Flying combat single missions, weapons not on dsms
bradleyjs replied to Maazzoc's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
How do you reload the DSMS? I can't find it in the manual. Never mind ... I think I just found my answer... I guess I just wasn't very patient... ;-) -
Thanks!! Now, I have a "clue" - was just reading the manual on these systems yesterday ironically.
-
LOL  - I believe you are right! But, it would be nice to have that option - for more realism (by asking the "Ground Crew" AKA Crew Chief to "Pull Chocks") I have the TM Warthog HOTAS and rarely have that problem - but I've had it a few times...
-
I've heard people talking about a Repair Option on this forum but I can't find it anywhere in the manual - am I missing something? The Ground Crew option doesn't have it and I'm wondering if I'm missing something .... Basically, it would be nice to repair a blown tire then re-arm/re-fuel and go back.. But, don't think that option is available - Yes?
-
Nope ,that was a TYPOOOO .. oooops.. Yes, 2 x 500 GB (RAID 0) LOL - wish it was RAID 1+0 .. but the Alienware boxes don't have that option. I did a backspace w/out fixing that - My Bad And you would think being a Computer Engineer (plus Software/Network engineering) I would have caught that... Hey, after a long day at work makes the Mind weak and tired; And this Sim requires FULL attention to all details. I only had to work a 15 hr day on Friday and actually got Sat/Sun off for the 1st first time in weeks.. So, I spent that time to "test" the new patch over the weekend. That's why I don't get to spend as much time on the Sim. Good obervation Nate! You're sharp!

Ahh, good one again! I have the Trim modifier set to the Pinky Switch - Hat ... and when I do Trim the A/C it does respond to the input by "slightly" moving in the direction as requested; then it snaps back like normal until it "settles" from the command. I do know that the Trim does work because when I'm "heavy" with ordance it works as expected -as it always has. Let me try another mission for testing, as I was doing a Training mission (MAVs); perhaps it is related to that the tng msn itself - not sure. On that note, I did a refuel/reamarm to continue the tng msn and noticed that the ordance was loaded on-board the A/C but it didn't show up in the DSMS. Again, no issues here and I don't really think there's a bug in the code .. it could just be my setup or config. When the A/C is "clean" AKA no-drag, it just seems different.. And, I can deal with it -- been there and done that before IRL. Config == 1.1.0.8 (patched from a Full-Install of 1.1.0.7) and NO MODS whatsoever. Alienware M17xR2, Win7 x64, 8GB RAM, 1TB RAM (RAID 0), i7 1.73 4-Core, ATI SLI 1024MB (don't remember the model # right now) -- I'm sure you get the jist.. Let me do some more testing over the next few days (when I can find the time) and IF I find that it happens everythime, I will post a .trk and submit it to Support for review - otherwise, have a nice day and Blue Skies Ahead - it could be a little bumpy! ;-))
-
Nope - I have the TM Warthog HOTAS - nothing else physically.. My Rudder assignment is using the Stick with a Modifier (Pinky Switch and Alieron).. Again, not a big deal - just an observation. But, that suggestion makes absolute sense - I have to agree.
-
One thing I noticed yesterday, during 1.1.0.8, testing is that the flight model seems to have changed ever so slightly. When I release all of my MAVs (on 2 TERs - stations 3 and 9) [ALQ-131 and TGP only remaining] that the A/C's trim seemed hard to control. The A/C wanted to continually climb no matter how much Down Trim I gave it and it wanted to Roll Right (again no matter how much Left Trim I gave it).. Of course chopping the throttle to Idle released the "urge" to go out of Trim (and I reset the the Trim to T/O - as well all do when doing a Cold-Start) but that only seem to slightly passify the Trim issue. I don't remember this being an issue with previous releases.. But, then again, I "could" be mistaken ... or didn't really pay that much attention like I'm doing with this new patch. Anyone else notice this? Anyway, this is just an observation nothing else.. The A/C is incredibly easy to fly non-the-less.

