  1. Lets make that wall of text a bit more readable; Like the idea, but not sure how practical it is.
  2. Cool, how about this one though? Bit more in the spirit of these forums;
  3. Well, you got our attention......, and if it's here in the forum. One way or another ED WILL know about you. Still, that doesn't give you automaticly a 3th party DEV status. Good luck on that, looking forward to the release. (will the severe vibrations in the Dutch variants be modelled? limiting flight time to 1hr consecutively due to crew fatigue?)
  4. Try a repair instead, installer checks all files and replaces any broken ones. Much faster then a full re-install. Go to the following folder;.......VVVV Beta in your case \Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\bin Hold shift and rightclick in the folder, select the "open command window here" option from the dropdown menu. Then, in the CMD window that pops up type the following; dcs_updater.exe repair Should fix any broken files. It may also stop certain mods from working if they modify game files. Just re-install the mods if that's the case.
  5. Voted yes, tough i think CA should recieve some more love first. (LOS issue's in AI vs Player combat)
  6. Understand it all now Esac-Mirmidon, and as AlphaOneSix stated. Good question on why the KA-50 is so different from, lets say the MI-8. And I'm whit him in thinking that ED got this particular thing wrong in the simulation. Though, i also hope you understand now why I was so stubborn in saying i didn't see anything special in the video regarding AP and trimming. Its because i compare it to what i know from real helicopters, and not from what i know about the KA-50 ingame.
  7. How about everyone first starts calling things how there called and by what they mean? AFCS stands for Automatic Flight Control System, and is made up out of several systems working together. Auto Pilot Stabilization Augmentation System Trim System Flight Director and more. Also, AFCS NEVER has authority over pilots inputs. It can be used as an aid to fly hands off controls though. However, the pilot ALWAYS has full authority over the flight controls. At least in any helicopter that is designed in a sane way. "So again, with AFCS on the authority over pilot´s inputs in real life are really so small, the amount of effort over the cyclic so little to be able to fly so clean and precisely OVER the AFCS control almost without trimming?" Depends on what part of the AFCS. SAS, yeah no problem, FD well that only provide visual cues to follow a pre progammed flightplan, Auto-pilot Route follow mode, not quite you would need to use "brute force" to override it if not using the trimmer. To some other posters, you might actually wanna read what the discussion is about. Its not what is better or how should i trim. It's debating about how the pilot in the video is likely flying his KA-50. SAS on FD off Auto-pilot off Trim system not sure, some helicopters have buttons/switches to decouple the trim motors. Do not confuse those whit the SAS buttons in the KA-50 on the RH console though, completely different. ________________________________________________________________ See attached picture. SAS actuators provide stability augmentation and work in parallel to the flight controls, have very limit authority. (5% orso). They provide quick, small precise corrections to the inputs in the flight control system from either the autopilot or the pilot. They are controlled by the Attitiude Heading Reference System. (gyro's basicly) Trim motors, are controlled by either the autopilot or the pilot trough the trim system. They are responsible for holding the controls in place if the pilot is trimming. The auto pilot uses them to fly the chosen auto-pilot mode, during which you will actually see the flight controls moving in the cockpit. (does not happen whit SAS actuators) The trim motors can control the full 100% of flight control deflection, and as a fail safe can be overridden by brute force. normally there decoupled by a clutch when you press the trim button, and couple again when you release it, holding the stick in the position you had it when you released the trim button.
  8. there is no problem, there is a discussion on whether you could perform the manoeuvres shown in the video whit FD mode off and dampening on, without using the trimmer button. I'd say you can.
  9. No, the pilot can override the AFCS at any time by "brute force". And no that does not mean you have to be an olympic weightlifter to be able to do that. Also, whatever amount of control authority the AFCS has, it does not change anything I stated in my previous post. Besides, if the AFCS is on, or better said, the autopilot. The pilot should not be giving inputs. If the autopilot is off, and FD is off aswell then the pilot should steer using trimmer, but can override the trimmer by force as well. (it's a fail safe feature) (autopilot would be things like, auto-hover, heading hold, route follow, etc)
  10. They don't, it just feels that way; In sim do the following; Start up the KA-50 on the ramp using autostart. (just to make sure dampening is enabled and FD is off) Bring up controls indicator whit Rctrl + Enter Give full right deflection and check on control indicator you reach the end of the box Now give 50% of left roll, trim it there and release your joystick. Controls indicator will (and should) still indicate whatever amount of left roll you trimmed. (50%) Now, whitout trimming input full right roll on your joystick again, you will notice the ingame controls go full right minus the amount of left stick you trimmed. (50%) This effect is what gives people the feeling there fighting the autopilot, not the way the autopilot, trim and dampening systems actually works and are modelled. Note, the above does not apply to FFB setups.
