I do find it odd that when you zoom in on the HUD to have a closer look, you lose the data around the outside - are the numbers really that small in RL?
-
Nate, Thanks for your help yesterday, downloading a new video driver got most of it working and dropping the level of water from 4 t o2 sent my FPS to 25! Rgds, James

This is the first Instant Action, literally the first 20 seconds. Started flying, the needles spin-up and then don't move at all. As you can see the video is not a patch on DCS:BS or LO:FC! The moving map seems to work a treat :) Most settings on high apart from water. I've tried lowering these and it makes little difference to the apparent FPS. jcTest-01.trk

This is really odd ... in instant action, I can fly the plane but the cockpit guages don't move! Also, the things like the HUD are in a terrible green font! I realize this is a beta, so if you need any further trouble-shooting, let me know.

" I'm not sure DCS supports a workstation GPU" - Never had a problem on any other game/program. "try running without fullscreen" Will do Nate, Thanks for your help. Regards, James EDIT: ФрогФут - Thanks, I can't see any messages etc. I've disabled most stuff. I did have problems with DCS:BS and a Macro editor but this has been unloaded.

Thanks Nate, Here you go. Regards, James DxDiag.txt

Thanks for the suggestions. No Alt-Tab and no over-clocking - I have a laptop (with a 512MB video card, so no slouch). I tried Instant Action which works, but is horribly slow. As I said, I can play DCS:BS with 20ish FPS. Also, the A-10 the video looks horrible - must be something I'm doing wrong.

Video frozen Just installed 32 bit on XP, no errors. I can use the menus with no error. Load a training track and the screen freezes ... I can hear the voice and audio, switch F1, F2, F3 but the screen remains the same. The Un-Pause dialog doesn't disappear despite the audio starting up. The training text plays and changes. I can hit Esc and Q for quit and I return to the menu. DCS:BS works fine as does LO:FC Ideas? Thanks

I totally agree with the initial poster: it is a great SIM, but watching ATGMs and SAMs track through woods is just silly. Tactically, the AI is just too dumb to be interesting - you can only plink so many tanks before it gets boring ... which is such a shame since the flight part is great! Roll on the DCS:FastJets so we can get back to shooting at real people!
-
I'd like to see: - Better sense of flight during landing and stalling - Better AI in ground vehicles - Remove the AA fire control radar from those BMP-2s! - Better modeling of trees - no more ATGMs flying through forests - Over wing vapor - definitely - Better weather - clouds etc - Better missile modeling - perhaps we can leave that until we have some fighters ;) - Better radio environment - chatter from AI/GC etc But, hey, its looking good!

Does the sound keep running?

Nothing from ED?

I've set a dead zone on my Thrustmaster Cougar of 5, 10. 20, 30 and despite, this even the smallest twitch of the pitch sends the A-10 bucking? Does this feature work? Does it have to be enabled somewhere apart from the tune axis page? Thanks, James

Thanks for the link EvilBivol, that's great, I never spotted that change and like a few others around like to fly the vanilla frog for the lack of sophistication in the cockpit. Not that rockets have been re-worked and guns are effected by wind it should be even more fun! One thing, you used to be able to fire 2 gun pods and the internet gun together and the switches for this seem to have been changed - is this still possible?
-
Agreed it increases the challenge and looks great visually, but I'd be happier if they were just a little less accurate unless they have some radar fire-control system like on dedicated AAA systems. I'm sure in RL everyone fires at ground attack a/c - hitting a hovering helicopter is one thing but to hit a crossing, weaving jet regularly while flying away from you at 300mph from 1000m while bouncing along in a moving AFV with nothing but a telescopic sight ... seems a tad optimistic!
-
I have to agree for BMP-2s too ... they can track and hit a crossing targets with apparent ease - is this realistic?
-
Its is very similar ... just different enough to be a pain. However, given that configuring my Cougar initially took weeks of effort to get it just right, the move from FC1 to FC2 hasn't been too bad.
-
I play on my dual core laptop and seem to get significantly better performance that FC1 ... I would guess it is off-loading more to my GPU - which gets much hotter under FC2 than 1!
-
FC2: This has happened a few times now and in almost every mission... flying along and the screen freezes. You can carry on flying (but the screen doesn't update) or even hit <Esc> and Q to quit and it will return the the menus. Played LO:FC1 with not issues. Everything up to date. I've tried switching on/off various Nvidia settings and still happening. Happened on the very first mission I 'fly' before I edited any config/lua files, ie. on a clean install. No mods etc installed. HW: HP 8710w laptop with an Nvidia Quadro 3600 video, WinXP. Thanks, James

Good to know, thanks Yoda.
-
Oh, well ... off to buy FC2 - well done ED!
-
Shame, I get the impression it makes a huge difference ...
-
So have any changes been done to the high/low shots versus low/high shots?
-
I thought it had a seeker optimised for over-water use ... what ever that means.