+1 - it really does wonders for the immersion factor.
-
I'm glad this was clarified -- I saw the same thing yesterday and wondered about it too. However, I was excited to try out the new patch - I didn't really care at the moment. ... ;-))

I never saw a Twitter tweet for this from ED - strange they either forgot to post or I just didnt see the tweet ,,, doesn't matter now -- thanks ED!

You are welcome!

How long did it take you to learn the A10?
bradleyjs replied to Flacracker's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
To be extremely honest, I'm such a freaking NOOB... I can fly the aircraft very easily (as I'm a RL Pilot) but as far as weapons delivery, haven't gotten that "mastered" yet .. just don't have the time to spend ... been working 7-days a week for the last 2 months (I'm an IT computer engineer and have been supporting a large desktop migration) and by the time I get home and take care of personal business - I'm too tired to expend anymore "intellectual" energy on it .. I've been a simmer since MS Flight Sim v2.0 on an Apple IIC --- way, way back then... This kind of sim is just perfect as I can spend years just learning and enjoying the overall "imersement factor" and the realism it provides.. Been a Beta01 user since it first existed. So, no bitching here!!! I did buy the TM HOTAS Warthog just to be able operate the aerospace vehicle with as much realism as possible; and I do recommend this expensive hardware to anyone who can afford it.. Although, I did have to beg my wife to "buy" it for me as my Christmas present last year ;-) My .02 Cents.. ! -
DCS A-10C landing with 100 knots of wind directly across the runway!
bradleyjs replied to lobo's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Nothing like creativity!!! Good one!! -
Yeah, I know that.. I'm ex-USAF from the aviation community... (Long time ago)...

This isn't really on topic but it is a must see: I've seen many A-10 demos for years at various airshows that I've attended - and the flight profile is pretty much the same each time...

BBall knows what he's talking about .. that advice is precisely what should be done ... always remember to ….”FLY THE AIRPLANE” - everything else is secondary ... I've had a few single-engine landings so far and I actually find it to be quite exciting... And, I love to just do touch-n-goes for fun and some basic sight-seeing..

Some questions (fuel / takeoff / landing)
bradleyjs replied to Malleus's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You should go to the "Hold Short" line [which is adjacent to the runway] which is 2 solid lines and 2 dashed (colored Yellow) lines and call and wait for clearance to T/O... I haven't tested this in the last few releases - been too busy with work to spend any significant amount of time to really play it... I'm sure that's where you want to be located in order to "trigger" the tower clearance. Look here for an example of what I'm talking about -- http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.askacfi.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/hold-short-line.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.askacfi.com/136/enhanced-taxiway-centerline.htm&h=283&w=448&sz=53&tbnid=qd-SbTisULBSrM:&tbnh=80&tbnw=127&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhold%2Bshort%2Bline%2Bat%2Bthe%2Brunway%2Bpic%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=hold+short+line+at+the+runway+pic&usg=__2jPeDpkQYmxTs8uxleMqt5Y9X5o=&sa=X&ei=xm2nTfHvEqSD0QGp4-n5CA&ved=0CBoQ9QEwAQ -
Thought from a noob...Trim is your friend
bradleyjs replied to cichlidfan's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yep, as a RL pilot (which I haven't flown in years ... arrrgghhhh) - Trim is an essential part of basic flight. I have the TM:Warthog HOTAS and have the Pinky switch + Trim Hat combined for Trim operations... Works good for as I trim the A/C during the entire flight to maintain the flight params. When you expend ammo/fuel and/or change airspeed it requires the A/C to be trimmed again and again.. Just like in RL!!! -

Please elborate on how to get this to work with the latest release... I'd be more than happy to try that myself (will deal with any CTDs for now, no problem) ... I'd prefer to fly that map instead.. Thanks:cry:

Nope - you're the Pilot...
