Thanks, man!

My comment had nothing to do with the lights, neccessarily.

I was trying to attach 2 screenshots to a thread that I already have uploaded to the forum. When you click "attachments" the only thing that comes up is apparently- a list of valid attachment types. So I opened a duplicate tab, went to my profile/ attachments and tried both the URL- http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=32646&d=1256343660 got "invalid" so I tried to reload them from my computer- also invalid. Should the attachment button bring up -- my attachments? My allotted space is only 1/2 full.

Wait'll you shoot off something heavy. Opens up a whole new world of trim issues. Get to know the many auto pilot modes, and have them readily available on your HOTAS. They come in handy.

got myself a new trackir 5 with track clip pro
S77th-konkussion replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Love mine too- although I can't use my pro-clip due to my headphone config. (behind the head) Save it for the next headset.. -
http://www.thrustmaster.com/ A flash movie right on the front page. (looks updated from before)

If you are confident that you want to make combat flight simulations a serious hobby- then you should invest in a 2 or 3 piece HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) Obviously this consists of a Flight stick, a Separate throttle, and a set of rudder pedals. Non combat flight sims are best played with a yoke, and rudder pedals. When just starting out there are many considerations: Level of computer & peripheral literacy (can I handle the setup & programming) Budget Quality, Future needs.. a track ir (you need this NOW), needed computer upgrades, etc... Budget related I suppose. If you need equipment & upgrades you may need to make difficult decisions on what to spend on now.. Brands and my opinion: Saitek: Most popular. Reasonably priced. Lots of programming space, relatively easy software. Quality & reliability- fair due to inconsistency. Typical huge corporation chinsy cheap construction. I've had 3 Saitek X45's. All of them broke in less than 2 years. Many many X52 users out there. Many reporting trouble free ownership, many of them report problems, broken stuff. The el-cheapo non pro X52 could be a good "starter" HOTAS, but If you long for more-you'll have to learn new software, etc.. New X65 model coming out soon. Logitech: A lot like Saitek, but they've been mostly AWFUL. Specialized in mostly super cheap/single piece junk over the years- but apparently-not anymore. The new G940 looks the part- and managed to secure a snazzy inital review. Now some time has passed- and the commentary is decidedly... typical old Logitech. Software is looking really bad so far. I wouldn't buy this thing just yet. Let's see if they are the same ole company they always have been. Lots of reports of VERY sloppy inputs, but the jury is still out on whether it's hardware or software. Leave it on the shelf for now. $400 is a ridiculous number for what might be junk. You can buy Saitek's junk for 1/4 to 1/2 that figure. Ch Products: This is what I now own. Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals. Top shelf liquor here. Quality & precision UNSURPASSED. Support- second to none. Software- Astounding capabilities with both programming keys to advanced scripting.. read this: (scroll down a bit) http://www.freewebs.com/konkussion/downloadsinc.htm Not cheap-(between 85-105 per piece) but if you replace a broken Saitek X52 one time-(likely!!) you've easily exceeded the $$ on a 3 piece CH setup that IS NOT going to break. The CH MANAGER software is NOT noob friendly, but the support MORE than makes up for this. Simply put- advanced capabilities require advanced software. Thrustmaster Cougar: Best looking stick. Has rotaries- something CH does not have, and can be fairly criticized for. Metallic (that's metallic- not STEEL like some delusional people will say) Somewhat expensive- no rudders. The very capable & dedicated community of owners is the only real support. Foxy software has very good capability, was originally written by the engineer now working for CH Products, the author of CH manager. Some say it is OK right out of the box, most accounts I have seen over the years say that the many mods- OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE MODS- are a "must have" to get the most out of it. The metallic feel is awesome, but does not neccessarily equate to quality. Have read many reports of extensive issues, but I also know several guys that would take up arms to protect their Cougars. A perfectly valid option. WHATEVER YOU GET make SURE you plan & budget to get a Track IR too. www.naturalpoint.com/trackir If budget is an issue- skip the rudder pedals for now, and get this device. It's THAT important.

Quality goes beyond the specs of the components themselves. It's about breathing and cooling. It entails cable routing (breathing & cooling) It's about genuine hi-end refrigeration or other systems- not just about cool looking neon green fluid hoses. It's about extensive testing & benchmarking at each stage of production, and after the build, but BEFORE you EVER see it. As far as cost- I'll grant you that Alienware has become more competitive in my quick comparo last evening- but this is a FIRST. They easily exceeded a VM system by well over a grand for a long time. Their silly looking cases just don't reel em in like they used to, I guess. So- speaking of juvenile- instead of getting smart ass with people after YOU asked for an opinion- why don't you simply read those opinions, look into it, and decide for yourself. I'm not even close to alone when it comes to my disdain for dell/ Alienware for GOOD reason. If you want one- then get it. I really couldn't care less now.
-
If Dell is involved- it is overpriced chinsy garbage- mass produced on a grand scale. That's what I meant. Not to mention the juvenile cases.
-
Alienware- booooooo.. If you want to have someone build it for you, and have a warranty, etc.. www.velocitymicro.com Top shelf liquor. No bloatware. At all.
-
This might all be for nothing anyway.. Not many laptops will even run this. If you're not a "computer guy" or a gamer- I find it very unlikely you got yourself one of the very few that could..
-
Best I can tell you here is start off by checking the hardware in the test/ calibration routines. If the software has one- use that. You may be able to check it within windows control panel, too. I'll assume for now that you have checked my hardware setup routine, and made sure your stick axis are all set properly..

TiR DOES work in 1.02 for sure. I don't remember what version was about when I got my 2Pro- but it was certainly way before FC. Probably 1.01. Now- Maybe Track 5 won't work... don't know why, but..
-
Heh.. I never even noticed that.. [no FC] This is just one of a 100 reasons to get FC and never look back.
-
Yep. TiR5 software (I don't have the actual version # in front of me) is an all around update for supported models.

LOMAC and my Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X
S77th-konkussion replied to Wags94's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The curve is going to be a personal preference. Moving it to the 3rd or 4th line will slow & therefore smooth out the inputs. Deadzone prevents unintentional inputs from occuring when the stick is supposed to be at center, or close to it. I can't explain the 2 lines.. No idea. But I wouldn't worry about it as long as the inputs work the way you want. -
Really? Damn.. this was the entire point of the "a" in patch 1.12a. I haven't seen it since. At least- not that I know of.

TRUST---F-C--1.0...NO I DONT!!!!

Every thread you start looks like a state of the art saltwater trolling suite. -
Sounds like you have some programming conflicts. Use the link below to set up your flightstick, rudders, and throttle axes. It will also clear the way to set up your stick's buttons from within the profiling software that your stick came with. Don't mind the many references to Saitek & CH. The setup is the same regardless of what you have. This page assumes you have PROPERLY installed all the drivers & needed software for your flightgear. http://konkussion.webs.com/flighthardwaresetuppage.htm

Post complete hardware specs, man.
-
Well- OK. I didn't mention going online to fly yet. Did you- or do you need to- try what I linked you to?
-
Do the "Run as admin" shuffle if you have Vista or W7. Not to mention the Starforce driver update. (but I think the error box is a bit more specific if this is the problem) http://konkussion.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=lomac&action=display&thread=6
