Here's my profile. I'm using my custom Snapview file with a hat switch which is really useful even though I have a TrackIR. It's really quick and much more precise than zooming and breaking your neck while bending into awkward positions. I'll post the Snapview file and example photos if you wish. I also disabled TrackIR zoom and use a hat switch for that. My preference. My deadzones and curves are default for the Fighterstick but you have to check my screenshot for the ministick settings in game. Set these settings for both vertical and horizontal slew. I haven't assigned every single button so you have a choice to add a few own ones. I just assigned the most useful for me that I would expect to find on a HOTAS of this helicopter. Oh and use this profile in MAPPED mode. BS2 Griffin.zip BS2 Griffin.pdf

What over clock is you're CPU running?
Griffin replied to TimeKilla's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It probably would hurt. Use RealTemp or CoreTemp software for accurate reading when LOADED. Don't trust BIOS. For loading you can use Intel Burn test or Prime95. Both vital for overclockers. -
I'll post mine later today. I feel it's quite comfy and something the like Kamov should have designed from beginning.

Anyone Figure Out How to Drop Bombs?
Griffin replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Great guide! Thanks for sharing. I tried to make sense of bombing once upon a time but found it useless. Don't remember how different my technique was from this but in certain cituations this could work really well. Gonna test this too. -

Q9550 (2.83GHz standard) @ 3.7GHz 1.328V FSB 8.5 x 436 MHz Right now I'm only restricted by the temperature, although the voltage is getting a tad high. My motherboard has a huge Vdroop. I might try to go 3.8GHz when I start playing DCS more actively. It was pretty easy to get stable but then again I didn't need to touch North Bridge voltages or the like. Just FSB and voltage. The previous owner of my CPU lapped it so it helps. -
T-72 with Kontakt-5 ERA shot 5 times by 125 mm rounds from 100 m. No penetrations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5v3MZErD4kg

It's the cannon ammo cooking off. Sometimes it blows the whole turret off.

Two Syrian rebels one after another almost put a mortar round into the tube upside down. Syrian rebels using trebuchets!

Well "speed is life" probably applies to helicopters too. If you watch the numerous Apache videos from Afghanistan and Iraq, they are always moving. Same for Cobra videos and the like. Only very few videos exist showing attacks from hover and there was some external view training video of Apaches firing while hovering. There was a series called Helicopter Wars and if you can find the episode where a Lynx was dueling with a skilled tank commander in Iraq. The Lynx had to keep flying racetrack patterns to keep itself out the sights of the tank. Mi-24 was built as a high speed attack helicopter. Speed was supposed to be one of it's advantages AFAIK.

I wish we had flechette rockets. Sometimes it's very hard to kill infantry with area weapons and GAU-8 I've heard(?). Saturate an area with a flechette salvo and job well done!

AHAHAH that was so brilliant! :D I already got tired of the Hitler videos but this was so good! Poor Cowboy... :D EB1 started working immediately and posted another video! Thanks for starting my day!

Despite this video having a very nice artillery demo, the demonstration style of the soldiers is pure comedy. :D http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=363_1365746968

Wow that was amazingly accurate! Just as I remember it. Don't remember seeing Focke Wulf Condors (and Messerschmitts?) on the MIL side though. :D
-
Yep it does. I've been doing it for under 3 years though. You can learn it in about a year though in near future I'm probably going to start doing alot more from the mechanical side too. I'm trying to study at home, evolve and eventually either progress to other positions, go back to school for a higher degree (or pilot) or find a way out of the rat race. ;) Though it's a job worth keeping for the time because it's a very nice working place and because of the terrible work situation here.

The originals are silent so you might just as well turn the sound off or play something yourself you find suitable. Check at 0:36 in the video below. Apparently a friendly aircraft gets destroyed by a massive explosion on the ground. And many great ones on this channel below:

Commercial turbofan technician/electrician. We overhaul CF6-80 (B747, MD-11, A330) and CFM56-5B (A320) engines. I mainly do the electrical equipment disassembly, testing/checking, repairing, installation and other maintenance work. Graduated as an avionics technician from college.

Thank you very much for these stories! I will definitely buy the campaign as soon as I get my pedals. It's great to hear how well the campaign has survived the evolution of DCS. I hope this will breathe some life in the future campaign development business. I think they should contact you for advertising business. ;)

It's not a rain collector, it's a psychological decoy. Instead of bombing the high value factory, every cocky pilot thinks "Could I put a bomb down that chimney? Could I? YES I CAN!" Then the bomb goes down into that decoy masked as a chimney, instead it's a concrete bunker which absorbs the energy and directs the blast up to the sky. It's the perfect decoy for the less developed countries who are against the most trained and cocky Top Gun generation elite pilots with new high precision targeting gizmos.

Could you tell which manual are those images from?

Yeah I was just correcting that point till you could say how it actually hits.

A Hellfire climbs first and then flies towards the target.

ARENA and such are designed for very small weapons compared to what is used in the naval warfare. As such they would be insufficient. Also someone mentioned in another thread that a missile that is shot up by CIWS might be already so close that the warhead might hit the ship anyway. In such case an ARENA would perform even worse (let alone with high speed, high explosive ship cannon shell). If I'm not completely wrong, the ARENA and such are supposed to destroy the form of the HEAT warhead. The shape of the warhead is vital to concentrate the warhead's explosive energy into one spot. When the shape is destroyed by ARENA or ERA, it will no longer work as supposed and the armor itself has easy time taking what's left of the blast. It probably works the same way against the APFSDS. So as ARENA is supposed to destroy the projectile's armor penetration ability, it will not do any good in naval environment where the explosives are much bigger and might still hit the ship (and are not supposed to be armor penetrating).
