Top Three Performance enhancements?
bflagg replied to bojote's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
yup.. mine drops to 10-15 tho... (Depending on the size of the city and how many objects it must render) On my site, hawgs water and sky fps fix is available... I'm not sure but I think there is a uptodate version on lomacfiles.com site. I just re-read your orgininal post. Install Loman (v4b3 or 5), Click on Graphics manager Click on Profiles Select p4 w/1gig Using the sliders low haze to basic water to medium DISABLE exchaust checkbox Click apply. Your FPS should be acceptable now.... TIP. When you install loman, go to it's profiles directory and edit the p4 w1gig profile file. In there you will see bas, muyen, haut, rename then to low, medium and high. If you can deal with seeing bas, muyen, and haut in lockon's graphic setting then ingnore this tip. -

How about our new hyperlobby players?
bflagg replied to Battle_Rattle's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I will say for the record, GOYA has helped me quite a bit and even offered to go beyond pure netiquette.. (which I haven't had to a chance to take him up on..). If fact most of the S77th was helpfull (and I'm an old time flight sim fan..) -

This simple question has been hashed out in the past and I've learned that all the "exaggerated fans" of the game will jump on you like a free (and new) hooker. my experience... leave it alone. This question will get you nowhere. -
Glad to hear it went fine for you (and probably will for 99% of the people). Maybe it's the way BuzzU requested it and came off a bit snippy and ........ ?? either way... BuzzU did you politely re-request a key since this thread started? anyway... this thread is done for me... peace / love / war dudes.

To me the whole activation thing should be a simple point... Hardware key is submitted before a serial number is generated. Hardware key is compared against the prior one on record. If they match, generate the serial number. If they don't match and a certain time frame has passed then allow.. of course a few logical "if thens" would go here... if not... a call to ED/Starfarce would be required to verify the hardware key... Is this foolproof? No. But guess what, it keeps your honest people honest (after all that's all DRM does) and they can install to their single PC to their hearts content. They've made this harder than it should be... ...And for those who say.. "this version of starforce has never been cracked "... let me tell you now and here... a pirate or cracker, if the need is great enough, will get around this starfarce system. LockON is not in the public eye as such to get the attention for those who can crack it to get(gain?) their notoriety.
-
Unlimited installs or not... it the price of doing business. Yes. Stop gaps should be imployed to limit piracy(it will happen) , but at the same time they have to allow their customers to install their purchased software on their own machine reguardless of time frame or hardware differences. If this gent was giving out the key or installing on his friends machines and using a activation code, it could be tracked, because there will be too many hardwareID keys being submitted at time of activation and logged on the starfarce server (or should be) I waited for the CD just for this situation...and it payed off. In the last 3 months, my machine has been crashing, doing weird things, and I've reinstalled more times than I can count. (troubleshooting a ATI MMC driver issue). I even upgraded a bit .. P4 3.2e, SoundCard change, 1.5 gig mem, Raptor HD.. Under the current activation scheme that ed/starforce provides for downloadable software, I would have been succinctly screwed. anyway, someone's at my door complaining that they can't print so I gotta go show them the wonderfull usefullness of the power button... TTL.

GGTharos.. c'mon... stop being so "Pro ED" no matter the subject.. If this guy is legit and starforce / ED can tell by the hardware key being submitted... then ED MUST give this gent more activations. No where in the install license agreement does it say, "you can only install this software "X" amount of times". ( i remember Wags(?) posting ED will reissue activations as necessary when the starface issue first came up) Look.. I appreciate and respect your POV on many things you post, and may or may not agree with them, but you always seem to take the pro ED side no matter what the issue is...

