  3. flankerOne; could you test the engines the way A16 described? I doubt it will make any difference but at least it would be verified. I can test it on weekend the earliest.
  4. Good idea! Didn't think of that. The earliest I can test is weekend because I'll reinstall the whole system onto an SSD. I would appreciate if you host them but it's no big deal of it's trouble. I'm studying jet engines at home so I'm finding this thread and further information very interesting.
  5. Thanks for the quick answer! FlankerOne did the test at standard atmospheric conditions at sea level so that shouldn't affect it really. I assume he was flying forward though and the table assumes "H=0, V=0" which is altitide and speed zero? Would that affect the readings so much? If it does, we would need to strap the helicopter down somehow to test it because by the time you stabilize the EGT at a certain reading you would be quite high already. What do you think? By the way, is the engine cutout picture your own or can we find it online? Can't check Google yet.

  7. The Russian flight manual states it in better detail that the gauge is in fact T3 = gas temperature before turbine. You can also disregard what I was wondering. The difference between T3 and "true" EGT would be opposite of your findings.
  8. I'm wondering if the table and the EGT gauge show a different thing. See the table shows the T3 temperature which is in fact turbine entry temperature. Now the question is, does the EGT gauge measure the T3 or the "true" EGT (after turbines)? EDIT: Also the table assumes that the H=0, V=0 which is altitide and speed zero?

  10. The Russian manual says: Perhaps it illuminates during cranking when it's needed to check the oil system without starting the engines? Someone should try cranking. Maybe I'll do it today. EDIT - The engine start instructions say it should illuminate during normal engine start so this might be a bug:
  11. Don't want to be a smart arse but even though they are called turbine engines, the turbine is in the back of the engine and what you see from the front is the compressor or what was already mentioned. You see the turbine blades from the back, not the front.

  14. The emergency DC bus feeds the inverter, not the Ralt or FQI directly. If you turn the inverter off, it will not feed the Ralt or FQI. The inverter is the only link from emergency DC bus to the AC equipment if the generators are off. The inverter switch is the key here. If you look at the electrical schematic, it does exactly what is said in the description. However the 13-21 part might be misleading because it lists the equipment we are talking about as if all of them operate on DC power. You are right in that part. I would explain the DC emergency bus first and remove all the equipment from the list fed by the inverter and only after that list what the inverter feeds. Seikdel; I doubt it. The 13-21 lists equipment that is fed by the inverter and the inverter itself which creates confusion. I might be missing something obvious though. :D I haven't really slept.
  15. It's all correct as far as I can see. The AC equipment you are talking about are normally fed by and AC system when the generators are feeding them. When they fail or you switch them off, some of the vital systems you listed will now be fed with AC by the inverter. The inverter in turn is fed by the DC system and uses it to transform DC to AC. It sort of interconnects the two systems for those equipment you listed but is only operational when the generators are NOT. :) I hope I make sense. PS. There are no stupid questions. Feel free to ask more! This does mean alot in the sim and should work as advertised. As long as you keep the inverter switch in the "auto" position, you don't have to worry about it.
  16. The emergency bus is only DC. The inverter connected to the DC bus is what powers some of the AC equipment on the emergency DC bus. The radar altimeter, fuel quantity indicator etc use AC from the inverter. Sorry for multiple edits. I'm not really thinking straight right now. I slept only 3 hours last night.

  21. For some reason I can't read the whole article. I only see the beginning and can't see how I could expand it. o_O But that happens every once in a while here. Russians test the alert readiness of other air forces and sometimes their navigation is just plain bad. No big deal.
