  1. Mine was an XPS too- so good to hear they at least partially understood their situation
  2. Last I checked- If you want to upgrade anything other than memory on a Dell- you will have plenty of issues. Upgrading my video card on my old dell was a terrible ordeal. They have their own "special" (cheap junk) case that did not/ doesn't allow you to upgrade the 10 watt power supply it comes with easily. Typically PSU's have power switches which won't fit behind the weird case they use. I ended up having to rip the switch out and splice the wires together. It was that or take a hacksaw to the case to cut out a hole for the switch.... heheh Bottom line- Never again. Dell has seen the last $ they will ever get from me.
  3. yeah grey indicates they have not yet accumulated any rep value themselves to pass on. Here Prophet- I'll see if I can offset some of the mistakes.. :) EDIT.. whoops I can't.. Seems I gave you some recently..
  4. The limits of the HMS were purposely cut way back to more realistically model the real one
  5. FC is made to install into an existing LOMAC installation- it's not a complete sim itself. Install- 1. your original LOMAC >> FC >> 1.12 patch IIRC- each update will place another icon on your desktop- get rid of the older ones. Does the problem occur with the FC install itself or the 1.12 patch install? In what form did you pick up FC? (a cd or a download?) PICK YOUR 1.12 PATCH CAREFULLY!! There are 3 versions of it for the various media (cd, Euro-cd, download) Installing the wrong one will cause all kinds of havoc.
  6. ahhhh.. next time I'll read with 2 eyes open..
  7. You can override and it will track- but only if the Skhval has locked on. No guarantees it will make it to the target, but usually a KM or 2 beyond Rmax is OK.
  8. Problems with v1.0 too many to list. Aside from that- it is not uncommon for older missions to become corrupted when another version tries to run them. I think I remember an F15 campaign mission having a freeze even when we were all running v 1.0.
  9. S77th-KonKuSSio Yeah yeah I know. Jiri told me a long time ago that he intended to add more character space to HL for version 4, looks like that ain't gonna happen. This makes it easier on me for logbook purposes. When I join a server I need only add 1 character instead of changing it from S77th-konny to S77th-KonKuSSioN every time. :D
  10. I answered you on the ubi forums yesterday. You are under specs be it your monitor, graphics card (or lack of) or both. I do not know if a touch screen monitor is suitable for high speed graphics.
  11. FLIGHT HARDWARE SETUP FOR LOCK ON: MAC ***NOTE- This page will help you get your stick working right no matter what brand it is. Scroll down to get specific help with Saitek software and Saitek X45 HOTAS*** Initial setup: This is where virtually ALL the mistakes are made that cause problems later. First thing’s first. Some terms. In- Game: When I say this- I mean start LO:MAC. There is something we need to do within the menus & settings of the game itself. Mappings: assignments of game functions to the stick. Either a button, rotary or the stick & throttle axis. Buttons: erm.. The buttons on the stick. Still with me? Axis: An axis is set up “in game”- NOT from within the stick's profiling software. Primary axis are things like the PITCH, ROLL, RUDDER, & THRUST. Secondary axis are things like radar range, separate engine throttles, zoom view, trim, etc etc. Here are the axis settings in LO:MAC: first- the flightstick (X-45 in this example) Pictured below: CH flight gear in this example. (FS, PT, PP in mapped mode via Control Manager) Click here to see the MOUSE axis mappings as I have it in LOMAC. Controls the TDC/ Mav.cameras on FS ministick If you do not have rudder pedals, then you will want your axis map to look like this (X-45 shown) OK first thing we need to do in LOMAC is fix the default axis settings. They are usually not right- Especially the THRUST & RUDDER. Start LO:MAC ON the main menu, click “options”. Options screen- Flip the switch (top right) to “input” See this pull down menu? (Circled, says "keyboard") Click it & select your flight controller from that list. DO NOT leave it on “keyboard” or you are heading for a reinstall. Got it? Now flip that switch to the right to “AXIS” A new list of functions will appear that looks like this: Clicking on an axis will highlight it. Click on “clear”. Repeat for all of them that have anything next to them like "slider 0" or "rotator 0". Then click on “PITCH” to highlight it. Click on “change” button and cycle your stick full up and down until the movement registers in the small box. Move the stick stop to stop as precisely as possible. Try not to sloppily cycle the stick in a crooked motion. Click OK. Repeat for “ROLL”(left to right), “RUDDER”, & “THRUST”(cycle throttle). I don’t mean “left or right