Refer to Yurgons post, the others are not entirely correct.. Setting the SPI with the laser prior to the run in will not increase the accuracy of any LGB dropped from a high pass. Even setting it for JDAMs is pointless, because as Yurgons has said the SPI will continuously update, so as soon as you turn the laser off, your SPI will update and you have lost your so called "extra accuracy". The key is to remember: when you are setting a SPI, you are not setting a point on the ground, you are setting the point that your SOI is pointing at. If your SOI moves, so does your SPI. Your SPI is constantly updated. Step 7 is redundant so you can ignore it (unless you are making a mark point)? Once you have the TGP on the target you just need to keep the crosshairs there, line up in CCRP/CCIP, pickle the weapon and turn the laser on at around 8 secs to impact.

I would think HMCS would actually be more beneficial in attack aircraft, that do most of their job WVR of their targets. Cueing your sensors air-air is much simpler than cueing them onto a position on the ground, which is probably why the technology started with attack aircraft. I had a look at the Jaguar one back when they flew and it was pretty damn special. Imagine your 9 line coming with a datalink position that is then translated into a position in your helmet. Conversely being able to look at enemy positions and then transmit them to the men on the ground or you wingmen via datalink.

This Loosening gauges and turning them around like that is something often done in RL. You just loosen the little black screw and the whole gauge rotates in the instrument panel. The reason is that this way all the gauge needles line up in the same direction. The pilot can quickly scan the engine instruments and see everything is OK by the fact the needles are all aligned. It is much more obvious if something is wrong at a glance when one needle doesn't match the others.

This shouldn't make any difference to stabilization? Are you making smooth, gentle turns? Do you make your turns towards the wing with the TGP on it to prevent masking?

Combat the score on the FC3! Need to correct.
Kaiza replied to BJH's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yes, I think he means and immediate score to stop people leaving after they are hit and preventing the other player getting the kill. -
I havent played A-10C for a while, but when I left, yes this was a bug and has been since the first beta. It is a bug with the elevation data which causes the SPI to look like it is moving. It doesn't seem to always appear, just certain areas. EDIT: The work around we used to use was to get your buddy to drop a markpoint on top of the received data. This will correct the elevation and give him a good point. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75765&highlight=Broadcast It has been reported: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89833&highlight=Spi http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1790012#post1790012

lol RWR chirping at you?

Sounds good Dart, it will also allow us to temper the capability to the scenario. If it is a quiet air picture, then I would prefer having to identify friendly targets manually, while in a busy environment, no so much. Thanks

With the A-10C? How do you engage PAC? Personally I wouldn't be buying a HOTAS without a 2 stage, but I there is work abounds I suppose.

What is the indicator below the slip ball? A bank indicator?
Kaiza replied to Poutine's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
It is a rate of turn indicator. 1 needle width deflection = rate one turn which is a heading change of 3 degrees per second (ie a 180 degree turn in 1 min). Two width deflection = rate 2. Mainly used for IFR work or redundancy for the ADI. The angle of bank to achieve a rate one turn changes with airspeed. A rough rule of thumb is your TAS/10 +7 = required AoB. So at 200kts, rate one = roughly 27 degrees AoB. -
Axalp is on my bucket list.

You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when..

LOL. Yep, and then gets frustrated and shoots you down for your 5 second contact before disconnect. -
Its also a factor of having a beta version and a normal version of software. The servers are essentially cut in half at the moment, and you wont be able to see the servers running a different version to you.

I think what makes him say this is that without the selector on VHF you have lost the use of VHF for plain voice, while UHF is always available with mic switch down. Nothing to do with the preference of bands.
-
Roger :) Random fact, in the real A-10C there is also an unplacarded position (full CCW) that enables TACAN to be monitored regardless of tacan monitor switch position. What this is for I have no idea...? Maybe just an easier way to quickly ident the TACAN without having to use the fiddly monitor switch.

HF is a different band (not UHF) and not functional, so it shouldnt work.

I think what Madog has posted here is exactly the case. In a 9 line you are given target elevation from the JTAC that in thr real worls is more than likely going to be more accurate than that of a DTS which contains a worldwide database of various accuracy to 1m res. It appears that the game introduces no 'error' to DTS data, so (from what I have seen at least) it is more than adequate for weapon solution.

How many did you manage to get in prior to crash?

What a legend. EDIT: Mig 21 please!

DCS Visrtual Cockpit for Android (iControl DCS)
Kaiza replied to boarder2's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks, what will the prices be? -
LOL :) Similar to the 'cats pyjamas' the 'bees knees' is for some reason a colloquial term for something that is 'very good' in English. It probably came from rhyming slang :) He was just asking what people thought of it as it sounds really good.

Bee's knees confirmed

You won't see your position on the map until your EGI has aligned, as otherwise the system doesn't know where you are. This does not mean that your DTS upload has not worked though, just that your EGI is still aligning. So you are doing everything right, you just need to wait until your EGI has aligned before you see your TAD. Your DTS upload is fine.
