  1. I've been flying for about 6 months or so, started off with the Tomcat and Viper, but last week decided to give the WWII stuff a try. I love it. The P-51 is amazing. I love flying her. I'm knee deep into the blue nosed bastards campaign at the moment and I'm just loving every second of it. I'm looking for other people to fly those kind of missions with. I can only imagine how fun it would be to fly protection on a group of bombers with actual people. I'm a truck driver for UPS so my schedule is all over the place, especially now with the pandemic going on. Only time I can guarentee to be available is Saturday evening and Sunday. So, if you have room for me, let me know. I'm based in Ohio, fly in VR, and would love to join a squadron. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. VR is incredible. Playing on a screen, no matter how pretty, just doesn't cut it. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. 1. Get an SSD. Any will do. 2. Don't download from peers, do the http download. When the download starts, hit cancel it'll ask you to do http instead. In my case, it goes 3x faster. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  4. Which set do you like better? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. Is that so? [emoji1787] I've been holding down the trigger till I heard the thump from release. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. He does that automatically. If you have your radar screen on in the pilot's seat, (bottom screen) you can see enemy planes on the scope. They'll have numbers next to them. 2-1, 2-2, etc. The second number is the firing order. Every time you launch a missile, it automatically targets the next one. Just have to wait till they're in range, and fire. When you fire, the numbers change into a countdown. That's the time till impact. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. Yeah, I figured, but I couldn't remember where it was in the middle of a dogfight [emoji38] I understand where you're coming from with the lighting changes. No sense in doing it now so it needs to be redone in a couple months. I just hate seeing her like this. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. Make sure the missiles are prepped, HUD is in A/A mode, Master Arm is on, and you have to hold down the trigger for 3 seconds. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  9. Was doing a mission on the campaign, lots of enemy fighters in the air in front of me judging by the RWR, AWACS, and Jester calling them out. But, none of them were on the radar scope. Just friendlies, steerpoints, but no enemies. Couldn't fire a single phoenix until I was in range to do PAL. At which time i had multiple planes firing multiple missiles at me. And, even though they were dead ahead in the center of my HUD, lock kept dropping. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. Tomcat. She's beautiful, fast, agile, sexy, an icon. The (super) Hornet is ugly, slow, useless, and shouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Cheney and his crooked BS. There's a reason the Viper was chosen over it by the Air Force. Let's hope one day the Navy revisits the Super Tomcat program and brings her back. A carrier full of F-35C and F(ST)-21 would be a sight to behold. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. I don't understand why there's so much complaining. "SC isn't being released because it's not ready" That's all we need to know. Sometimes you bake a turkey for Thanksgiving, and when you pull it out the oven, you see it needs another half hour or so. So stick the carrier back in the oven, in the meantime we'll be at the table picking at the Viper rolls [emoji57] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  12. I'm just happy the Viper is getting Mavericks [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. Yup, and I'm hoping that's what it is. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. I haven't seen it mentioned yet, but I always land her with full air brakes deployed, just like the Tomcat. I "put the thing on the thing" and just glide her in, adding a bit of power to shallow the glide path near the runway. Then I'll flare to get the "thing" in the E bracket, and she sets down smooth as can be. Throttle to idle, then full stick aft to use the elevators as air brakes while keeping her straight with left and right wheel brake input as needed until she's slowed down to NWS speed. Retract brakes, release stick, open canopy, and taxi to the pad. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. I've been doing the cold start version of the campaign, just did the TARPS flight mission, solo (thanks wingman) and had a great flight. I reloaded for mk60 Phoenix's and took off. Practiced a bit of formation flying with the TARPS Tomcat, then veered off towards WP1 when we hit feet dry. Got the weapons ready to go, told Jester to bring it, or he's walking home, and cruised till the bandits arrived. Shot down 5 enemy planes, 2 with a Phoenix, 1 with a Sidewinder, and 2 with guns. Both Sparrows missed their target, as did 2 Phoenix's and a Sidewinder. MiG-23 gave me a great fight when I was down to just guns, but the following MiG-25 was much easier to shoot. All that turnin' and burnin' left me low on fuel, so we made a comfortable landing at Kutaisi and called it a day. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  16. You're saying ED made the Tomcat cockpit? What did Heatblur do then? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. I was referring to the visuals. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  18. So I felt like taking the Tomcat out today, haven't flown her much after the 2.5.6 lighting update, she just doesn't look nearly as good as she did before and the VR performance is just awful now.... Anyway, I restarted the campaign a while ago and I loaded up the next mission. Starting cold, I go through the procedures (so I thought, keep this in mind) and got up in the air. I get to my CAP zone and start patrolling when all of a sudden I start seeing double! My HUD started to slightly separate. I had 2 of everything slightly overlapping. I'm thinking I overstressed the bird and the HUD is out of whack. So I continue on and around the edges I see color fading. "GODDAMMIT I need to clean my headset!" Or so I thought. So I take my headset off, wipe the lenses, everything back on, nope still there. So I keep flying, launch a few Phoenix's at a 4 ship, and the discoloration turns into grey and starts creeping towards the center of my view. "WTF" goes through my head as I get jumped by 2 Fishbeds... "What am I missing" as I'm trying to get SA in 1950's black and white... "Oxygen!" (Remember I talked about procedures earlier) I never set the oxygen switch! "Where was it! ....!" I look at all the panels, meanwhile Jester is calling out MiG positions and I'm jinking and turning while I'm trying to remember the damn oxygen switch location... "F#$k it!" I think to myself. "I'll get oxygen in here REAL quick!" And I blow the canopy off. I take the fight to the deck, and everything starts coming back. My vision, color, sharpness, back to 100% "Alright bastards, eat Sidewinder!" as I fire my last one at the first bandit I can get in my sights, luckily it hits, and it's just 1v1 now with MiG 2. Couple turns later, he's eating lead and on a one way trip back to Mother Earth. Then, a nice 80 or so mile trip back to the boat in my Tomcat Spyder at low altitude, I hit the #3 wire, Jester wishing Meg Ryan saw it, and I'm sitting smiling in my flight chair. Well Done Heatblur, Well F#$king Done! I loved that me forgetting to turn oxygen on actually made such a huge difference. Oh and P.S. please fix my baby. I hate seeing her like this in this crap patch. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. Absolutely love the Flanker family. Gorgeous planes. Hope one day they make it to DCS in full fidelity. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. I drop them as soon as they're empty. In the Viper I set my fuel knob to whichever tanks I'm draining from, usually I just carry the center tank, and jettison it as soon as it's dry. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  21. Ok thank you very much. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  22. Thank you. So if I lower the resolution of the monitor, that will affect my VR resolution too? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  23. When you fly in VR, you project on 3 monitors, your actual monitor, left eye, and right eye. Now, do the graphic settings impact the "eye" monitors? I have everything set for 1440p but can I turn that way down to improve my VR performance without VR looking worse? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  24. Did he even take off? Mine was still on the cat when I got back to land lol. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  25. I would love to see this plane implemented. It has an enormous arsenal and can carry a lot of it at supersonic speeds. Not to mention it's absolutely stunning. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
