  1. So, to use auto-hover sound the director be engaged or not? Auto-hover never seems to work for me ... the thing just drifts off, usually backwards BTW The producers notes are a great help - any chance of a few more on basic flight?
  2. What situations should be avoided to not suffer this? I've ready another thread on the subject but this is more about the balde physics. A few times I'm been 'flying' without doing anything too dramatic (flying up a valley) and suddenly the blades seem to have come apart (no baad guys around). From the cockpit guages I can't see anything too bad - no over-speed, blade RPM ok etc. Any ideas? I'm obviously missing soemthing fundamental!
  3. If you fly and can see your shadow, when the shadow of the KA passes over a building it grows in size by too large an amount - doubling or trippling in size.
  4. This has happened a few times ... flying along, doing nothing special when the cockpit/helicopter disappears. Still hear sound, still flying (I know because I crash soon after), I can see the mouse cursor can hit esc and q to quit and the menu loads .... Running on an HP 8710w laptop with a Quadro 8800 like video card, 4GB RAM.
  5. For me, it was certainly on the website ...
  6. A note on the AP/Trimming would be very helpful! The manual is rather brief on the subject only saying what the buttons do and given some of us don't understand Russian, the trainnig sessions are a mystery! The button to the right of the 4 AP channels (the flight director) - what is the difference between the flight director and the AP? Why is it that you can be flying along fairly happily and suddenly the KA seems to go wild, gyrating all over the place? Often going inverted or pointing straight down and usually crashing. This is usually associated with re-trimming. Any ideas? EDIT: Ok, forget this last bit, my Cougar has always had a faulty S4 button, which maps to trim and was firing off random trim commands all the time!!!!
  7. When you purhcased BS you were given an activation code ...
  8. For the next manual, please don't use yellow boxes with little yellow numbers on a white background - very difficult to read!
  9. Cheers Lester, I'll give that a go.
  10. All, I weakened and bought the Russian version of BS. I get the error message 'This application has failed to start because pthreadGC2.dll was not found'. The app then goes on to load ok ... anyone any ideas? A search showed that there are 2 threads in the Russian forum relating to it but, not speaking Russian I'm no further forward Thanks, James
  11. These have been around a while ... http://users.skynet.be/bs999158/LomacDownload.htm
  12. I'm sure the Russians/Indians have war reserved modes and features just like us ... it would be stupid to go play the USA backyard with all that intel gathering around and user all you toys just to look big. I'm sure the Indians are far too smart for that ... like the French ;)
  13. I think it is worth remembing that the SUs were not operating their electronics in full - only 'Test mode' whatever that means. Apparently, there were a load of other lectures that got pulled concerning the J-11 and J-10. I think the bottom line was a good pilot in an F-15 can kill a rookie in a Su-30 most of the time, but put good pilots in both and the USAF needs the F-22. Oh and modern jammers are very effective, allowing even planes like the Mig-21 with mods to get close and lethal!

  15. I play on a laptop, so upgrade the hardware every couple of years - a Dell, another Dell and now an HP.
  16. I hope so too, otherwise all this waiting will have been in vain. PS> Nive track GGT.
  17. I'll buy it in the hope it'll help the development of a jet ... but slow helicopter v stupid AI, no thanks.
  18. Very Funny ... sad but true. On thread, I guess all those little ATGMs give you 4x more shots than an A-10 ...
  19. Agreed ... :(
  20. Weta, With respect, it is you who have missed the point - in this field, there will always be guessing, randomness and approximation! Tons of stuff is classified (and somestuff will always be) and the power of our systems IS finite (you can't model it all). Even the pilot of a KA-50 has no idea what will happen in certain circumstances so how can ED model it gaurenteed 100% accurate? eg. The damage effects of an AMRAAM on the a/c? Lots of randomness and guesswork ... And as long as it 'feels' right and has no obvious gaffs that's good enough for this armchair ace!
  21. Does anyone have an English translation of a doc on the Check-six web site titled 'Le Combat Air/Air BVR en F-15C dans Lockon"? I'm ashamed to say my minimal French isn't up to the task and it looks like the author has put a ton of effort into it! Thanks, James
  22. I'm sure they will be GGT, plus all the experience ED gained from what happened in LO ...
  23. We've been promised A2A combat at some point in the future 1, 2, 3 years ... I don't think the info is going to be declassified anytime soon! So there will be guess work in DCS ... but provided it's believable to the majority of us (who will never get into a fighter let alone fly one) - then fine. Just don't go believing everything in DCS will by 100% true ...
  24. Lets be honest, there is already a ton of guess work - eg. AMRAAM/R-77 performance, radar modes/performance for all a/c, SAMs etc ... educated guess work sure, but a ton. I'm sure they could do a believable F-15E if they wanted to ... Janes did years ago. Lets just hope ED get missiles/seekers/ECM a little more believably than they did in LO ... then I'll be getting my wallet out :)
  25. I'm sure they already have them ... http://www.flight-manuals-on-cd.com/F15.html
