  2. So @defeatist99why the reference to it going ‘pit bull’? They just don’t work like that. Plus the 31’s PESA radar is very different anyway, it will appear to do odd things.

  5. The only thing that works for me is: lean forward, reset the VR centre, lean back, physically pull down my VR set and then use the mouse ... but I agree, sooner you'll do you neck in!
  6. Knowing what to do and actually doing it under pressure, at the exact right time, without ripping the wings off, or crashing into the ground, etc are two very different things!

  8. Sorry, not up/down through the menu, but the radar up/down a bit from the pilots seat … and I know this was discussed ad nauseam before, and understand HBs reasoning for not doing it.
  9. @TLTeo agreed. Its not helped by having aircraft at different stages of development, from different eras, by different developers working to different standards on an ever changing platform, with limited open-source data ... but it's fun mostly
  10. I just wish it had a move a bit higher or move lower option. Low seems to make it point straight down and the set elevation at range I find far too clunky to use in PvP. The 'authentic' bit is very situational - 14s using AIm-7s against 3rd gen fighters; you were up against 16s with 120s, so a different kettle of fish completely.
  11. I've had no luck using the Jester (a) the wheel is far too clunky to use in a closing fight (even using Viacom) and (b) it seems to mess up the radar from that point onwards. I think if you are diving on a contact, its time to go PAL IMHO ... if a target it at ground level, I think you need to be down at 17000' to pick them up at 20ish miles in TWS.
  12. What radar mode where you in when diving? Aren't TWS & RWS horizon stabilised?

Suggest you setup a test mission; set up 6 targets (nothing as role) at 100 miles from your 14, at different altitudes, from 1000 to 40000, fly toward them, see what you can see and when they appear and disappear. Now repeat with you at different altitudes. Try in RWS and then TWS. PS> I personally don't play with the radar elevation from the front seat ... it seems horribly broken.

  16. Sorry, but there are so many points in the above that I disagree with, I don't know where to start!
  17. It may be very cleverly implemented, but unless ED are about to switch shortly to a more sophisticated ECM model across the board, its seems a very odd way to work; you can't just do your own incompatible thing - no wonder there is so much Tomcat hate in some parts of this community.
  18. Likewise, I've not seen any appreciable difference in 54s picking up dropped tracks since the last patch; it's happening depressingly often even with minimal change in target aspect.
  19. No offence taken. As I said on Discord, I think there is a very strong case for dropping the 16 in comps ... it isn't finished and many of its systems are operating in a very simplified OP mode. I also said that if people wanted 'fair' they should all fly the 18 only, the most complete module from ED.

You shoot a phoenix it loses track, you shoot the second one and waaaa bam your first missile is recovered' I appreciate HB, that there is nothing you can do with this, but just to make you aware of the sort of comment which is driving competition decisions.

  22. Be fair, its more like add a new feature (although not always the one we individually want), fix 4-5, and break 1 ... That's the nature of complex development and working in a constantly evolving ecosystem. Any update on when we are likely to see the FM fixes?!
  23. Great to here this has been fixed ... lots of 54s have been going stupid, never to be seen again
