resolved Multithreading very poor performance - fixed with slow repair
Limaro replied to egon83's topic in Game Performance Bugs
What symphtoms do you have? The same a the author of the thread? For me it looks like an inssue with energy management of windows (CPU spikes) and limited frames by VSync or something likes this. -

That matches with mine so far. did you observe HDD load? I upload her an example from mine. As the MT is another exe, maybe firewall or antivirus starts looking to ambitious to it. Does it happen with VR only or also without? -

you new log came just before my question. I see it's resolved with the scripts. I guess buy the small repair. Yes under Saved games / dcs.openbeta you have Scripts. in there, everything like TacView and Vaicom is located. Did you monitor your CPU load while this is happening? And second: Does non-MT still work as expected? -

Have you tested without your Scripts folder (rename). I remember I had that picture of frametimes with a corupted TacView installation. And there are many scrip loading errors in your dcs.log. -
investigating Framerate decreasing up to 16% with 2.8.0
Limaro replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Warming up this thread with 2.8.3.37556 (Multi Threading Update) with some news: 1. I got a new CPU (5800X3D) some time ago. My first task in DCS was to remeasure the FPS from the very first post of me - and the results were identical. This did not surprise me, as they are very light missions with no CPU load. Thats Why I did not mention it since. I mention in now because I measured again with 2.8.3, once with multi threading once without. 2. I've measured now following data for Beirut 4_2: 2.7.18: 74.9 FPS (lower CPU) 2.8.0: 65.8 FPS 2.8.1: 66.4 FPS 2.8.3: 68.0 FPS (got 2 FPS back) 2.8.3 MT 73.8 FPS (almost back to pre 2.8) Beirut 4_3: 2.7.18: 100.9 FPS (lower CPU) 2.8.0: 88.1 FPS 2.8.3: 92.3 FPS (got 4 FPS back) 2.8.3 MT: 103.4 FPS (more than 2.7.18) A surprising result for me. My mindset was, that multi threading would have no effect on my scenarios. They are located near the city of Beirut (large) but only my airplane in single player. Not any other AI aircraft or ground unit. Dispite the good MT results, I'd still like to not mark here anything as resolved. Just imagine performance of 2.7.18 having multi threading . Anyway, ED, thanks for the improvements and keep up the good work EDIT: I could reproduce these results with my second PC. Spec is Intel i5-4670, 32GB DDR3, Geforce 980 (4GB) Caucasus Scenario: 2.7.18: 66.4 FPS 2.8.3 ST: 57.4 FPS 2.8.3 MT: 68.0 FPS Marianas Scenario: 2.7.18: 44.2 FPS 2.8.3 ST: 42.6 FPS 2.8.3 MT: 49.5 FPS dcs.log PC2 dcs.log_2.7.18.old PC2 dcs.log- 31 replies

2 computers with same hardware, massive FPS difference
Limaro replied to fastfed's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I guess you are flying the same version and the same module? This may have a great influence. If yes, for comparison and optiomization check the following things: 1. Compare your grafic settings. Maybe in Adrenalin (AMD Graphic Driver) one of you have different settings. I could imagine, one of you have FreeSync or VSync. That's not bad in generally, but would explain different results in frames and gpu load. This is my top guess about this issue. a. Also check that you run the same Adrenalin version. Btw. Using the very latest 23.2.1, I am getting 2-4% more fps. 2. For the energy management, go to control panel, there to the power management. Check you run on highest power. a. You can also hit windows key, type "power management". b. Select high power (something like that, dont know how it's in english windows) c. Change the plan, then again to extended settings d. In this window check that CPU performance is set to 100% 3. Deactivate the gaming mode. Open settings, search for gaming, there you can deactivate it. 4. Try without scripts by renaming C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts -
Hello, I believe this is a very important thing, and might be a very simple to realize. It would be extremely helpful and would reduce pain of creating mission, if there would be a way to filter units in the dropdown list , either by their Tech-Pack like WWII assets (or more in future), or by "years of invention" maybe grouped into decades. This would help in so many ways. For designing WWII-Missions as well as designing none-WW2, and in case of the decades, designing scenarious of other time frames. Thanks for reading, and hopefully considering. Regards PS: For all who have suggested this many times. Liks this one, or push your own back to top! Edit: Put tech pack in title into brackets.
-
Please ED, this might be a very low hanging fruit.
-
I am fully aware of that. And my proposal and initial post was not about to ask ED to answer to everything. Not at all. -> My suggestion was to take load away from ED and instead, move an important part of the work back to the community. Subsequently, having this primary work done, ED can more easily see what's important for the community. And the people suggesting things, too!! That would be motivating even more. And, just a guess, it would reduce the amount of multiple equal wishes. And then it would be nice, when the best ideas get some official Feedback from ED. Maybe the title wasn't well chosen.
-
Hello everyone, This is basically a much more general wish to ED. But also I am asking community about this idea. Maybe I am totally wrong with it, or I was just making very unpopular contributions so far. I am missing (more) feedback from ED to the wishes. My feeling about ideas, is, that I have no feeling at all. There are many good ideas out there, and I don't see, whether they have been taken into account, or have even been seen at all. Example: Mission Editor wishes. You have to navigate to page 4, to see the first "labeled" wish, and it's "not planned". All other remain "untouched"? I am aware of the fact, that there are way to many to ideas, and they are varying enormously in complexity, to rank all of them. However, at DCS World I see a much more contructive community than in other games. I believe there are technical ways to let all these clever people do some of this ranking in first place. No matter how you implement it technically (forum or something else), I like the idea that every one who makes a (well describred) wish, has to rank at least 5 other wishes. Doing so, this would lead to a good pre-filtering and finding popular ones, so that ED-guys wouln't have to go through all of them. Regards Limaro