New movie: Black Sea Operations Teaser trailer

nice teaser... (sure you not a 15 year old girl?) :) -
I've been having PC problems for the last few months, and am getting tired of reinstalling lockon...(from CD), amongst other games... Can I backup a reg key and merge it back so I don't have to go thru that reinstall routine? (I install all my games to a different drive/partition than my c: )

souless will be missed. He purchased a product and has a right to post what's on his mind. Did you all forget the advertising on the box and what the product really contained? ...and the consumer just got a "Oh well" from ED, or no response at all. I like the game and I keep it in that perspective, but despite what "facts" I read here, this is NOT a simulator and it shows. But I will not quit, it is a fun game. S77th.. in about a week or so.. I should be back on.. my vid card is being sent out for exchange.....and has been giving me major problems for about 2 months. -
I can see it now.... "why are we the beta testers for ED?.. blah blah blah..." it's happened before, and that situation was totally misinterpeted by the LockON community... it was a real cluster ****.

Yeah..I know what you mean... it's to the point that when ever he comes online, I just crash it into the ground and get it over with.... ;)

s77th goya, offered to help me, but due to family, work and PC problems, I couldn't take him up on his offer back then.... I've been playing lockon since it first came out....the thing is I know what it is I'm trying to do, but online, it always appears that the opponent can do it sooner, or always magically avoids my incomming no matter the distance, then do "it" to me. I've heard everything from aspect angles, closure rates, missle type and radar type selected...whatever...and it always seems I can't get it to work. it's quite frustrating....but what the hell, I'm still young....
-
There are folks here who hand my hat to me most of the time... landing is easy, doing missle avoidance...BFM... radar employements... and tactics, that's a bitch....
-
well...now that you bumped it... how are you doing now? Did the track files help you?

Just keep in mind the bad weather track may really tax your machine my specs are in my sig
-
you have either a stuck key...or your saitek profile has a alt.....enabled...(rotoraries , aux swtich...ext.)
-
Here is the Track Files . Landing in Good weather... Landing in bad... ( I chase the ILS a bit near the end....) I ride a little low and slide into the glide path... usually 1000 ft for 2nm out... It took a bit to reconfig my machine... (when I added rain for bad weather, I would get graphic loss, so I had to remove rain...)

yes.. never believe you eyes.. watch your instruments... I have to reinstall Lomac (been having PC problems of late..).. but if your stalling using full flaps, gear down, and brake on.. you can power thru the stall by applying a bit of power from the engines...(not too much or you'll gain alt...).. One of the first things I learned from Janes F15 some 200 years ago.. is once your flight profile is set, (ie...lined up..flaps, etc..), you control your flight profile, just by moving the throttle up or down (slightly/gently). You really don't need to use the joystick, if anything, just a little for small corrections. It takes a bit of practice... thanks crustry for the typo catch...700's/sec ...man that is fast! a good training mission is to set up a mission with the weather is all buggered up, fog so thick, you'll think your at lakenheath (U.K.) and you can't see doo doo outside. NOW fly your jet , using instruments alone.... you will crash alot, especially since the ILS is a bit off from HUD to instruments below, but by then you should be able to visually acquire the runway (<= .5 nm) My understanding in real life, this not attempted to land in these conditions and the flight is diverted elsewhere. But this is good practice nontheless. The point to this little setup is to make it easier to setup / lineup under good conditions. Next thing you know , it's nearly second nature.

switch to ILS mode. 15nm be about 2k alt. slow to 250. 10nm flaps (shift F) and Gear (g) down Power up a bit to keep ils cross centered. (gently push it up) use your air brake (b) only when you need to slow/drop and detract it once your on path.... you should be dropping alt and speed - gently -. touch down should be at approx 150knts (don't forget to gentlu pull your nose up just before you land. - flare - ) once your on ground solid... press the wheel brakes (k ) - once you stop , detract flaps (ctl f) Notice in the pic: Speed = 165 (note engine setting) AoA = 4deg Rate of decent 700 ft/sec flight path marker is right on edge of runway. My ILS on hud is almost lined up. (the instrument below is obviously off) I'm also a little below flight path in this shot another examplehere : and here
