  1. Sorry my bad. EvilBivol has indeed explained us many things in a much more clear way than what one could find on the Russian side. I'm having some kind of dementia day. Just too eager for detailed information I guess.
  2. Many stories from Navy Seawolves in Vietnam. This particular story has 15 parts so there's enough text for a book! I've read the Chickenhawk (very recommended) and Low Level Hell and this is at least comparable. Very entertaining. If you are not patient, you can start directly from this action packed part: http://www.seawolf.org/stories/scrmbl05.asp Thanks to Sundowner for these!
  3. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1623122&postcount=271 The dev is talking about the plans to include the sling loading and future inclusion of troop insertion/extraction (animated soldiers perhaps). He's very active on the Russian side. Shame that not here, most of the potential customers would definately be western.
  4. Post cool pics and vids here! Despite the module still being so mysterious, I'm warming to the upcoming Huey, reading stories and watching videos. Here are some; The firepower is truly awesome! Reading the stories, of for example Seawolves, makes you really appreciate it. Check out this guys channel too! Vietnam!
  5. According to helicopter professionals here it is too forgiving. AFAIK none of them had flown a coaxial helicopter but it should not be that different. This is propably a limitation of the game engine as Yo-Yo has checked the values many times and corrected them too. Many professionals have also said that this is the best helicopter flight model ever made. Apart from autorotation, I don't believe the real deal is any harder but it is of course different in a way that you would have to fly a bit to get used to. It will be interesting to see how Belsimtek's UH-1H behaves in autorotation and in general. Hopefully their flight model will be equally praised in the sim community and thus pave the way for more helicopters. For example people who like flying helicopters in FSX/X-Plane would find that DCS is a better helicopter sim platform, spread the reputation and soon perhaps some of the developers would come here. Right now it's not easy to jump to a new platform when you have your Dodo/Nemeth etc helicopters in your preferred sim. But this is offtopic already...
  6. There is no sim that does that. There is no sim that has a high quality UH-1H. Does this module solve both problems? No, but it does bring a cool helicopter onto my favourite platform. The other part is not Belsimtek's fault. If I can get a cookie but not the whole jar, I'm happy. Now why they chose Huey is another question but there are many Huey fans out there who would love it in any way possible. There are thousands of FSX/X-Plane pilots who just fly from point A to point B and are happy. There will be Huey pilots who will do just the same. The advantage of DCS is that it actually can simulate some elements of combat and an advanced mission editor can be used to create stories and mission like in ToH. The fans of Huey can be happy for getting one and non-fans can... well just keep dreaming. Huey won't keep me entertained forever either but we can only wait.
  7. If I can choose a platform for UH-1, it would be DCS no matter how helpless it's in some particular mission. It's a matter of opinion which platform one prefers.
  8. I'll tell you my point of view. I want to keep it simple, I want to have the least amount of different sims. I don't want 8 different sims on my PC to be able to fly one aircraft in particlular and take all that time to setup all the sims and fiddle with them night after night. That's why I don't buy CD's. I never like more than a couple of songs, so what's the point? For FSX there's only a couple of aircraft I'd really want to fly. Saab Draken and DodoSim. Same for X-Plane. I hear ToH is crap so I don't want to touch it even if it's "fun despite lack of realism". That's just not me. Now if I get a highly realistic helicopter for DCS, one of my main platforms, where I can shoot, have military equipment and co-op with other people and perhaps be a part of SAR/gunship team in a big multiplayer environment, then it's a total win for me! Everybody have their own opinion and we get like one thread every week turning somehow into a wish list. Yes I'd like some other helicopter too but I still love Huey and respect the choise of the dev's.
  9. Autorotation instructions from the upcoming manual in Russian. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1622138&postcount=246
  10. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1622170&postcount=251 Дадим надеюсь! До уровня беты готовы))..пока ждем, так многое из релизного плана уже готово, но конечно еще не все. "We hope to release before christmas. Right now we wait. So much of the release plan is ready but of course not everything."
  11. Finally! I guess I should check the Russian forum rather. It looks a bit crude but I guess a small picture doesn't do it justice. Everything's usually better live.
  12. +1 This is the most mysterious module by far. Very little media and info only through a messenger. Sounds like Ukrainian scam email. :D The beta before christmas sounds very very unlikely since there's no real media even. Well that was to be expected. I don't understand when people ask Beczl to constantly tell something and post screenshots all the time when he's regularly talking with people and telling how's it going and the whole website is amazing for one man but here's another story. Would be nice to get something.
  13. Hope this affects P35 chipsets too. Annoying when the computer hangs after monitor goes to sleep. Thanks Mustang!
  14. That's older version of what's available. We have a documentation thread here but the link to the original seems dead again. I uploaded the 1988 manual to my drive though. Here's the link: TM 55-1520-210-10
  15. Thanks Sundowner, my new background!
  16. Do you mean the already implemented 3D model in current DCS World or did I miss something? That sounds like you saw something from the actual module.
  17. Here's a modern video of P-51D static test firing. http://www.eaavideo.org/video.aspx?v=1826158611001 I think the gun cam shakes so much because it's mounted in the wing rather close to the guns and the further out from the fuselage you are, the more it shakes. That's how I figure it anyway.
  18. ^That's a great video and here's another from the same channel!^ I'm really impressed with Polish military. They've had the best military development of the former Soviet countries. Really like this helicopter especially.
  19. Harrier crash landing in Kandahar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=3kfness9ne4&feature=fvwp
  20. Some serious vibrations/bouncing on takeoff. Wonder what that was? Start at 3:20
  21. Are those "Lood Bang" type missiles? I've been giggling at the name for a day now. :D The resemblance to western aircraft is stunning right now but I won't shout COPY till they are finished. Some people called PAK-FA a Raptor copy but it looks like from complete different planet compared to these.
  22. Check out the overhead panel. And of course read the manual. :)
  23. Thank you very much for the update! Eagerly waiting for it but not sure if I'll get the beta because I don't know if I want the immersion breaking things present in my little spare time I have for flying. Will however buy it ASAP.
  24. Hey nice to see you're back in one piece! (again) Maybe someday we'll meet in virtual skies! Cool picture, always great to see the professionals who bring their knowledge into out virtual battlefield.
  25. Nice vid but wrong forum part. :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=26107&page=1045
