Unfortunatelly, I'm at work now and will be directly visiting a friend for the weekend. So probably at the beginning of next week.

dnme, I modified the TrackIR profile to cope with this. You can adjust the curves so that certain view directions are amplified more than others. This way, I don't have to break my neck for the most important views. For example: My movement is amplified alot when looking up- and sideways. I don't need the precision to read instruments, but can comfortably look around when flying steep curves or having a look over the shoulder when passing important points/objects on the ground.

Frederf, there were also other threads related to this problem. But there was no explanation or solution. If I remember correctly, there were people stating they do not have any problems (but maybe they are referring to the RCtrl-Enter ouput). Hence, since I experience this behaviour, too, my question: Is this your observation or a confirmed bug?

Since I'm from Germany, I've been there twice. They are continuously building new tracks in additional buildings, you can really spend more than a day there. The couples and a lot other funny things are one of well... the easter eggs of this 'Miniatur Wunderland'. They have hundrets of these hidden everywhere, in buildings, forests etc. Some of them can only be seen if you take a guided tour, because they are hidden on the backside of mountains. There's even a monk doing some... business :D

If I have a look in the Open Beta forums there are still many things left to be fixed, also concerning the flight model. So which version are they using, I thought it was TBS? Is TBS so much further developed compared to DCSW?

Got the same problem here.

Of course good graphics are important for the immersion, but since there are limited development sources, it's the question what to focus on. That said, I like the statement of one of the developers of the racing simulation 'Live for Speed', basically stating: "We want to develop a simulation, not a screenshot generator" :-). Looking at DCS's screenshots, I think they do a pretty good job for such a detailed simulation.

Even though it was also full of clichés, I liked the french movie "Les Chevaliers du ciel" -> "Sky Fighters" a lot more than Top Gun, mainly due to their nice camera work (cameras were mounted on a Mirage).

Well, just a few ideas: If your wife has a horse, she'll spend a lot for her hobby, and you'll hear her saying things like: "this damn blacksmith", "MRI for horses used to be cheaper", "I think I need a trailer" and eventually "You're so lucky you just need a new stick-thing every 6 months." :)

At which height/weather did you experience this and what was the result? I tried yesterday, but somehow nothing special happened. Height was about 36000ft.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

...you forget the Black Shark startup sequence :) -
I don't really understand why people relate the price of the product to the number of vehicles they can steer. I mean, the TADS or ABRIS (in BS) programming seems more complex than other full price games ;)

I was just bored so I surfed to digitalcombatsimulator.com. The purchase was about 2 minutes, I clicked so fast, that I could barely read words like BETA. Now, while downloading, I'll start reading about what I just bought :D
-
So, why did you wait 3 years with your tests and answers? ;)
-
Well, we could also just buy a smarter smartphone that is more youtube friendly ;)

Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions
bfeld replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks for your answer, I'm looking forward to new information. Regarding your last sentence, maybe you got me wrong: FM basics are clear, I read all the information on the DCS/LockOn/TBS-Sites. I was more relating to improvements since FC2.0 / BS 1.02, like if there are improvements to FM, atmospheric model, radio com. modelling, thermodynamics (thanks Bucic for the citation!). Hydraulic-, electric-, fuelsystem and others were explained in detail for Su-25 and BS, so I was just wondering if something changed, because it was not mentioned on the new website. -
Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions

So, concerning the topic: The flight model. Yo-Yo, you mentioned AFM-2 etc., I hoped to read some news about what's happening in the background, but there was also no word on the new website. I'm not the one who knows how to fly. I'm just very interested in physics engines, dynamics modelling, etc.. Any chance to get some insight about improvements made (like FM and the overall "world physics")? Bye, Torsten -
They're talking about Aero, which is the hardware-accellerated desktop GUI that Windows is using for all that pretty (:music_whistling:), eye candy stuff. If you turn it off, the graphics card might have more resources, but the outcome heavily depends on the setup from what I read. You will lose some GUI effects in Windows. The difference concerning Aero when using a multi-monitor setup is, that you can't use the real fullscreen mode as in single monitor setup, it's all diplayed as separate windows (although without any borders).

ChromeWasp: Yes, on the one hand you are right, it's really nice in the LALT+F1-view :), on the other hand, I really like the default cockpit view. Being inside this really three dimensional room where everything else outside is quite far away is immersive, too. Achurro: Anaglyph can be displayed by the video driver, since it's just different colours. For polarised glasses you also need the accordant display method, i.e. additional hardware (the same applies for shutter glasses).

I also tested anaglyphic stereo with Black Shark and was very impressed. By setting up depth and convergence for the best in-cockpit experience, I was also happy with everything outside. The surrounding is somewhat flat then, but it is enough to clearly separate other aircraft from background when flying by. It also helps to determine your height when landing. Honestly, if I look outside my window (in real life) there is not much depth perception for things that are more then a few hundred meters away. It's much more experience. You are used to your real view. I always have the feeling that also in cinemas one tries to make a better impression by exaggerating depth -- it has to differ from what one is used to, and display limitations have to be compensated. So, to cut a long story short: For me, there's no need to optimise for inside and outside depth perception.

I don't know why and if this effect is used here, but the human eye does something similar. The human eye is more sensitive for certain higher frequencies in images. Thus, edges are emphasized, contrast is locally increased. This is called Mach Bands Effect. The (emphasis) filtering is sometimes used to mimic/enhance/please human perception. Apart from this, some of these darker regions around the A10 seem to originate from image compression. Cheers, Torsten

I am also looking forward to the second lesson, really great work, miguez! I thought the lessons were recorded and "only" need some more postprocessing. So I was hoping for a higher frequency of releases, like every two weeks (since there are 33 more lessons to go not speaking of Combat school :smartass: ). With this frequency, it would last 10 years to get the basics ;) .

Hi, Rant6, your post (it was more a reminder for me :) ) made me ordering anaglyph stereo glasses today and I'm really looking forward to it. I was always fascinated by one particular scene in the movie Avatar: When the camera was located inside these military helos, there was a very clear but limited 3D space -- the cockpit. And then, outside and just seperated by the windows, there was the depth of Pandoras landscape. Bye, Torsten

Edit: Upps, hatte mich verlesen und den Link zu Black Shark angegeben. FC2.0 ist leider nicht auf Deutsch erhältlich.
