Except a real 2A5 looks like this ... check the turret front. http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/Leo2_Pics/Leo2A5-KMW-01.jpg
-
Are you sure that's a Leo? They either have vertical fronts on their turrest or that triangular section front to defeat long rod penetrators (A5s) ... that loooks like a slope more like a Challanger. The gun certainly looks like a German 120 ... No idea what the flaps are! They have shadows ..

hitman, Agreed you have to compromise something for a sim costing £20 on a £2000 PC ... and in SB your horizon is much more limited. Having seen video of 'military' sims, the graphics are very poor, not a patch on BS. However, in BS on most rigs, there is at least one other core still around doing very little! Still disappointing ... Anyone have any idea of the time frame for 'the new graphics engine' being introduced into DCS? With the A-10 or later?
-
But for a sim trying to model ground combat, that's exactly whats required - it's kind of fundamental - just look at Steeal Beasts. Trees need to be modelled like millions of those TV masts, just shorter. Watching TOW missiles fly through forrests is just not right.

Help with graphical glitch in clouds?
Kula66 replied to luden's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Slightly OT, was there ever a fix for the missing self-shadow bug with late model video cards? -
Any plans for a patch 1.13 or 1.2?
Kula66 replied to RedTiger's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Lets be honest, a patch isn't going to be able to fix the main problems in LO, ie. missile/seeker modelling. I imagine that is a ton of work. ED have a load of other stuff to be working on - A-10, AH-64 and then hoepfully a fast jet and then we'll see proper missile modelling that will totally confuse the low flyers/spammers/barrell rollers etc. The patch isn't going to happen. I really hope they get it right this time, because if the level of detail they've put into BS is anything to go by, A2A will once again be fantastic! -
fast rotation while autohovering?
Kula66 replied to docehrenhoefer's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
When it has happened to me it is because the rudder has gone to the extreme of one side or the other, I think because of trimming/bug. Did you have <RCtrl><Enter> on? If so, you may be able to spot this. -
LockOn and TrackIR, is it worth it
Kula66 replied to Victorious1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Absolutely worth it ... next to a HOTAS. So good you wonder how you ever managed without it! 5/5. -
Thanks for your help, that's just the sort of thing I was after ... Being an MPH guy, I find KPH a bit of a mystery!

Getting board with BS (there are only so many AI vehicles you can zap befroe it gets broing IMHO), so fancied some plain flying around and have always liked the challenge of the 25 - no fancy HUD, AFM etc. I can land it ok, but I've been looking for basic flight info for the vanilla 25. Stuff like rotate speed, glide slope, landing speed etc. Are there extracts of the flight manual available on the net translated into English?
-
Perhaps they have to refer to the manual alot! "Now, is it <RCtrl><LShift><A> or <RCtrl><RShift><A> ... I know, I'll pop the light on and check the manual ..."
-
Your opinions on the included training material?
Kula66 replied to RedTiger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Agreed ... the manual is more a 'What the switches do' rather than a 'When to use them' guide. The producers notes are excellent, but I could do with some more centered on basic helicopter flying. My training tracks are all Russian, so no use to me ... but I'm happy that with plenty of trial and error, I've got the basics! -
Many of my early problems were a faulty button on my cougar - the S4 button, which by default mapped to trim and would randomly trigger when I mvoed the stick ... so check for hardware faults.

Thanks Groove, I have, however, given my advanced years I forget things easily.

Many thanks cquail/Danish!

On a simialr note, how do yo unlock a locked target?
-
Is there anyone here who only likes Helicopters
Kula66 replied to rapid's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Helicopters are a challenge to fly and the systems modelling is just fantastic ... but the AI targets will always be just too dumb and predicatable and the terrain will never be good enough close up. That feeling of being on-line and watching from 40k' some poor sucker on TWS in blissful ignorance with an AMRAAM headed his way ... no comparision!! Sorry, -
Shame ... but thanks for the info.
-
We'll you keep waiting ... I was posting the question hoping for a reply from ED.

ED: Any chance of releasing these for those that purchased the Russian version? It would be greatly appreciated!

Hotas cougar, and rudder control help
Kula66 replied to T.Bone's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Worked with no fiddling at all, plugged into my Cougar ... I think it was the 'F-16s', that's what it has stamped on the right pedal. -
Hotas cougar, and rudder control help
Kula66 replied to T.Bone's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
T.Bone - I've got a set, the guy was ill at the time but he managed to ship them to me in the UK. Good heavy metal pedals. A good match for my Cougar! -
Hotas cougar, and rudder control help
Kula66 replied to T.Bone's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a cougar with peddles and have assigned the rudders within BS ... they seem to work fine. -
IMHO, 'Collidable' trees in BS are a bit like missiles that obey physics in FC ... pretty fundamental! Watching TOW missiles fly through forrests and hit a BMP ... just looks silly. There are dozens of videos showing attack helicopters skirting along tree lined roads/rivers etc ... NOE is again fundamental. Afg/Irq are not conventional environments and I'm sure what is considered convention attack helicopter is different there. Against a mech army with lots of AAA/SAMs you'd have to either neutalise (SEAD/ECM) it or go low into the trees. I guess we await the new engine ...

Nothing on my downloaded copy ...
