I moved in with a girl who has a baby. Yes my DCS time has dropped almost to zero. The sim must work flawlessly to get a decent flight every now and then. That's why I have been upgrading systems and controllers lately and trying to set everything up so well that every time I have free time, I could just sit down and fly instead of fighting some problem. Would help if she did more housework as I'm the only one with a job and still doing half of the housework. And on weekends I'm still the one waking up early to take care of the kid! Ok, end of rant. :D I often miss the old times though I don't exactly regret moving in with her. If only the work load would be evenly split, my life would be seriously easier! Real life really takes too much time and is overrated. :D

Good stuff guys! Great to have such people fixing stuff when the sim is falling apart. Could you post the file for offline use? Tuning to a friendly ADF is an important part in my start up to act as a backup to HUD and ABRIS failure. And that has happened! I also like to practise the NDB approaches described in the manual. Lots of fun and challenge. Erforce should add this to his list.

It's the ammo cooking off. Meaning that the tank ammunition catches fire from the penetrated RPG and bursts into violent fire.

Can we have this little Huey feature in our BS?
Griffin replied to sylkhan's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
So in conclusion; - The realism of the current implementation is subjective depending on the rudder pedals you have. - There is an option to turn on/off the FFB for joysticks. It's undeniable that we must have the same option for rudder pedals as some of us have "FFB" (non-centering) pedals and some have spring loaded pedals. This explains the first point. - Another module (UH-1H) has this option. Despite the differences in both aircraft's control systems, the effect on realism is the same and again is subjective depending on the rudder pedals you have. Thank god for PeterP's mod. Without it people would be forced to use either Saitek or CH pedals to get the desired behavior. With realistic pedals, flying this sim would be nearly impossible. So please ED. Consider your views on the "realism" and treat different pedal users the same way you have done with FFB stick users. -

Centering your pedals every time you trim is just as unrealistic as not having rudder trim at all. You can't really compare the functionality to non-FFB joysticks. I'll be getting non-centering pedals soon. Some people even remove centering springs from their Saitek and CH pedals. In these more realistic scenarios the rudder trim is even more of a burden. It should be made optional like in UH-1H module exactly for the purpose of making it more realistic. -
Very nice actually! Smooth even though you got peppered the crap out of you. But man... stand off is the word.

Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group, has served as a stewardess on an AirAsia X flight after losing a bet with AirAsia's owner Tony Fernandes. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151469164379389&set=a.259595019388.140710.58838199388&type=1&theater

I had Saitek pedals for a couple of years and they felt cheap, plastic (duh!) and sticky. I lubricated them several times but the stickiness didn't go away. The center detent also bothers in precise applications such as helicopter flying. PeterP has posted a way to remove the detent. It's a simple mod but I still managed to break my pedals doing it. Ironically I'm supposed to fix jet engines at work while I can't fix toy pedals... :P I was not happy with them and finally got a real reason to buy new ones so I ordered KomodoSim ProAT Pedals. Hand made in England by a real helicopter pilot. ;) I have high hopes for them but I think they are out your price range (225£ + vat). You get what you pay for though and I have noticed that to be true. Hopefully with these too. AFAIK these have exactly the same mechanism as the combat ones. The looks is just different. And the price obviously...

Possible dead H60 pump stos DCS play
Griffin replied to Ratfink's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How much have the temperatures been exactly and what program is complaining? Have you tried listening to the pump real close? -
Thanks a lot to Nate for testing and reporting and whoever at ED who fixed this. I can now look forward to flying campaigns as soon as I get my KomodoSim pedals! To Nate; please keep up the good work and recommend some of our active Shark pilots to be testers.

That was awesome writing! Even as dead tired as I am right now it was a joy to read and I could see your story unfolding as a moving picture in front of my eyes instead of plain text. Thank you!

The option should of course be built in to the sim but the mod for that is simple enough by itself too. :) -
The things that we are talking about are something that can be fixed and what you are talking about are what can't be fixed, yet. So we are not wasting our energy beating a dead horse. We are complaining about things that keep disappearing and getting broken patch by patch. ED has done great job introducing new stuff too but I feel sorry for chaps building fancy home cockpits for a sim that keeps decaying. Highly anticipating the EDGE (not Nevada though). That will fix the true things that matter as you said. But till then we can only complain about what we can to keep ourselves occupied :D (and hopefully ED too).

Maybe we just shouldn't buy modules we think we'll be flying for more than a couple of years? Two years and hope an interesting module is released or change your main sim for the next couple of years. That seems to be the realistic lifespan, after that new modules are a priority and old products can be forgotten and decay?

This raised a question to me. To what extent are the radios coded in military aircraft? I know they have to have the regular VHF to blend with the civilian traffic but are Russian radios coded at all? Seems like quite a risk for someone to record such conversations. A-10C radios can be used in secured mode:
