I've set a dead zone on my Thrustmaster Cougar of 5, 10. 20, 30 and despite, this even the smallest twitch of the pitch sends the A-10 bucking? Does this feature work? Does it have to be enabled somewhere apart from the tune axis page?
Thanks,
James
Thanks for the link EvilBivol, that's great, I never spotted that change and like a few others around like to fly the vanilla frog for the lack of sophistication in the cockpit. Not that rockets have been re-worked and guns are effected by wind it should be even more fun!
One thing, you used to be able to fire 2 gun pods and the internet gun together and the switches for this seem to have been changed - is this still possible?
Agreed it increases the challenge and looks great visually, but I'd be happier if they were just a little less accurate unless they have some radar fire-control system like on dedicated AAA systems.
I'm sure in RL everyone fires at ground attack a/c - hitting a hovering helicopter is one thing but to hit a crossing, weaving jet regularly while flying away from you at 300mph from 1000m while bouncing along in a moving AFV with nothing but a telescopic sight ... seems a tad optimistic!
The best method is not to get fired at in the first place! Get your shot off first and keep your enemy on the defensive until he dies or sneak up on him and hit him before he sees you ... :)
Its is very similar ... just different enough to be a pain. However, given that configuring my Cougar initially took weeks of effort to get it just right, the move from FC1 to FC2 hasn't been too bad.
I play on my dual core laptop and seem to get significantly better performance that FC1 ... I would guess it is off-loading more to my GPU - which gets much hotter under FC2 than 1!
FC2: This has happened a few times now and in almost every mission... flying along and the screen freezes. You can carry on flying (but the screen doesn't update) or even hit <Esc> and Q to quit and it will return the the menus. Played LO:FC1 with not issues. Everything up to date. I've tried switching on/off various Nvidia settings and still happening.
Happened on the very first mission I 'fly' before I edited any config/lua files, ie. on a clean install. No mods etc installed.
HW: HP 8710w laptop with an Nvidia Quadro 3600 video, WinXP.
Thanks,
James
Start with a couple of gun pods ... not as good as the GAU-8, but great fun. Add four of the mid-sized rocket pods and you're good to go. Early on I used to make the mistake of loading too much on the Frog and it would really struggle.
Now you are being funny ... The A-10s data link system is more sophisticated that the horrendous collection of electronics that make up the Eagle ... I really don't think so.
And they do have ESM you know, ESM includes radar warning systems ;)
Well, we'll just have to disagree ...
Not the A model ... and I don't think a data-link is quite it the same league as a radar with NCTR, various modes of operation etc ... but again, you are entitled to your opinion, ;)
I think the A-10 has far fewer high-tech secret systems that the F-15/Su-27 ... Yes. No radar, on-board jammer and only basic ESM.
Or are you saying ED has been contracted to produce a 15 sim for the USAF?
