  1. Just like anything else that's of good quality.. You almost always have to wait for it..... Blaze
  2. Do you want a Commando MB.. ?? Cheap... ~S~ Blaze
  3. Sorry for confusing you... My Sony Vaio had a DVD but over the years,5 to be exact it crapped out.. So when I began building the AMD, to save money I just bought a cd player for it and put a DVD player plus a cd player in the AMD... Well anyway I've been using Asus for now, and I normally get the raid drivers from the web sight.. They are usually the latest out, newer than the drivers on the DVD.. And I get my video drivers from the Invidia web sight... About 80% of everything that's being released now has been in DVD format.. But I should be ok from here on out, the AMD is running fine again and I'm going to keep this as my backup.... I've been toying with the idea for future reference of flashing my bios with a flash drive.... Anyway I hope that I've cleared up a few things, and I'm almost ready to boot up the 680i so I'll keep you up to speed... ~S~ Blaze
  4. Well I got the Bd. mounted in the case but I tried to copy the raid drivers from the disk but I couldn't because its loaded on a DVD.. And my old Sony just has a CD player recorder... And I went to the Asus web sight looking for raid drivers but all that they now have available for download is raid vista drivers, well I'm not quite ready for Vista.... But the good news is that I managed to figure out what I was doing wrong and why I could load the raid drivers into my AMD which has a DVD in it... So I have got it powered up but then P5N-32 disk wouldn't open because the AMD is now running XP Pro 64 ... But I got around it by right clicking and opening it up that way and there is XP 32 bit drivers there.. So everything is cool for now.... I'm going to get some sleep and get a fresh start in the morning... So by tomorrow night I should have this bad boy powered up... I hope... LOL ~S~ Blaze
  5. OMFG... That's too bad Bro... I hope that things work out for you... ~S~ Blaze
  6. I found this board on MWave.. for $ 212.00 USD .... And they were the cheapest.. Other sites have it listed for around $ 300.00 USD, but its not easy to find as the demand for it is high ... I did have it installed in my system about 2 months ago ... I'm actually installing it now again.. It's very fussy regarding the RAM that you select, so the best way to find out what's compatible is by going to the Asus web sight to find this out... ~S~ Blaze
  7. I'm using a Samsung 32" LCD... I had this setup running originally with the 680i, but had some problems getting it run properly.. After I RMA'ed the 680i board and had the Commando installed I found out that the issues I was having were memory related and all I needed to do was bring the settings down one notch... So I was hearing that ATI's new card was going to be a killer so I kept it in and waited to see how this card stacked up... Well the 680i Bd. has just arrived and I'm beginning to remove the Commando from my case.. The card that I'm running is a BFG 8800 gts 620 Mb.. It actually gives a very sharp picture on the Samsung.. The issue is the shadows settings in Lock On, but this I can live with.. The new drivers that were released 2 or 3 weeks ago have helped a little in this respect.. but I'm happy with this cards performance and I think I made the best decision.. ~S~ Blaze
  8. If you have Track IR keep looking at him as well as keeping your A/C all the way toward the outside edge of the runway, and he'll land right behind you... And if you give your bird enough brake you can get him to pass you.. Its cool to follow him to the parking area or where ever you've been assigned to in the editor.. And if you have enough juice in your system and you have the heat blur enabled the immersion is the best there is in these virtual Sky's... ~S~ Blaze
  9. I know that with Compusa if you bought there service plan they usually stand behind the product... But with something like this its gong to have to be sent back to the factory for replacement, They don't stock laptop screens ... So your right Guy you'll be out of action for maybe that long, or maybe even longer.. Sorry to hear about that, it seems like were both going through similar circumstances, bout my high end desk tops are temporarily down and I'm resorting to using my old Sony VAIO .. LOL ~S~ Blaze
  10. I was going to go with an ATI card but on second thought I decided to stay with Nvidia ... I've actually bought a new Asus P5B32-E SLI... Its should be here some time soon, the tracker said it was on the truck for delivery today, so I'm now patently waiting for it ... The Commando that is in my system now is coming out of the case today, Not a bad board but it's not SLI compatible, its a crossfire MB.. So I'm going to sell it on e-bay for $100.00 USD.. Yeah I'm taking a loss as I paid $320.00 USD 2 months ago... Lock On is about the only sim that I have been into and eventually I'm going with SLI ..... I'll just drop in another 8800 but I'm actually not that concerned with the GPU.... I mean Lock On is much more of a CPU then GPU oriented simulation ... But who knows what we'll need when BS is finally released.... ~S~ Blaze
  11. Well Yeah, choppers do carry AtA but there just mainly used for defense.... ~S~ Blaze
  12. I just punch CTL+T to retrim.... With Russian birds this has to be done frequently.. But you're right about altitude hold, this woks quite well on long flights... Since I have TIR 4 I have freed up the stick hat switch and was trying to use this for trimming out...but so far I haven't been too successful... It seems when I start to try and set it up something else comes up.. But I think that trimming useing this method should give you the best results ... I should get around to it sooner or later.. :music_whistling: ~S~ Blaze
