Yeah.. but it seems like something is in the works... with the new skin. At least I'm hopeing that we'll see more here then just a nice skin to look at.. I'm hopeing for more at least some where down the line... Well maybe we'll actually see a real naval combat simulation take shape.. Its nice to dream sometimes  ~S~ Blaze

Its sounds like the possibility that with all of the patches and drivers you've installed this might just be whats causeing your issues ... I know that sometimes when you unistall drivers data gets corrupted... I hate to tell you this but short of doing a reformatt, (which is what I've been doing for the last few days on more then one system)... Try uninstalling Lock On ... Then go to 3d Guru and install a driver cleaner.. Follow the directions and unistall your recently installed drivers... Now install the most recent Vista drivers for your 8800 Vid card for DX 9c.... After all of thats done you should have a nice clean installation of the most recent Vista drivers in your system ... Do a temporary file clean up next, and after that do a defrag... Now start installing Lock ON with all of the correct patches this time... This will take you a while but I think it should clear up your issues... ~S~ Blaze

I think whats happening here is that were seeing some real progress taking place with finishing touches... Apparently ED has had plans for model upgrades, and it just stands to reason... Our views will be more closely focused on ground combat and choppers are move toward the forefront.. In Flameing Cliffs there are still a lot of models that have those clay like pilots and solders... I can understand why Ed's moving in this direction, it adds a lot to the immersion... I can see from the new screenies that the tress no longer have that transparent artificial look, but have taken on a more life like charterer.. More attention to trees is neede. So now will we still be able to fly through them unscathed, or will there be some damage modeling added... But IMHO, as I've stated in other posts, I think they should also think about rendering tall grasses, small bushes, and in some cases burned and smoking combat areas... And of course there is also a need to make the architecture more interesting... And those sail boats really do look attractive would they actually be in a combat zone?? Anyway these are just my opinions, I really do enjoy and feel that no other virtual world of combat even comes close to this one... And as far as my opinion is concerned its just that, and what I'm mostly interested in is seeing this sequel hit the selves... ~S~ Blaze

Is 6800 SLI or 7600GT good for performance?
VMFA-Blaze replied to linux34's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have an 8800gts, this card alone has more power then anything else in SLI... But my suggestion is to wait and see what comes next from ATI... ~S~ Blaze -
I'm totally with you on that one Iggy.. This forum I feel has allways been a cut above the others in many respects.. I've allways appreciated the maturity and the vast amount of concentrated knowledge that exists here ... And I for one, hope that it will always be like this .. And as long as we don't allow something this good to change .. It will always remain good ... semper fi Blaze

Take a look at this, it could give you some ideas on what you can do to increase your FPS... http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=19634&highlight=setting+affinity ~S~ Blaze

I'm running a similar system myself, not quite as high end as yours but similar.. Well If you expect things to run in double digits at all times I really doubt if there is one as of yet... There's a shader problem with the 8800 series, and you'll have to run it on all planer.. But other then that you can raise up the rest your settings to maximum ... You might also try assigning functions to separate processing core's ... But I found that if the games playable with these settings, that's the main concern... One of the things that I found about this card that I like the most is it's ability to show greater detail, enabling you to be able to visually see aircraft at a greater distance... I mean BVR is fun but a real knife fight when you win is more gratifying... Blaze

Joe: You guy's are starting to get a lot of attention with this concept.. When James Hallows starts posting regarding your proto type you know that your hitting a nerve.... I mean James Hallows is one of the Cougars founding fathers and the creator of the Cougar Foxy software.. He's a real Cougar Guru... So once again thanks for keeping us informed, and I'll continue to observe this with eager anticipation... Oh and PS:you might just find a second hand Cougar for sale at Cougar World.. I know that I've seen them there from time to time ... ~S~

Come on.... you haven't heard that expression ... I think it came from car customizers originally... That's Sick, or that's Cool, it means that its out of the box, or your pushing the envelope... ~S~ Blaze

Vista Upgrade Nightmare
VMFA-Blaze replied to VMFA-Blaze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hitman: Thanks for the advice Bro... I've actually got the XP 64 O/S flyin' finally... You were right I dumped the Promise RAID drivers for VIA 64 bit... The promose 64 are all buggered up .. So I'm downloading the usual software that you need, like printers, digital camera stuff.. The usual.... LOL But I'm not going to put any games on it... There's some issues already as lot of applications don't run on 64Bit .. So that's settled.. It's cool for the next phase, installing Vista 64 and I'm sure its going to be a real bear :megalol: So this will give me a better understanding of what I'll need to do when I feel its time to put Vista on the gaming rig.. I have the Vista upgrade for 32 bit right now and I'm really tempted to install it, but no I'm using a lot of will power and will wait for Vista 64.. And its actually supposed to arrive on My Birthday (no lie)..... So I'm also getting a lot of Sony audio equipment for my home theatre set up... I was trying to get them to also buy an old Jaguar so I could tinker around with it... But the answer was no... I'm going to keep at it though, it might still happen.... :megalol: Heres a shot of it.. It needs a lot of tinkering.... ~S~ Blaze -

