Digging up old threads. Anybody found a way to increase the tension of the Saitek Pro Combat pedals, either by replacing the springs or some other way? I just got mine and I found the toe brakes way too soft, almost no feedback on the feet when wearing shoes, making it too difficult to apply symmetric pressure. Thanks PeterP for the tutorial on how to remove the detent, I will consider doing it.

Saitek PRO Flight Combat Rudder Pedal Tweaks
Tucano_uy replied to xaoslaad's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just received my Saitek Pro Combat pedals and yes, I've found that the springs for the toe brakes are extremely soft. There's almost no feeling on the feet when pressing them down and therefore I found it very difficult to apply symmetrical pressure on both pedals. My Mustang landings are a bit of a mess now, but I guess I'll need to get used to it. I don't want to disassemble it now that it is brand new, but I guess that eventually I'd like to get harder springs for it. Anybody ever tried that? experiences and advice please. -
If ED adds a "BUY ALL AVAILABLE MODULES" button on the module manager or the main screen, I'm sure many people will succumb to impulse. (possibly including me)

It depends on your experience, time available to dedicate to the hobby, and of course interest. The FC3 module is an easy(er) way to start. A10C is the most complex and detailed module. For the fun of just flying, doing circuits and aerobatics, I would recommend the P51 (but you have the civilian version for free already). If you're a chopperhead, your options are also good, just pick one!! As I was telling a friend the other day, new to DCS, keep in mind that if you're not ready to read a lot, be it manuals, this forums and other sources, you'll be wasting your money. The learning curve is always steep... And you'll need to play around with the mission editor.

[bUG] DCS: T-65 X-Wing Fighter, vapor trails come from between the wings and not the wing tips. Please forward to devs...

At this pace, we will be flying those IRL before DCS:World 2 is released!!!! GIVE US THE DAMN THING NOWWWW!!! (read with tongue in cheek please)

Most probably, IRL, a couple of A-10s would probably be able to do all this automatically, using datalink and displaying the result on the TAD. Speculation of course, but reasonable in my view.

Strangest thing ever happened to me in DCS
Tucano_uy replied to Tucano_uy's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
It's crazy what things that look completely unrelated can do. Bug squashing must be a tough task. -
It would be great to have native Betty like "Me cago en la hostiaaaa!!! Que me cago en la hostiaaaaa!!!" when you have an engine failure.

Strangest thing ever happened to me in DCS

It seems to be rather common now. It happened twice again since my first post. Only difference to what I always did is that now I'm using dynamic weather. -

Hehehee. That would spoil it. -
Well, there I was, getting ready for a quick flight around the field, starting up my Mustang when.... that happened. :noexpression: The track is only 28 seconds. I was the only unit placed in the mission editor. Anybody has an idea of what could have happened? I replayed the same mission and everything was normal. Strange.trk

The idea of the full back stick, is to keep the tail wheel firmly on the ground. Keep in mind that for the control surfaces to be efficient you need airspeed, if the tail wheel leaves the ground with too little airspeed, the rudder will not be efficient and will not have enough authority to counteract the wind, wherever it comes from. It is difficult to explain, it's more of a 'feeling' when taking off, when to transition and lift the tail wheel. If you are running, with stick full back and the aircraft starts 'jumping' or trying to leave the ground, then is time to relax stick, otherwise it will take off, stall and kaboom... Also, use a low flap setting or no flap. In the technique that I'm describing, you actually want to leave the ground at a higher airspeed (remember rudder authority?) than you would with a calm wind.

Please see this: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2221647#post2221647 and this (track with a 50m/s crosswind takeoff): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2221266#post2221266

Left handed stick recomendation please
Tucano_uy replied to imk's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'm also a leftie. The best is to get used to it and use the right hand for the stick. Mouse in left, stick in right hand, I actually see it as an advantage (think of the poor other 90% letting the stick go to use the mouse in the cockpit). I struggled at the begining but muscle memory develops quickly, so no problems nowadays. It also helped a LOT when I started to fly gliders IRL, it felt relatively comfortable since day one. Since trim and airbrake controls are on the left side, you need to fly the approach with the right hand on the stick. I would appreciate a good left handed friendly gaming mouse though... -

Yep, reported before... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=128695 Sadly, no answers.

If it was reported before and known, please accept my apologies. It seems that the wingman's radar is not affected by ECM. You can see this in the track: -No AWACS present. -There's one B52 flying perpendicular to the Su27's path 50 nm ahead. -When I illuminate it with my radar, I get an ECM strobe, and no range to target, as expected. -I then instruct my wingman to turn his radar on, and I turn mine off. -Wingman reports contact with bearing and range, precisely, and the B52 shows on my HDD via datalink. -As I turn my radar back on, I only get the ECM strobe with the bearing line and not range. The track and flight is very short, not more than 3 minutes. Please don't pay attention to my flying and do to what happens in the HUD and HDD. BVR ECM.trk

Su-27 not showing when selecting CAS flight on version 1.2.11.33921

The key is: KEEP THE TAIL WHEEL ON THE GROUND and the STICK FULL BACKWARDS up until about 100mph.. If you try to raise the tail before, when you have not enough rudder and aileron authority, it's going to hurt. 50m/s take off http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2221266&postcount=5

Crosswind takeoff, wings roll into the wind
Tucano_uy replied to BudgieSmuggler's topic in Bugs and Problems
50 m/s crosswind take off from the apron (as taxiing was impossible). Just for fun. Crosswind.trk -
Bump... . . . . . . . . . . . Sorry..
