  1. July is nearly over so we should find out about Lockon's future soon ...
  2. Your post already reveals what we can expect. ;)
  3. Finally, the awkward black trees are gone :) This should be included in Black Shark...
  4. It has a lot more detail? ...
  5. The Su-25T model has a lot more than 20K poly's, especially with ordnance. You can check this in game by pressing CTRL-BACKSPACE twice (check to left corner of the screen).
  6. Perhaps you need to read up on Windows Vista. ;) In Windows Vista, you are never running as an administrator by default. That is to say, even if you are a member of the (default) "administrators" (security) group, you do not have administrator priviliges. This was done to mitigate security issues. After all, administrative priviliges have a lot of power ;) In windows vista, to elevate priviliges (when this is required, e.g. when changing a system setting or installing software) you need to give your consent (click "Allow"). These dialog windows are created by UAC (User Account Control). You may wonder then, if even an administrator account isn't running with administrative priviliges (by default), what is the difference with a normal user account? The difference is that when you need to elevate your priviliges to administrator level, you only have to click on "Allow" (this is called the "consent UI"), whereas a normal user has to enter a user name and password of an administrator account (the "credential UI"). Depending on the situation, the end-user may not know the password and needs to ask someone who does (corporate scenario, or home scenario when you have kids ;) ) Older software installation programs obviously weren't created with this new system in mind and thus can give some problems. UAC tries to automatically detect application such as installers and throws up a consent dialog ("Allow"/"Deny") when you run them. Obviously, this is only a best effort and with certain applications you will need to explicitely "Run as an administrator". One reason why you may get a lot of UAC prompts with older software is because it is often doing things which require administrative priviliges, even though it shouldn't. For example, opening a system file with read-write mode, eventhough the application will only read the file. Hopefully, developers will change their habits when developing applications for Windows Vista so they only use the priviliges that are required, thus allowing a normal user to use the application without having to elevate. UAC acts as a gatekeeper system. If you give an application permission to run with elevated priviliges, you are responsible for the consequences ;) edit: rephrased the last sentence
  7. I too like the stick itself a lot. When I play IL-2, I use the FF2 stick in combination with the X-52's throttle :) I really don't like the X-52 stick with the mechanical spring :/
  8. Forward Air Controller? Looking for targets and directing air-to-ground attacks? I'm not an expert ;D
  9. Given the fact that games with ads cost the same as games without ads, and given the quality and after-release-support (patches etc.) is usually extremely limited: never. We're being ripped off plenty-ful already.
  10. When that Wii-mote gets airborne, the physics sure are real! ;)
  11. Those battleship models are great :) http://www.deespona.com/3denciclopedia/categoria_ships.html
  12. Drama Queen. Please, stop smoking.
  13. You're not working paperless these days?
  14. They are not publisher in the CIS countries, 1C is, AFAIK. Ever wondered why the addons for Lockon feature Russian flyables? ;) Btw, did you consider that "15/5/2006" is another way for saying "half of may 2006"? ;) I can't believe you looked up which day of the week it is :D
  15. Actuallly this is not abnormal, since the publisher is the one who "sets" the "release date". ;) If the publisher and developer are the same, then they may still give out a target release date to distributors of the product, whether or not the "programmers" like it or not ;) Just about all software is released before it is "done".
  16. In some cases, the developer / publisher no longer exists, but in many cases it does. Just check for (really) old EA titles on abandonware sites. Obviously EA is still here.
  17. Abandonware is still illegal, AFAIK. Not being available in stores doesn't mean you have the right to download it ;)
  18. Looks quite illegal, the site also appears to be using multiple brand logo's (NBC, CNN, MTV) without permission. One could say that Google is making money from illegally sold software ... Someone advertises through Google -> makes profit by selling illegal software -> uses profit to fund ads (Google).
  19. That's funny, it runs quite well on a 4 year old Dell Latitude laptop with 512 MB... Of course it doesn't have the fancy graphics, they are optional. It sounds like you're talking about Ubuntu/Beryl (Linux): http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=beryl Go ahead, look at a few videos. The GUI in Windows Vista is actually quite "civilized", unlike Beryl. Maybe if you actually tried out Vista RTM, you would know what you are whining about. It's called Moore's law (Intel guy). It still applies. If you ran any serious software such as database servers then you would actually see the performance improvement over the years.
  20. The "rivers" in Lockon don't even "flow" ;)
  21. Dice, are you aware about the "A-10C" which ED is modelling for the Air National Guard? (The Battle Sim)
  22. There are two samples with fighter aircraft on www.wmvhd.com. (F-15C with F-16 agressor and "Blue Angels")