  13. Yes I'm thinking about going with SLI as well after the Black Shark release... ~S~ Blaze
  14. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2795 http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/09/10/four_cores_on_the_rampage/ I'm afraid that AMD has lost its lead in the CPU race... Take a look at the two sites that I've listed above... That will give you the lowdown on just how strong intels 2 Core Duo is... I've built a number of systems featuring AMD processors, But have gone with Intel this time .. Another thing concerning Newegg... I would seriously look at doing some comparison shopping before buying from them.. I've spent thousands of dollars on electronic hardware and even work in the field... Newegg tends to charge more then anyone else and doesn't always have what you're looking for... http://www.bizrate.com/ This site helps you to find the best market price available at the time... Oh and one other thing regarding your choice of GPU's.. I'm presently running an 8800 and its extremly powerful, so much so that its stronger then the 7900 series running in SLI .. In Lock On you really won't need to go SLI for now anyway as Lock ON is more CPU reliant then GPU... ~S~ Blaze
  15. Just a thought... You might try lowering the settings for your RAM ... ~S~ Blaze
  16. Yeah.. I'm going through some real issues with my gaming system right now... For some stupid reason I disabled my Internet connection and then I couldn't enable it again.. So after trying to reformat and getting the proverbial txtsetup.oem error about 15 times I just decided to dump my commando mobo and I'm going back to the 680i again. Hopefully I'll be able to get this to install properly this time.. Everything was running fine until I tried to install a bogus addon for one of the other flight sims that I sometimes fly... I should have know better...:music_whistling: ~S~ Blaze
  17. Now this is without a doubt the best collection that I've seen yet.. I'm book marking this one, nice find guy... ~S~ Blaze
  18. As far as I know, Ed has quite a lot of data available at the present.. But I don't think that they've actually reached a decision as to whether they will add this bird into the lineup... As we've discussed this in several other threads I think... The naval aspect of this simulation has been moved to the back burner for now... ~S~ Blaze
  19. I've been all over Cougar world regarding the replacement sticks for the last 4 years.. Apparently Thrustmaster feels that this is far to expensive for them develop.. I've been waiting for some brave individuals to come up with something like this for quite some time.. So I've been happily following this thread from the beginning ... HPO and Joe: You gentleman are doing a tremendous job working out the kinks in this ProtoType.. I have the utmost confidence that you'll be able to sort this all out... With all of the people that fly Lock On using a Cougar I'm sure will buy this addon... And even if they don't use Cougars, I'm betting that they'll buy a Cougar just to be able to use your Stick Mod.. And I'd like to add that I also enjoyed the training video of the silicon mold procedure, So I think that Thrustmaster most likely would have to farm out these procedures, makeing development of some thing along these lines out of the question, because of cost.. But since your squad does these things as a profession, your cutting out the middleman thus making this feasible... Please feel free to correct if I'm wrong... ~S~ Blaze
  20. My point is that if ED can make figures like the one in the shot above they can implement them into the game in any form that they chose too... And when this shot was first released there was a post from the developers.. It was concerning the motion of the figure.. It was confirmed by them that the arms will move in this simulation... Whether it was part of the stinger sight or not, they are present in BS.. So apparently they can be modeled in the sim... As far as adding additional combat troops, it again appears that its possible... Blaze
  21. Why go the extra expense of buying an Apple... The screen isn't made buy them, Its most likely an LG or Samsung... These are about the only 2 company's that make the screens for the entire industry... I know that your really stuck on this Apple Kuk... But you'll get just about the same quality with all of the LCD's available today... What your going to pay for here is the brand name and the packaging.... And thats a fact... ~S~ Blaze
  22. Actually I was running my TV/Monitor at 1024 x 768, but I discovered the other day that I can actually run it at 1280 X 768.. Now at this resolution the screen is just as clear as regular monitor, but of course its size makes it seem closer to R/L... And the prices are dropping for these with in the last year, so I recommend it.. ~S~ Blaze
  23. I'm dumping the Commando motherboard that I presently have... And I'm planning on going back to the Asus 680i that I had in the first place .. I've just bought a very nice componant 7.1 system with these awsome Infinity speakers to compliment my PC.. Its like I'm clearing the decks and getting ready for the next battle... ~S~ Blaze
  24. He Brit what about these guys here, don't they count ?? Before we start talking about hacking Ed's game... I think we should wait and see what they plan on doing first.. And I'm sure that none of us know exactly what they will be included in the next add on, Beta tester or not.... Blaze
