Hey Guys, I'm trying to find more information about the PVI-800 master mode selector switch specifically in regards to the "Sim" mode. The manual states: I can't seem to get any results from trying to use this mode. Is this an actual functioning mode in the sim? Thanks for any help in advance.. Cheers btw: apologies to Moderators- should have posted this in previous PVI thread

Hey Guys, Was just looking at a youtube vid of the KA50.. At about 20 seconds into it there is some shkval footage of a vikhr spiraling into it's target.. The vikhr appears to spin/spiral a lot more violently in the RL footage, and when it strikes the shkval contrast etc get a little shock.. :D By no means is this a "why hasn't ED implemented blah blah"... Just thought this was interesting :)

Maybe this is what you were after? *edit* forgot to grin.. :D

BeeSting- More info needed, is there something specific about the PVI800 you wanted to know? Your question is a little vague. -
Yes, you don't need modman.. just manually delete and add missions.. all good ;)

I think you answered your own question there.. as previously posted the AI are not inhibited by fog/cloud in DCS..
-
Maybe Igla's now using these: http://www.flir.com/uploadedFiles/ENG_01_FOG.pdf :D
-
I think to truly know how an igla will perform in foggy conditions you need to have more specific technical information on the type of igla used firstly and specific details on is targeting/tracking system. Also, i don't think a manpad operator needs to see the target.. If an operator heard a helo fly over he could point, wait for tone and fire. This could be wrong tho cauz i never used one..:D *edit- just did a quick google- first link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/05/060503100242.htm

Hey, wha, did I hear the words "Norton AV" !!:bomb: :gun_rifle: Norton.. :chair:

Presumptions.

I do not deny the fact there is a heavy workload in the KA50.. and obviously hence the HH function.. ( which is Great! don't get me wrong, i do use HH alot when needed) but when flying from A to B? or through a constant tight winding valley? Not Needed..! Why fly and bank with the trim button held down when u don't need to. Do we all fly around with our altitude hold AP on and press "F" when were at the right altitude??
-
GOOOOOOD LUUUUUCK! :D You'll need it.. :P Need a wingman? :) Seriously tho this is excellent news!!! I didn't think it would happen.. But wait 1 sec... BS with be compatible with the A-10C module and BS soon to be compatible with FC which has an A-10.. Hmm getting a little confused how this will all piece together.. Anyone?

ARM505 sums it up for me... Nice post bro ;) I agree the Heading hold function is different to the pitch/bank dampeners.. i don't recall the pitch/bank dampeners having 20% authority on the FCS. Conventional heli's are ALOT more unstable in yaw axis yet civ pilots have no problems without a "yaw dampener".

process for engaging hind/apache with cannon?
26-J39 replied to dooom's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Your doing every thing fine but i would disable TrackIR.. U wont need to look around as Viper will be doing it for you.. ;) -
It is not bad advise at all.. The heading hold is there if you CHOOSE to use it. Flying without heading hold will definitely teach you to trim the aircraft properly, and there is no need to hold trim etc when banking for turns. Player preference.;)

Just had a look, seems to work ok for me.. :) -
Thats it!! Re-center your default view how you like it and RALT + Num0 to save. :) Just looked into this a bit further. There is no re-center view key for head rotation (L/R, Up/ Down). There is however a re-center key for head shift tho which is RShift & RCrtl + Num5. If you want a spot on centered default view i recommend the following: - Re-center head shift with RShift & RCrtl + Num5. - Now zoom in full and align your screen with the bottom of the HUD as per pic attached. - Save this view when you have the view centered with RAlt + Num0. - Now zoom back out and save again at your desired zoom. I save the default view when i'm zoomed right in so it's perfectly aligned, zoom out with the keyboard as to not disturb the view with my mouse, re-save and should be all gravy. :)

This happens because your rudder is "out of trim" and AP has no more authority to turn all the way to the target. You will find this will happen alot if you always leave heading hold on.. It may seem like your in a well trimmed hover but what u don't realize is heading hold is using a certain amount of its authority to keep you pointing in that direction. If you leave heading hold on and come to a hover you can never really trim the rudder 100% right because you don't know how much yaw authority AP is applying. You need to take heading hold off, come to hover .trim trim etc. Now turn on heading hold and turn to tgt. You should find turn to tgt much more effective. IMO heading hold should really only be on when you've trimmed out in forward flight to keep tracking in that direction (turn on after trimmed for stable flight) or when used in conjunction with turn to tgt etc.

Yes, when engaging A2A with cannon you are better to select moving target(N). AA/AAHO is only for the proximity fusing of the vikhr. -

Found this thread Mark, should help you: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=46158 -
The failures will apply to all players.. You can set the "time to failure" upon entry to the mission ( failure within Hr:min ). Or have the "time to failure" set a certain amount of time after the player has joined ( failure after Hr:min). Or Both.. I did test the failures in MP and yes it only seems to work once unfortunately.