  11. LMAO, that's so ridiculous its probably true....:megalol::megalol::megalol:
  12. Contact customer support and they will gladly restock your activations. You could point them to this thread to explain why your using up so many in such a short time if need be. Thank's for the effort Tiborrr, much appreciated testing your doing.
  13. Tiborr, that's some absolutely awesome work you have done. One request though, could you please attach the used .trackfiles to the first post? This way people can run the same benchmark, compare results and maybe even identify bottlenecks on there systems. Looking forward to the Nevada tests.
  14. You may want to consider buying a monitor instead. No idea what the price difference is though. Personally i am VERY happy whit my Phillips BDM4065UC 40" 4k monitor. Colours are beautiful and it comes calibrated out of the factory. Best thing, your not limited to a 30Hz refresh rate if you use display port. (its display port i believe, please do double check though) Here's a English review of it; http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/6179/17/17-ultra-hd-monitors-review-pixel-explosion-philips-bdm4065uc The test results, http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/266281/philips-bdm4065uc/testresults unfortunately, the full and extensive product review is only available in Dutch; http://nl.hardware.info/reviews/5945/philips-bdm4065uc-monitor-review-echt-groot-beeld
  15. It's not a joke, its true. Have a look on this overclocking Review; http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/3319/ddr3-2666-memory-kit-review-corsair-vs-kingston PS, would there be a reason that they say on every RAM OC aritcle; "faster RAM no longer has much of an influence on a PC's general performance" Or something to that extend.
  16. Much higher Mhz is not good anyway's. And usually not because it will cause stuff to break. Just because you won't notice the difference unless specifically benchmarking for it. Its more useful to spend your money on more RAM rather then faster RAM. Source: http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/5993/workshop-memory-overclocking-get-the-most-out-of-your-modules
  17. Corsair? Yes Please!
  18. He kicked it off whit the KA-50, and it got better from there.
  19. Hello everyone, I know its possible to edit the .lua files of your controllers to extend the possibilities whit regarding to key bindings. Or rather, Switches. What i would like to do for example is the following, i have an on-off-on switch mapped to the salvo switch in the KA-50 which has 3 positions. However in the ingame controls menu i can only assign one switch position to it and have to repeatedly select it to cycle trough the 3 positions. (high, med, low) How can i edit the .lua file so that on1 will be high, off will be med and on2 will be low? I know the answer is already out there in this forum, i just cant seem to find it. ~S~
  20. Didn't know a Lynx was in the pipeline for DCS?:music_whistling:
  21. In the manual there is a nice overview of what HOTAS controls are what for on pages 86 to 92 The manual can be found in your installation directory in the following path; .....\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Doc\DCS A-10C Flight Manual EN.pdf Take note that every input has a similar effect on each Sensor of Interest. For example the China Hat Forward Short, on the; TAD: Field of View EXP Toggle TGP: Field of View Narrow / Wide toggle MAV: Field of View Toggle odd ones out; HUD: Set MAV as Sensor of Interest AIM-9: Uncage A tip for looking things up in the manual, or any PDF document. Whit the manual opened up hit CTRL + F, this will open a search box. Enter; Senser of Interest And hit enter, it will show you the first place in the document where that phrase is used. Keep hitting enter for the next result until you find a section that explains what the SOI is. (and SPI is in it as well) As for the tutorial mission, i used it to bind my controls. Everytime he explained a control that seemed important i paused the training and went into the options to bind that control to my hotas and used that binding in the rest of the tutorial. This also helps you remembering what you bind to what key cause your using it immediately.
  22. May i suggest having a look here? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=34062 Lists a lot of the squadrons, and some also state what there "goal" in the sim is.
  23. In depth review of the Fury X http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/6158/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x-review-amds-new-flag-ship-graphics-card Comparison between Fury X and 980 TI http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/6158/20/amd-radeon-r9-fury-x-review-amds-new-flag-ship-graphics-card-gtx-980-ti-or-fury-x-which-one-is-the-best-choice In short, there both equal. They just have both different pro's and con's. A case of pick your poison.
  24. Sounds like a duplicate key binding of sorts to me. Backup your ...\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input Folder and then delete it. Fly the A-10C again to see if the problem still occurs, if not, its a duplicate key binding causing the issue. If it still is it could still be a duplicate key binding but then from profiler software as found on the X52 for example. Could also be a legitimate bug ofcourse.