Vista Upgrade Nightmare
VMFA-Blaze replied to VMFA-Blaze's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This morning I heard the bell ring, and before I could get there, whoever it was was gone.. Then I looked down and saw a small box.. It was Vista... just one copy and its the Business 32 bit edition not the 64 bit which is actually the one I wanted to try first on My AMD 64 PC... Buy that's alright because I haven't had much success installing XP 64... I cleared out the BIOS by moving the CMNS jumper and even pulled the battery but got the same issue again ... For some reason the raid 64 bit drivers aren't signed off by MS... I keep getting this message about 1/2 way through installation... So after the install completes, the system reboots and loads up the BIOS... The next step should be the black XP screen with the little blue boxes running sequentially across the bottom of the screen... Instead there is a flash of a blue screen, that's called I think a SBDOS ??? The system reboots again, and the the next screen that appears is a request to run in the safe mode or restore windows to the last workable setting.. No matter what I try, it just gets stuck in a loop... I don't really think its a hardware issue but an Asus 64 bit RAID driver issue ... Anyway I'm almost tempted to installing Vista on my gaming rig (LOL) But no I'll just keep at this until its sorted out... I'm going to call Asus in California again tomorrow and see what suggestions they've got .... Hopefully they can give me some compatable drivers... ~S~ Blaze -

Vista Upgrade Nightmare

Hi guy ... So today I started to install XP pro 64 on my AMD 64.. And I'm planning on installing Vista Business 64 on this one as soon as I get the disk.. So now I'm having more issues with the 64 bit raid drivers from Asus's web sight... I called California and spoke with a teck and he sent me and e-mail with an attachment... I copied these to a floppy and preceded with the install.. Windows finally installed XP.. Although towards the end I got a flag stating that it didn't recognise the type of drivers and might cause a problem later.. Well it did after the initial install the system rebooted and after the biosloaded, Windows wouldn't open.. I tried it several times and I even went into the bois, changed some settings to alter the boot sequence, a no go.. went back and loaded the default settings and still no go... So I guess these weren't the right raid drivers and I'm going to have to contact Asus again tomorrow... One ting though and this might be the cause of my problem.. The system will not shut down.. I have to manually turn off the power supply switch.. WTF... nothing is easy... ~S~ Blaze -
I guess you don't have any shimmering bugs do you?? ~S~ Blaze

I'm actually not intimidated by the avionics, I just ha vent put that much time into learning it ... Theres too much going on RL for me..... I do have a hotas and when I do find the time I'm going to set it up...... But what I can see my statement still stands regarding the avionics.. They seem to be more realistic than LO, but I'm in total agreement with you concerning the FM... It just seems to be too unresponsive enough for me.. As far as LO avionics, ED is certainly aware of some of the shortcomings of their avionics... And this was actually brought out by several posts by the development team... But this is No Biggy, they are close in some instances and spot on in others.. And as I mentioned before when we see the new AFM for aircraft and missiles along with clickable cockpits, there wont be another contemporary combat simulator that can touch it.... ~S~ Blaze

Can MSFS models be ported to LO?
VMFA-Blaze replied to Colt40Five's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Yes thats right... All thought I'm still waiting for Alphasim to release the Concorde upgraded addon for FSX... I have it and was flying it in FS9... But I just can't handle the graphics of FS9 anymore.. Everything in that one is too unrealistic... I tried to import Concorde to FSX but it just doesn't work properly.. you can see the externals without issue... But when in the cabin there's no needles, back face graphics or control lights on the instrumentation... Just flight has it listed as a future project but... HEY!!! Its been about 7 months since FSX was released and there's not one drop of news about this.. And for that matter there are a number of sims expected to be released but there's only actually been 2 in the last few years "46 and FSX... You can't really grow the genera properly at this rate.. But that's one of the issues that this hobby is famous for and its something that Virtual Pilots live with on a daily basis... ~S~ Blaze -

Can't you change one of the system's ISP address's so that hyper see's 2 connections? I know that you'll most likely get an conflicting ISP error report...but you'll then be able to LAN on one router ??? ~S~ Blaze -
Oh ok, these are very dark is this a night mission...If it is I don't see your point... It looks about right.. Blaze

The chances of these things being worked out in BS aren't that great.. BS is a AtG Heli sim and developers might not work on fast movers on this one.. These type bugs should be sorted out the next stand alone, at least thats what the developers have said.. ~S~ Blaze

Well guess what... i got an e-mail from MS yesterday informing me that 1 of the Vista business upgrades that I ordered was placed on B/O.. The expected delivery date was noted to be May 17 ... Well,Well thats actually my birthday.. I guess that's par for the course... Now the Vista 64 bit wasn't listed as back ordered so just maybe I'll actually see this one soon ??? Anyway the 64 bit is the one that I'm actually looking for.... Anyway they told me last week that it would take about 3 to 4 weeks for delivery.. This is that worst customer service that I've ever seen...:dunno: ~S~ Blaze -
