  1. I'm looking more at analysis or screen caps ... but obviously, it should not be available if external views are disabled.
  2. Thanks, but that's more like an F2 for missiles, I was after an F5 style function ... me to missile.
  3. Like the F5 key cycles from an aircraft to nearby aircraft, can we have a key that cycles from an aircraft to nearby missiles please Thanks
  4. For me at least, mirrors have a big hit, so maybe being able to go with just the center would be good. Plus I never use the left and right
  5. No issues on GS or in 6v6 friendlies recently here - bandits showing up fine.
  6. Apparently, some of the French supplied Iraqi Mirage F-1s had fairly sophisticated jamming gear, so it probably depends on what the targets were.
  7. Ahh, so even with the ACM switch down, it just does an ACM style shot ... but still with the 3 sec delay. That would explain the cranked smoke trails you see in PAL mode I guess. PS> Thanks for the explanation, much appreciated!
  8. Ok, so if I PAL lock at 14 miles, how does it guide the 54? PS> I too am getting lots of non-guiding 54s when the bandits move into the notch
  9. @Naquaii, interesting ... once a target is locked in PAL mode, is this similar to a PD-STT mode lock?
  10. Yes, I did see it in the release notes and noted the very odd wording and the fact it was in HBs section and nowhere else. Like many new features that get introduced, ED usually take a few cyclesto perfect it, hence the question to ED. According to Bignewy, 'its being tuned', so we'll just have to wait and see how it ends up. That was in the F-18 sub-forum, the issue applies to missiles on a number of platforms, hence the entry here.
  11. Its all silly at times: people firing 10 120s at you on GS, people insisting on turning off the radar as you approach the tanker, 8 v 8 BFM on Df server, desync, Jester, most pilots on final! Comps are very different from the chaos of GS! I've only been doing comps a year or so, and despite all the bugs, 14/54 issues and general 14 'hate', its been great fun flying with/against some very smart, really great guys/gals; obviously its not for everyone, no better or worse than heavy mil-sim'ers or SP players. It also brings new players to the hobby. PS> This isn't war ... not even 2%.
  12. Sorry, I don't use steam. For info, it still happening to me but fairly infrequently, once every few days.
  13. So switching to beam mode gives no advantage when trying to track a beaming target - in DCS?
  14. All aircraft/systems in DCS have bugs - every single one. New bugs seem to get introduced, and some fixed with every update; although it is generally getting better. If we waited until everything was 'fixed', we'd never play anything ... lots of people play competitively and have great fun, its a game, enjoy it however you want.
  15. I've never really understood the rational for the 'on, else off' or 'off, else on' ... why not just have a simple toggle on/off?
  16. Hence my earlier question, does the switch do anything else apart from engage a filter? ie, if you set it to beaming, does it engage any other logic to assist with tracking a target in the notch?
  17. Does this switch have any other effect, other than simply changing the closure filter from 1800 to -600 to 1200 to -1200? Any other radar magic going on to allow you to track a beaming target more reliably? In other words, why not leave it just to nose?
  18. Looks like its using the same FM as the 54! Bleeds energy all over the place ...
  19. Ok, I give up EDIT: Yes, it was Iranian Tomcats in Combat, my error
  20. Referring to 'Iranian Tomcats in Action', a successful engagement of an M2.3 25 at 70k' was prosecuted by 'the 14A accelerated to M1.5 and climbed to 45k' ... so keeping slow was not how they were used in RL combat
  21. Agreed, but even a M2.2 Mig-25 closing on a M1.0+ F-14 ... wouldn't that put the closure over 1800kts?
  22. Do fast high flying Iraqi Mig-25s come into this? There are examples of actual intercepts from Iranian 14s successfully intercepting these. Plus isn't one reason the 14 was purchased was to determine Soviet Mig-25s from over flying Iran? From memory, these required a very small intercept window to be successful and I doubt that involved an off bore site shot from a slow 14 ...
