  1. Definitely not. Many products over here are sold without localized manual/writings. It may however be required for certain types of products, like food. (some people are allergic to certain ingredients ...)
  2. You obviously don't live in that area :D You mean the lucky few that got first dibs ;)
  3. Clearly the Apache was shot down by a farmer.
  4. Thank God for 6DOF ;) As for performance issues, many games use lower detail rendering for the mirrors. This can allow you to have relatively high-resolution mirrors while not sacrificing too much performance. In LO/FC (where the mirrors are limited to eye candy) we could already select resolution, why not detail? (low res textures, low 3D model LOD's, simple lighting, no shadows, etc.). We can finally have functional mirrors (when used with TIR-6DOF) and still have a decent framerate. A hint for DCS ...
  5. Demonstration version for the Simware event, not "game demo for download" ;)
  6. Why do you keep avoid discussing the water screenshots? This is poor damage control.
  7. You may want to check the water tech demo. If you're right, then it's not the same. You have nothing to lose by checking it out. Here's what XSI say in the dev diary regarding the water screenshots:
  8. If you change the settings (check readme.txt), you can achieve the exact same screenshots. There is no doubt at all that those screenshots were created using that tech demo. People should realize this, instead of denying the truth to themselves. XSI posted those shots in a development diary, and passed them off as their own work, which it clearly isn't. That's simply not right, you don't expect that from a professional company. Btw, I wonder why the first screenshot is so small, compared to the others it's a thumbnail. The text is barely legible... It's almost as if we're not supposed to recognize it.
  9. Wipsnake, I posted a link to the tech demo which they used to create the water screenshots. Just download it and see for yourself (link in my previous post). I will contact the author of the tech demo. I haven't seen any application that renders terrain exactly like Terragen does. It's quite unique.
  10. I do believe the terrain was rendered using Terragen. Moreover, the screenshots of the water were taken from a water shader demo application called "projective grid concept demo". This application demo was distributed with source code ... I've uploaded this demo application (and source code) to this message so everyone can see for themselves. (download here) Uh oh.
  11. The terrain screens look like they were created using TerraGen.
  12. What's the ETA for the release of KoS?
  13. It would be great if they could split up the different processing areas (AI, physics, terrain ...) over the available CPU cores... Right now, Intel's Q6600 quadcore costs only 250 euro-ish. That's what a monocore CPU cost just a few years ago. By the time DCS:BS is out, it will cost even less, and when the next modules are out, maybe quadcore will be semi-standard on new systems. Multicore CPU's are here today and will only get more prevalant in the future ... *hint*. It'd be a shame to let those cores idle :D
  14. Everybody who's playing Crysis?
  15. Did you use VBR? (variable bit rate) If you check the size of the video (~129 "mebibyte" for 6'01"), then it appears the actual bitrate (audio + video) is about 3 mbps.
  16. Hmm, 3173kbps is a lot by itself ... According to the headers in Edge.wmv, the video stream uses less! (3017kbps) Video normally takes up much more space than audio. I think DVD video with 5.1 surround doesn't use 3mbps all the time :o
  17. Hmm, I haven't seen a playable version of FO at any event ... DCS:BS however ... :D
  18. As far as I can remember, the Su-25T in Flaming Cliffs already features individual tire damage.
  19. Once people get their hands on a high-fidelty flyable A-10A or AH-64A they will probably change their mind. ;)
  20. Well, ED did model the A-10C for the Air National Guard ... They'd have to actively remove "classified" stuff to make it unrealistic.
  21. Ehm, .. maybe from Iran?? ;)
  22. Just double click game.bat and type any of the available commands (e.g. start, retreat ...) as you see fit.
  23. Sounds like the script of a Hollywood movie. All that's missing is a love story and a happy ending :D
  24. I understand the technical reason, but it would still be handy ;)
  25. Personally I haven't made much use of the training tracks in Flanker2.x/Lockon because (afaik) there is no easy way to "rewind" in case you missed something. Is this being considered?
