  1. I live in the area were space is at a premium so its sort of out of the question for me ... I've maneged to set up a pit of sorts, here in my apartment without cluttering up things too much... But I always like seeing the ingenuity that guys have used in making the hobby that much more realistic... ~S~ Blaze
  2. That is Amazing stuff... The attention to detail at this level is beyond belief... That's truly a dedicated guy... ~S~ Blaze
  3. Well yes Lock On is more of CPU based game .. I had an AMD 64 3200 cpu, for 2 years, I was ok, but I was getting mimi stuttering and low FPS over cities.. But that was what we had to deal with at that time .. Since then I've added a e6600 and I gotten some major improvements all the way around.. But I think that you're right for waiting until Black Shark is released, You'll have a better understanding of just what you'll need.. But again I don't think the GPU will be the issue as the code will still be attached to the present engine... Now when ED releases their next engine, that should be a whole new world for us to discover.. ~S~ Blaze
  4. This sounds like your going to have a lot of fun ... I only wish that I could be there but I'll be there in spirit " my man " !!!! All the best ~S~ Blaze
  5. Oh and by the way the 8800 is also the best choice for GPU's at the moment... The drivers work very well with Lock On with one exception .. The shadows can't be run at high settings, but that's about the only real issue ... ~S~ Blaze
  6. Yes AMD is not cutting edge at the moment.. I was a big AMD fan until the the newest 2 Core Duo's came out ... I'm now using an e6600 and this is the best that I've been able to get Lock On to run by far.... ~S~ Blaze
  7. Don't cry...:( With the huge amount of data I hear is now in ED' possession.. there just might be something there to realistically present the F-15 in all of her true glory... ~S~ Blaze
  8. Sure sounds like you have a handle on it guy.. Did you run a driver cleaner before this last installation?? ~S~ Blaze
  9. Ed has most likely begun to set up a new system for implementing a AFM that's similar to what's now present with the to the SU 25T And I'd venture to say that this includes clickable cockpits as well .. I personally believe that Black Shark will be the culmination of all of the R&D that's been taking place since the release of Flaming Cliffs. The Black Shark simulation will be a template of sorts to be used for future Aircraft representation... So from my understanding ED's fully concentrating on completion the Black Shark project, and once this is finalized a template of sorts will be in place.... And to loosely quote Wag's comments on this, the next choices will be based upon how much data is available before the next aircraft will be modeled... With all of the posts that I've read concerning these things I expect that we'll see things begin to move more rapidly in future.. I really enjoy fixed wing simulation but who knows I might really enjoy a chopper sim even more.. There for I'm looking forward to Black Shark... ~S~ Blaze
  10. I'm thinking that the fault just might be with the card.. I ran a 6800,7800,7900 series and presently its 8800gts 630 MB, and I've never seen this before.. Why don't you RMA it and try a new one, I'll bet you, once you try a new GPU.. These issues will disappear.. ~S~ Blaze
  11. This sounds terrible.. I certainly was expecting a better start here .. Lets see what happens next... It might be too early to judge, but Like I said this doesn't look good... ~S~ Blaze
  12. LOL.. To get back on topic... I was thinking about the specs needed to be able to play BS ... I'm sure that considering all of the addional details that are being developed, (and the addon hasn't even gotten a candidate for release yet) ... So I'm sure that we'll need a very powerful system to run it on... I just upgraded but I think I'm most likley going to have to upgrade my GPU once BS hits the shelves.... ~S~ Blaze
  13. This is really nicely done... It's well organized and seems like it's a lot of fun to attend... I only wish that we had something this cool here in the States, but I really don't think that it would have that much support... And if it was put together here, it would most likely be out West somewhere.. So for me it would extremely difficult to get to.. If I had to travel to get there I personally would prefer to go the this one anyway... ~S~ Blaze
  14. I don't know but somehow I just can't picture myself wearing something Like that.. LOL Blaze
  15. I think that He's going to sell these ... It seems like They've created a company with that in mind... It appears that this is the proto type, and I'm sure that They know what they're doing as far as test flying this bird ... ~S~ Blaze
  16. Red... That's a bug that we're all dealing with... I had to lower the shadder settings from high to all planner, to eliminated it... I've got a 8800 GTS 620 MB card since January and I've never used high shader settings so all planer is normal for me... Although the 'nhancer down load looks interesting.. I might just check it out.. ~S~ Blaze
