  1. What about your loading times, i have to wait longer to get into a mission, but the framerate drop is very little if i have tgp and maverick displays shown on mfcds. That's very good.
  2. That's true, i played janes WWII fighters on a keyboard, loved it and got my first hotas set, TMs afterburner II. Been into it ever since :) I still use the throttle unit, despite being 11 (i think) years old. But a helicopter game? I hope it doesn't take away too much dev time...
  3. What kind of a person plays a HELICOPTER game with a keyboard?? Emo? Cos that's like "parking your car in certain neighborhoods in the Bronx... you just don't do it."
  4. It says here http://www.defenseprocurementnews.com/2010/07/22/u-s-air-force-awards-raytheon-12-6-million-helmet-mounted-integrated-targeting-contract/ That the "world's first full-color, high-resolution, helmet-mounted system for designating targets and steering sensors and weapons" will be fitted to "Air Force and Air National Guard A-10C and F-16C Block 30/32 aircraft." Is this stuff classified or can we expect it in the future?
  5. No chance on Earth, they'd rip DCS and start making their own cheap versions of it. :megalol:
  6. Since this thread is getting more attention, i'll post it here: Tacview detects only those units marked by a label. I was running weapons training mission and destroyed some unlabeled units and the tacview didn't detect a hit. Is this DCS issue or tacview?
  7. No problem and if anyone doesn't know, the data is in kilometers, with added nautical miles for range and feet for ceiling.
  8. Noted and fixed  Here's the latest version, with added side views, for easier recognition https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxDe_g4a9D3PWHQ4Z2JGZ1lVTG8
  9. Lase it and your wingman can then use his tgp's LSS mode to track the laser. Buddy lasing, I think that's the fastest way.
  10. So what's the recommended "on" time?
  11. Yeah, it's best to use bombs or mavs on them, cos if you can take out one, there can still be another one shooting at you. And they are quite powerful, you need to get quite a lot of hits on one to destroy it. But that seems realistic, they are almost like tanks.
  12. I've run weapons training mission many times, it's great for any kind of bombing; laser guided, multiple JDAM or maverick releases(more of an advanced technique, but very cool when done right), ripple bombing, gun runs,... It's not hard, you just need playtime and a manual. I enjoy learning, the hard part is putting it all together in a fast generated mission.
  13. Wouldn't be wiser to get away to a safe distance and find the target in relative peace with tgp, than making rush moves in the engagement envelope of aaa?
  14. In the manual, it says the laser will fire when the LGB is released and will turn off 4 sec after impact, in CONTINUOUS mode. But all i have is latch or auto lase option, with pre-determined lase time. Where do i set this CONTINUOUS automatic lase mode?
  15. If you're not confident with the plane, leave the attack part out. You can have plenty of fun with navigation, cdu, tad, tacan and ils systems. Once you know about markpoints and custom flightplans, it makes the attack much easier.
  16. The only proper space sim is orbiter 2010 http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/home.php
  17. So it's cheaper to buy one large widescreen and put bezels on the edges, than two small screens?
  18. Someone should leak the FSX source code, so the community can finish what M$ didn't. VRS is just for flying around, you don't have specific military missions and targets and not every system(TGP) is implemented. DCS has it all, but lacks theatres of operations. Serious issue, compared to the whole world in FSX. Hi def FSX aircraft serve as a training platform for systems, start up, basic flight and navigation, so when you get into DCS plane, you're almost combat-ready.
  19. Guitar trance
  20. Great thing about markpoints, they are already SPI if you are in markpoint mode, so you can quickly toggle between them when attacking. "make SPI" is not necessary. That speeds up maverick deployment on multiple targets, for example. Switch markpoint, slave, track, shoot. EDIT: IMO, more people would read the manual, if it was in printed format, so you could read it while you play. Not everybody owns an Ipad or a secondary laptop. And it should be noted more often to read the manual section before going into training missions. PDF is for quick references, but for deep study, you need a printed book.
  21. Set y_trans to -0.01 (from -0.02)
  22. You forgot another 2000$ for the equipment to run it on. The prices then become equal.
  23. Good settings, i also use 0.27 on the x axis, sweet spot
  24. Clip about SEAD missions and why the F16 is the best for the job.
