'm guessing GPU in my case, but would probably need to be a 3090 or ti in order for it to be noticeable? in either case I think I'll wait for the next generation of Intel/Nvidia before touching anything... it's crazy expensive to do a complete new rebuild including an aero:) OpenXR has helped a lot though...
  22. Thank you miles, I put a message in #aux-push-buttons
  23. found RC8, doesnt have the trojan problem. thanks! nice work. On e problem with the capture function for PP mode is that its locked on the first point I selected now. Changing points wont update the coordinates, and every point I try and create it just defaults to the first one I ever selected. That survives restarts of the tools as well.
  24. +1 for the F18 version, can you have a look? Would love to give this a go.