  17. I have to concur with Kuky... Its been proven time and time again... This game is a CPU hog and there's no getting around that.. Therefore there's unfortunately no easy fix for low FPS here.. I you really want to improve it you'll simply have to get a more powerful CPU and that most likely will mean a new motherboard as well... If your going in that direction its better at go with a new build ... This is a reality of flight simmimg, and one of the issues that has plagued the growth of this community for quite a while... In a world of xbox's and playstation's there really aren't many guys that want to spend upwards of 3 K for a new rig every 2 years or so... I would but then this is my hobby... And I'm not a casual virtual pilot... ~S~ Blaze
  18. I just have to say that this man is really talented... I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.. Thanks for sharing ... Now lets see it do what its designed for, Flight... ~S~ Blaze
  19. The white splotches around leading edges are inherent to Nvidia cards.. you have to run shadows at all planer, instead of on the high setting .. Nvidea is also known to have shimmering effects at distance, and that's again inherent, but there's nothing that can be done for this... I think you might go to the nvidia control panel if you haven't all ready, and begin adjusting you settings... Start with low settings and gradually work your way upwards to get the desired effects that you're looking for... As far as Lock On crashing.. It seems like you answered your own question there.. Of course you're gona' have to install the game properly to get it to run right... Let us know how things turn out for you... ~S~ Blaze
  20. Actually I agree with Kuky.... You're system isn't really powerful enough for a High Fi sim like this one.. My rig was about on the same level as the one that you just mentioned when Lock On was first released... I was always trying to find ways to bring up my FPS... Lock On for me was something that I could never get to work for me... So as the systems became more sophisticated, I upgraded and now its three years or so later and I still can't run this sim maxed completely... Although for me its very playable now... And I'm finally happy to see this the way its meant to be seen... I've seen a lot of guy's come and go just for the reasons that you just posted.. So if you like Jet Simulation at its finest, then you came to the right place... But something this good doesn't come cheaply.. My rig just cost me about 3500.00 usd and that not counting the 32" LCD and about 1000.00 USD for my controllers... ~S~ Blaze
  21. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_158.18 http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=detonatorrip Ok.... hope that this helps 'ya.... Dont forget to clean up your system completely before you do anymore installations... So download the second link for the RIP drivers to your desk top And then download the nvidea drivers to your desk top.. then uninstall all of the Lock On files that you have... Clean up your Vid card drivers with the RIP... after you reboot I will be easy to find the new nvidea drivers 'cause they'll be right there on your desk top. you woun't have to look for them ... Once you have the new drivers installed then you can go to tools in the accessory file, do a disk clean up, then defrag.. So after you're finished you're system should be nice and clean.. so then you can begin to do a fresh install of Lock On ... and you should be good to go.... As far as uninstalling DX10 the drivers in the link are DX9c so I think you should be fine ... They DX9c should run anyway.... ~S~ Blaze
  22. Andrew: Not to sound like a d****, but its actually my understanding that the whole team can pitch in with the very tedious coding duties... ~S~ Blaze
  23. This will be for FS2004 as well as FSX.. So it'll work for ya' guy.... ~S~ Blaze
  24. I was talking to a former sailor just the other day... He was actually stationed onboard an aircraft carrier when he was on active duty... So I had told him about my tour with the wing.. Anyway, we got around to discussing Marines pilots... He said that he was on the flight deck crew and when the news got to them about Marine pilots coming on board for carrier qualifications, that everyone in the flight crew would say "look out" and dive for the nearest superstructure.. " So I just had to hit him.." well no I really didn't.. but it was funny the way he told it and we both started laughing ... ~S~ Blaze
  25. Ok I have to add my 2 cents in here... I personally do like MS flight simulator.. I think graphically it did suck until FSX came along... Well it cant really touch FC as far as graphics except in 1 point and that's the clouds.. And I do have one add on for it, the Concorde, this is very detailed and very immersive... So that Rocks... And another thing that I'm waiting patiently to get my well manicured finger nails into  its the FA/18 that should be out in the fall some time... Even though ya' can't actually blow things up, you can load stores, get totally acquainted with the Avionics and you can pickle missiles ... http://www.vrsimulations.com/product_FA18E.htm Theres a download of the FA-18 control panel that's now available now in high resolution that you might find interesting..... ~S~ Blaze
