Is DCS:BS a Lock-On Killer ?
S77th-konkussion replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Ditto. Don't even have DCS installed- and no intention of doing so until a jet is ready. However I would definitely expect LOMAC to wither fast when that happens. Unless this 1.13 patch is a lot better than expectations- I'd say LO withers fast when the A10 hits.. The only advantage LO might claim is the variety and that it's on hyperlobby. Too bad Jiri has apparently abandoned HL.. can't add anything to it now. -
X52 Pro and Buttons 33 and 34 sticky. Is there a fix?
S77th-konkussion replied to dok_rp's topic in Bugs and Problems
Which is what you're supposed to do anyway. Set AXIS in lock on- everything else you set in SST -
.. it does this from the moment you select the weapon? With no other input from you- such as ground stabilizing the camera (tab key/ lock)

HOTAS= Hands on throttle and stick. This is the most immersive & realistic way to fly. Any 2 (or 3 if you have rudders too) piece flightstick will quadruple the available programming space. Enough space to have all the critical commands ergonomically laid out at your fingertips ready to use instantly. Keyboards mean you are left to memorizing key combos and fumbling around trying to use them. Many pilots feel their aircraft to be "an extension of their bodies" That's the idea, and keyboards are not conducive to this at all.. So the Axis of the plane I supose is right, left , up and down. right? Ehhmm.. kind of. The basic axis are Pitch, Roll, Rudder, & Thrust -

Yeah.. If you plan on doing this as a serious hobby- you'll need more than a single piece stick. But if it doesn't bother you to spend money now on a cheap Saitek Aviator or whatever- then just go get one and get started. Any of them are fine as basic starters as long as you're not using the keyboard for the flight control axis.. At some point you'll have to start all over again later on with a real 2 piece HOTAS, so my thought process is why not just do it right the first time? -
Track IR for sale..
S77th-konkussion replied to S77th-konkussion's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Wasn"t considering BS- but nevertheless- I think I have some file here that makes it work.. Of course the number of Axis does not change. http://www.mediafire.com/file/oitwtyjfmi3/DCSFreeTrackEnFix.rar -
Track IR 2 Pro. Yep. It's a "classic". Works great. Never had any trouble with it. $30 USD by Paypal including shipping to anywhere in the Continental US or Canada. Have installation CD, reflector dots, and I can email or MSN file transfer the last software update issued for this device- NP v3.10. Works fine in Vista. The only glitch occurs when you turn it off- generating some error. No issues with in-game use whatsoever. New guys- a TRACK IR is NOT a device made just for "those" crusty veteran and somewhat disturbed online-shark-type virtual pilots. This thing is a new guys' dream come true. The TiR will sweep away the obstacles in your path of learning by 1. freeing up programming space on your stick for commands you NEED to have on there. 2. letting you see what needs to be seen using what God gave you to use- yer MELON. Learning to fly in complex simulations is difficult. It takes a 100% effort and concentration. Stop budgeting 50% of that to simply trying to see what's going on- in and out of the cockpit glass.

Hee hee damn.. well I needed the typing practice. Nice work- and good luck.

Wags- If you want a $4k computer- you know where to get one that's actually worth it. Just don't buy Alienware with it. I don't know if Alienware was EVER anything more than really dumb looking cases-- but being owned by DULL is a 100% guarantee that every corner has been cut, every shortcut taken, and every penny pinched out of that machine. One quick example- DULL has proprietary cases, that typically house ultra cheap and specially-made-for-DULL components. Making simple upgrades can quickly become a huge chore, because not everything is as universal as you expect it to be. Many moons ago- I tried to replace my tired radeon 9800 with a "smokin hot" :smilewink: X800 XT Platinum. When the X800 sucked eggs- I discovered that a DULL tech lied to me about having a 400 watt- in fact I had a GROSSLY inadequate 250w no name crap PSU from Taiwan. Got a suitable 400w, but when I went to install it- I found that the case featured a unique PSU opening that did not account for the switch on the new PSU. (the old one had no switch!) Ended up having to take apart the PSU, remove the switch, splice the wires together- all so it could fit the stupid case that dell saved themselves 50 cents on.

Newegg has it- apparently.. It lets me add it to my cart with no "out of stock" messages anyway. I haven't seen new boxes of LOMAC much of anywhere else for a long while. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832138005&Tpk=lock%20on I would advise caution before purchasing it used unless you have no other option. There was a boatload of defective CD's released by Evolved Games, and they just let the product be sold defective instead of taking them back- leaving customers to flounder about trying to figure out how to correct the situation.. There's a fair chance that owners are selling them on ebay or whatever.. -
TrackIR 5 Recognition Problem
S77th-konkussion replied to Vaclav's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This is a bug that was created during the latest patch- 1.12b. To fix this- simply open your LOMAC folder and go to "input" and delete the "track ir" file. Back up one- go to the "config" folder and do the same thing- delete the "track ir" file you see. Restart the sim. Should be good as new. Keep in mind that this bug will be back EVERY TIME you make a change in your lomac options. Graphics, difficulty, axis mappings, all of it. The bug WILL NOT occur if you have your track ir ON prior to opening the options menu. -
Ahh nice. The president of VM is actually a longtime acquaintance & customer of mine as well. (Sold him a bunch of Toyotas over the last 15 yrs or so.)

Bookmark this site, too Wags. The quality and components of hand built, but with all the support/ warranty, etc. No bloatware- exceptional support. www.velocitymicro.com

When you rep someone- their tally increases or decreases based on the number of rep points you have earned. This is shown as a Reputation point value under your name, along with a series of green badges indicating post count/ rep points/ seniority on the board. Mousing over the green badges brings up a series of comments regarding status as set up by the board. Example: Anyone I rep (or negative rep) gains/ loses 27 points. There are several flood controls (various limits on repping) and you cannot rep anyone anonymously.

As I recall- the "S" key is the mission start button..
-
Nope.. Going to try it again- doesn't make sense to have all these CTD's after a couple of sessions with none.
-
Got 3 CTD's just over the last hour or so. These blow.

I also use CH- and I have the same issue. Apparently- FPS is the problem. High performance= high FPS = high speed. I set it to mouse as well, and although it's not completely satisfactory, here's what I've done: lowered the character rate in CHM (47) if there is a sensitivity setting- drop it down big time. (10) before flight- control panel\mouse\pointer options\ slide to slowest setting LOMAC has a key for slowing cockpit mouse speed (alt+rightshift) Still fast, but much improved. It varies with the plane. Quick, but very useable for fighter (SU33) Kind of difficult in SU25T. Even varies with the zoom level. There is supposedly a script for it too- but I don't know where to find it, or how to implement it.

F12 is "developer tools" by default in IE 8. Anyone know where these settings are / how I might turn it off? Didn't seem to be in advanced properties in Internet options.. PITA when using TS.. I'd rather not change my PTT key, but If I gotta.. I gotta.

Very Low Performance with Brand New System
S77th-konkussion replied to dok_rp's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
If heat blur is on- shut it off. Huge hog.. You might even be able to turn other stuff back up. Shut down unneeded programs that run in background. Then take into account what Red says. Cities bring everything down.. it's incredible.