thrust”- just “thrust” by itself. Adjust the sensitivity & dead zones to your liking using the sliders to the bottom right- shift, d-zone & curve. Fly & adjust. I have marked my rudder axis settings in yellow below as an example. You may also assign any of the other supported axes to a rotary, etc. In the above example -I assigneda rotary for “MFD view”, as this controls my radar’s range. This is also a good time to note that the “zoom view” axis is porked as far as the X45 is concerned. It will work, but it has a horrible shaking that apparently cannot be corrected. I do not recommend use of this in-game axis. Click to see a screenshot of the zoom view mapped to a rotary from within the SST software. CLICK OK WHEN FINISHED OR IT WILL NOT BE SAVED. OK now we’re moving on to buttons. Flip the switch from “axes” back to “buttons”. We have a little bit of tedious work to do here. We need to clear off ALL of the in- game button mappings. Before proceeding- look now & ensure that the device is your flightstick, and your switch is set to “buttons”. This next step clears the way for using your stick's software to make custom profiles. OBVIOUSLY if you don't want to use that software - then DO NOT proceed with the next step! 1. There are 4 red buttons up top that say “combat”, “views”, “custom” , & “flight” Select one of them. 2. The list of functions will come up. 3. Go through that ENTIRE LIST and CLEAR any mappings that you see. It should have nothing assigned at all when you are finished, top to bottom. Repeat for the other 3 RED buttons. CLICK OK WHEN FINISHED OR IT WILL NOT BE SAVED. Stop here if you do NOT have an X-45 or some other Saitek product. Open your stick's profiler software & good luck! See you in the skies. Saitek stick owners (non X-45) may find some good stuff to use below. Good Luck.
  12. I think Amazon is out. I've seen several posts saying that when you attmpt to add it to your cart that it then tells you sold out. Maybe they keep it on the site for private owners to sell their copies.
  13. Mission builders can help the US pilots by simply creating an additional last WP in the general approach area of the desired airfield. This helps to put the aircraft in the right area to set up his landing. Because the ILSN point is (apparently)the end of the runway- you end up flying up to the airport and then having to maneuver out to set up an approach. I have found that it contributes to a real mess in busy servers- people landing in any direction, forcing bad approaches & crashing, etc etc
  14. I don't think Jiri is interested anymore. I was hunting a fix for a glitch in HL's appearance that came up on Vista systems on the HL forums- you wouldn't beleive what's been going on there (for months, evidently). The term "losers" has been re-invented. There's no way that behavior would have continued if Jiri had even glanced at his site lately.
  15. what did you do- download the patch? FC is a paid add on- did you buy it?
  16. I'm using both- and it does run much better- but that's a hardware thing. DX-10 has nothing to do with it. Nor does vista for that matter. In fact- it might still be better on XP. But at 40-80 frames most of the time -- hard to notice. But even this thing still experiences the stutters and slowdowns at times. That's lock on.
  17. "The Anatomy of" I've only seen F/A-18 [and "supercarrier"] in my area. Might be others.
  18. Not quite. There have been several cases where requests for support on various issues have been ignored for days on end. I even created a thread about this- people were buying FC and were unable to get their codes/ files because ED was processing CC's manually or some such thing. There are people who needed more activations, and were ignored. For how long- I don't know. I don't claim to know the specifics- I just read, and have to make assumptions. I think expecting your customers to fart around in their registries just to save an activation is--- not good customer service. Not everyone is knowledgeable enough to be comfortable messing with stuff like this. Based on this- it's perfectly legit to question whether or not ED will regard a paying customer's product not working anymore- as important.
  19. Using google earth for what that's worth- I don't even see Novo at all- there's something there that kind of looks like it MAY have been a runway at one time.. Gelen is lookin miiii-ghty barren but someone left a chopper and a bus there (finders keepers on the chopper) LoMac's Maykop is... not even close to what is showing there. wow.
  20. You're welcome. Although I think I mention this a few times on the site- I will emphasize that even though the setup is the same for just about any model stick- the SST version you see pictures of is older- and may not completely match what you see. Also- do NOT try to use my X45 profiles on your X52- they will NOT work.
