Ok now I know what the problem is. You have GUV800 pods mounted on the MID pylons. However, in your screenshots you have the GUV Payload Selector switch (the switch under the grey cap to the right of the GUV Fire Selector Switch) set to 624/622+800. This makes the weapon system expect machinegun pods to be mounted on the mid rails, which you dont have. Setting the GUV Payload Selector switch to 800 will indicate grenade pods loaded on the mid pylons and you will be able to fire. On a side note: There are only certain combinations of weapons allowed on the Mi-8. These are listed on page 181 of the manual. The rearm menu however lets you choose whatever you want on any pylon. This can lead to incompatibilities with the weapon system. Setting the GUV Payload Selector switch to 800 means you are carrying pure grenade pods (mid and outter pylon), while setting it to 624/622+800 (which is the default setting)means you are carrying MG pods on the mid pylons and GL pods on the outter pylons. The other way around (GL mid pylon and MG outter pylon) will not work because the weapon system can only handle the former configuration. Generally, if something doesnt fire with master arm on its likely due to wrong stuff on the wrong pylons.

a screenshot of ur armament panel (both the Captains and Co-pilots) would really help

Ive been flying the aerosoft f-14 for a while. Its a decent rendition and the compressor stalls are actually not THAT bad. You have to keep an eye on AoA and engine RPM. And keep in mind that the aerosoft f-14 models the engine stall in a rather simple way i.e. the engine suddenly flames out, while a real engine would give you some signs of a compressor stall building up, which means you should get some time to react.

ah now I understand. The five positions mean the trim switch (which is like a POV hat on a joystick) has 5 positions: neutral, Left wing down, Right wing down, nose up, nose down. It does NOT mean there are 5 distinct trim positions, just four directions (plus the neutral position) to move the trim switch to to trim the respective control surface (pitch or roll) And the autotrim feature works only in the trans/supersonic range to account for shockwave induced neutral point shift. In the subsonic range, you need to trim manually to keep level flight (like in the a-10 for example)

Heres a short track from the TAW public test server. View options were externel views: yes options view: my a/c Padlock: no ejection_bug_MP.trk

Trimming is provided by a trim actuator which itself consists of two electric trim drives. The first one is used for manual (without stages thou, dont know where you got that info) trimming and auto-trimming, which only works in conjunction with the autopilot. The second one is used for mach trim compensation in the transsonic and supersonic speed range and is continously active regardless of AP state. Therefore, you will not need to re-trim your aircraft when going supersonic, however you will have to re-trim e.g. for gear and flaps configuration changes. The auto-trim feature you mentioned is only a part of the autopilot and therefore works only when the autopilot is engaged. That all goes for the A model, dunno if the D had a more sophisticated FBW-like control system

I hade the same Issue in the F-15 in both 1.2.6 and 1.5 IIRC it only happened on servers with views off or f2 limited to ownship only
-
"wing rock" does not mean wings or stores shaking or vibrating under high g. Its an aerodynamical effect causing aircraft to roll and yaw uncontrollably at low speed/high aoa

thanks man that did it! never knew u could tweak DCS graphics with config files

Not sure if this a bug as I use modded terrain textures from here :https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/de/files/451532/ However, the ground textures appear way more blurry in 1.5 than in 1.2 (see attachment). Changing settings does not help, even with everything on ulltra and 16x Anisotropic Filtering. Maybe 1.5 cant handle the "old" mod textures? I am runnings Win7 and GTX650m driver version 340.52

Russian missiles - usage, bug, problems, advantages

I know ppl are not satisfied with flare and chaff effectivity, but saying they are "decorative" is wrong. Especially flares do a good job at defeating ET´s at medium range (even in 1.5). -

just to add (from the rw manual): "Best glide speed at 30000lbs: 140KIAS add (or substract) 2kts/1000lbs above (or below) 30000lbs"

- CDU->NAV->ATTRIB, when in Flightplan mode, it will read "Dial HSI to XXX.X" this is the course from your previous WP to your current. - For the yellow FD bars to appear, you have to switch them on with the switch below the HSI

actually troop pick-up and drop functionality has already been implemented within the mission editor (no scripts needed, just set up waypoint actions and use radio menu). However, a few updates ago this feature was removed and has not been reintroduced since. I image ED will put that back in place once edge is out though

2./3. The AP has very limited authority over the collective, AFAIK it does not move the collective handle itself but uses servo motors somewhere down the control line to adjust pitch. It does hold altitude but ONLY with ALT HOLD on. The RA/Baro switch determines which data the AP uses to maintain altitude, however with ALT HOLD off it will have no effect. Remember that the Shark has no terrain following radar like f-16 or tornado. Even small changes in terrain can exceed the AP authority to hold altitude and you will end up in the ground. So when flying very low, you should always maintain altitude by hand. The ALT HOlD function is rather to be used in cruise flight or over flat terrain.

Real world USAF readiness testing via DCS
sLYFa replied to DaveRindner's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
While there is no App/programm I know of that does these calculations, you can calculate much of the above using the performance tables from the real A-10 manual available on numerous avia-doc sites. It may be quite tedious doing it all by hand but the charts are pretty straightforward and examples/explanations are given within the manual itself. -
AFAIK interaction with the INS was done using the so called Computer Adress Panel on the RIO´s left console, probably somewhat similar to the Ka-50 PVI Keyboard

been looking for that for months, many thanks!

Flight dynamics description on product page
sLYFa replied to Bucic's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I doubt that DCS models areoelastic effects on a physical level, especially since most DCS AC have short stiff wings. DCS Helicopters however could/should have that modelled. The "damping" probably referers to a roll damping effect(i.e. any roll rate will result in a force opposite to the roll direction) which naturally occurs for all AC designed to be aerodynamically stable. -
FYI, all soviet/russian built jet aircraft, military or civil, show engine rpm in percent, i. e. relative to a theoretical maximum value FOR THAT compressor stage. Therefore, a higher rpm reading for n1 does not necessarily mean a higher total rpm for n1 compared to n2. In fact, n2 has always a higher total rpm value than n1 for most engines.

Over at the russian forums the devs said there are some issues with the electrical system which cause this behaviour among some other things. Fixes are in the works however.

everything with DCS in its name doesnt require the old lomac, only the DCS World base package.

@BST: When can we expect the Mi-8 manual to be available?
sLYFa replied to Flagrum's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
What exactly are you missing in the DCS Mi-8 that would require an update? All the important systems missing in the first beta release have been added (ADF, Bombs, etc.), as well as all major bugs have been fixed so I do not see any need for "updates". Now I can already hear people complaining about missing cockpit flood lights and the fans not working. But these are neither necessary for proper operation nor spoil the fun in any way IMHO. I dare anyone on this forum to show me ANY other non Belsimtek simulated helicopter on ANY platform to come even close to the Mi-8 we have in DCS. I dont know about the Huey but the Mi-8 has been constantly recieving updates since the first beta release and is now in a rock solid state of a finished product, hence no need for updates. Although some nice features are always welcome, the Mi-8 in its current state is far more than anybody could wish and/or demand for for below 50$. I can however understand the frustration about the lack of an english manual/cockpit. But the again you are not completely left in the dark if you use this forum and the many tutorial videos.