All in title. I guess this is not new at all. but this would be unbelivably helpful.

Since some days I cannot reproduce it. maybe some driver issue from AMD or very bad mood of my system that day. Even when switching between applications with Alt+Tab it's not appreaing again. @jonsky7If it happens again, I will try your layout and see if the offset will become horizontal.

I have a Track. It happens always after exactly 40 sec when communication with ATC starts. Track attached. @silverdevilcan you verify that it happens with your PC, too? BLACK_SQUARE_2.trk EDIT: Corrected Time to 40sec

What are cubesim? Technically they are just three simple screens of 1280*800 connected via HDMI.
-
Yes, this is exactly what I've had. Ok then, it can be marked as known issue
-
Yes this sounds like mine, it was on sunrise. @silverdevilI can't open your link, it's done YouTube studio link
-
No I believe this is something different. Mine was not flickering. It was an apearing but steady square. It was quite stable, until looking into it to get everything black or looking away to get rid of it.
-
Sure. Yesterday it did not happen for one session again. However two days ago I could restart as often as I wanted, it always was like this. maybe it's over or it was some driver thing from AMD?. 2Camera+RMFCD .lua

Since the last update, I have an issue of pointing the mouse. My monitor setup is as shown in the attached sketch. In game now, my mouse does point somewhere, but the effect is done at another position, higher. At the very top it looks like hitting quite well, the lower it gets in the screen, the more inaccurate it gets (second scetch). On disconfigurating the multi monitor, everything works fine again. nullIn Prior Versions, this only happend sometimes, when switching to other application with Alt+Tab. But now, arround 2 seconds after switching back to DCS this effect "starts". Immediately after switching to DCS, it works fine. --- Windows 10 Pro 21H2 Adrenalin 22.11.2

Flying F18, I had many times a large black square appearing in my field of view. It had no fixed position. When moving my head out of the view, it disappears. but when looking into it, everything becomes black. I then had to switch to F2 view, and back to get rid of it. By looking to it, initially, I'd say it had the size of my screen resolution. Two screenshots and logs attached. dcs.log

investigating Framerate decreasing up to 16% with 2.8.0
Limaro replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I've made some more tests and also compared some modules and many maps, but the results show all the same. Only Channel and Nevada are less affected. All Runs were about 80seconds long. Full data attached, here a overview of average data: Caucasus 2.7.18: 106.7 FPS Caucasus 2.8.00: 90.0 FPS -15.6% Marianas 2.7.18: 74.7 FPS Marianas 2.8.00: 64.6 FPS -13.5% Nevada: 2.7.18: 103.1 FPS Nevata: 2.8.00: 96.7 FPS -6,2% Persian Golf: 2.7.18: 108.8 FPS Persian Golf: 2.8.00: 91.5 FPS -16.2% Channel: 2.7.18: 91.4 FPS Channel: 2.8.00: 83.6 FPS -8,5% As a side-node: I believe this is the same thing as discussed in here: And It feels like the same flat-rate performance loss we had last year. I just hope, that we must not wait three patches again. @Flappie I count on you again to reproduce this and forwarding it to the dev-Team Benchmark.txt Performance_Fly_7_Caucasus.trk Performance_Fly_7_Channel.trk Performance_Fly_7_Marianas.trk Performance_Fly_7_Nevada.trk Performance_Fly_7_PersGolf.trk- 31 replies
