  1. Managed to get a kill on the F-16, been training every day so far. Getting better. I'm actively using the rudder to help control the plane and it's making a huge difference. The SU-27 I downed on the second try. I wish we either had airspeed on the HUD or Jester calling out speeds. Sometimes I'll be chasing and I'll bleed too much energy and she'll drop her nose in an instant. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. Cold start, so much fun in VR. Then, while the INS is aligning, we'll pretend we're in the RAF and step out of the cockpit for a "spot of tea" or coffee [emoji2957] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. The Phantom would be a day 1 purchase for me. But I'd want to see multiple variants. Navy and Air Force. Would like the flexibility of doing Vietnam era bombing as well as Iraq era Wild Weasel missions. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks everyone! I've been watching some spudknocker videos and I think I'm being too rough on the controls. And I need to get better on the rudder pedals. I appreciate all your inputs. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. I'm still fairly new to DCS and sim flight in general. I fly in VR with the Rift S if that matters, but in a turn fight I keep losing the plane. I'll be on a bandit, or trying to turn inside it, mainly in the instant action F-16 guns only mission, and at some point I just lose too much energy. I like the challenge, but I could use help. 6. Tomcat hands down. First, because it's a sheer joy to fly. In VR, you feel the plane. You're in it. You forget you're sitting in a seat behind a desk. You feel the shakes, the shimmies, the airframe protesting as you pull too hard on the stick. And that's just flying around. Then, there's the dogfighting. Very, very hard in close combat, but so satisfying if you get it right. Then there's the cockpit interaction. It's an old plane, so you're spending a lot of time heads down throwing switches, turning dials, looking at gauges, constantly trimming, and so on. She's a very capable bomber. The campaign is fun. The F-16 is a great module too, I fly her often, but, she's not nearly as satisfying to operate because of her limited attack capabilities at the moment, and she's a lot more modern, making her a lot easier to fly. The Tomcat is a Ferrari F-40. Crazy fast, manual gearbox, no ABS, No traction control, and stunning to look at. The F-16 is a McLaren 720S. Sleek lines, flappy paddle gearbox, all the nannies, but less thrilling to drive. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. I'd rather throw rocks from the Viper than fly that ugly POS lol. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  8. When is the Viper supposed to get A2G missiles like the Maverick? Side question, what do you like to use to attack SAM sites with currently in the Viper's arsenal? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  9. The Matrix [emoji849] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. When you load a mission where the plane is "preloaded" with a targeting pod, TGP is a function in the right MFD you can cycle through with TMS right. When you rearm a naked plane and add the pod, the option doesn't become available after warmup. You have to go through the sub menu's in the left MFD to use it. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. That's why I use multiple bombs. I either drop a pair on a single target, or drop multiple in ripple. They're unguided so the computer can only give you a best "estimate" of where they'll land. It's not a guarentee they'll land exactly on that spot. If it has to absolutely die in 1 hit, load up on GBU's and lase them in. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  12. I'm hoping revert to previous performance. VR performance in 2.5.6 is a lot worse than it was in 2.5.5 Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. Can't go lower than 1 [emoji2369] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. If you have the hardware to support 4k, I would play in 1440 and max everything out. See what your frame rates are and dial back less important stuff if needed. Depending on how close you are to your screen, your eyes can't tell the difference between 1440 and 4k anyway. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. I'm from Amsterdam. Half the city is red at night lol. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  16. Restore lighting to 2.5.5, keep the other updates. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. Not your fault. Just sucks having to fly her in this ugly state. So annoying. The amount of glow ED has given everything is ridiculous. If it was at 1 before, and 10 now, a 5 would be perfect. Right now it looks like every light is powered by it's own nuclear reactor. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  18. All FPS is ****ed in VR even with the new option off. Before I could happily fly with mirrors on, now it's stuttering more than Jimmy from South Park [emoji849] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. Try turning on a flood light. It's like walking into an Amsterdam Whorehouse Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. No mods, non steam version, set Gamma to 1. Best I can describe it is there's way too much glow coming off the lights. I fly with a Rift S. The lighting is too intense. The front windscreen of the Tomcat for example, is just green. Can barely see through it, or see the pitch ladder. The red interior lighting is like somebody exploded a can of red paint all over the cockpit. The outside lighting too. Runway, taxi, city lights, all way too bright. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  21. The cockpit lighting is absolutely dreadful. It is way too much. Did you guys test this in VR? Go fly the Tomcat and have a look. It's horrible! The runway and city lights are way too much. It needs to be toned down A LOT. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  22. Where do I find that? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  23. My Tomcat looks like an Amsterdam Whorehouse! Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  24. Was on the Grim Reaper training server, during the "autumn" high wind etc, training. The Tomcat would spawn on the port side of the ship rather than by the Island. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  25. Well, Jester ejected 8 times in a row while trying to start up the plane on a pitching deck in rough seas [emoji2369] by the time I got ground power and air attached, he was gone [emoji23] Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
