Bringing this thread back up because it’s the most relevant to my point. Before you new guys go “el cheapo” on a HOTAS- it is CRITICAL to understand that almost all the terminology that you will see while trying to learn this simulation will be “true to life”. How do I switch White & black hot? …slave my maverick to the tgp? ..change countermeasures program? … zoom the TAD map in and out? … You’re going to get answers like “boat switch fwd/ aft” “china hat fwd. LONG” “DMS fwd. / aft” From both forum people and in a lot of the training itself. This is not a sim where memorizing “[insert key command here]” is going to be very helpful for the vast majority of the aircraft’s operational procedures. It’s almost impossible to focus your mind on individual key commands and come up with a sensible, organized profile no matter what HOTAS you buy. I tried- on a CH setup which- second to the TM warthog- is the most accommodating to flying DCS A10. It won’t work. There are too many key combinations that serve multiple purposes to program individually. They often all sound the same, and are dependent on what is the SOI/ long & short, etc. If you want to learn this aircraft- you NEED to get as much programmability and as many options in front of you as possible. YOU MUST choose a HOTAS that can program a TRIM, TMS, DMS, SLEW, CHINA, BOAT, and COOLIE “true to life” (or very close to it) or you are in for a lot of anguish. I’m not going to get into “in depth reviewing” in this post. Already done. Your best options in no particular order are: Thrustmaster Warthog - (authentic to real A10- doesn’t get much better than that design wise) CH Products* -(fighterstick is authentic design- throttle is missing a couple things- but easy to overcome) Saitek X52 pro or X65- based solely on pictures- they SEEM to have enough HATS to accommodate DCS A10. (edge to x65, IMO ) *owner I'll now defer to sobek : "good, fast, cheap" choose any 2" :D

How about something like-- If you were to take out a piece of infrastructure, model the consequences. For example if a power plant or a transformer station were destoyed- lights in nearby towns & cities go out.. (S77th- Devilman's idea) Bridge taken out- traffic stops -- civilian traffic-- I know the military vehicles stop, but the civvies used to hover right over the open space lol...

Tried the RU airfield attack- Sochi- I had 2 issues.. First- what's the point of the SU25's? I tried every radio combo I could and there was simply no response.. 265 & 275 UHF, 124 VHF AM & FM using the "Flight" set of commands to have them engage targets at Sochi.. I was able to get wingie to respond w/o problems.. Second- apparently there is a hostile responder at Sochi that just spawns in and rolls.. Personally- I am not a fan of that. At the very least he should be on the ramp and have to taxi.. Just my opinion :)

Obviously- These charts are only suitable if you have these HATS emulated on your stick like the real thing.. AT LEAST a TMS & DMS.. I think the X52 pro has an edge over the regular in this regard.. nevermind.. read sig- You got it.

Are you referring to the JTACS calling out coordinates for a target- and how to apply that information?

I sympathize with you Sel- mine's been Kon since 1998 or whatever... F22 Raptor, then L3 Been contemplating a change, but I feel stuck with it now.. I probably should have changed it when I migrated to LOMAC..

Shouldn't have to do a ton other than axis mappings. Assuming you use Your stick's profiling software for your buttons..

Only other thing I can come up with is that you have to repeat the process for EACH PLANE that you fly. If you set it up correctly for the SU 27 it won't neccesarily be correct for the Mig, 33, etc
