You might want to add the International Flightsim Weekend as well ;) -
The subscription form went online without much notice, so be sure to sign up before we run out of seats (approx. 150)! Click here to visit the LLTM website and sign up

Installed it this week-end, and it's there to stay!

My WiiMote project is complete!
Joe Kurr replied to JonK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hehe, I'm working on exactly the same solution here! When I first saw Johnny's videos I bought a Wiimote and some IR LEDs and started experimenting. I haven't had time yet to build a glove, I'm stuck to holding the LED in front of the screen and connect a wire to a battery in order to do a mouse-click. Another nice aspect of this system is that you can turn anything into a clickable panel, just point the Wiimote to the surface you want clickable, calibrate, and you're off! I'm thinking about trying this with my cockpit :) When I get results, I will post them here. -
At MAKS 2005 I heard otherwise from one of the devs present at the ED stand. But that was still the time when Black Shark was being developed as an addon for Lockon. So they might have been developing it for Lockon, but I'm quite sure we will only see the F-16C in DCS. Given the level of detail already in Black Shark at the moment, I think that's a good thing, and I agree with DarkWanderer: it's the F4 devs who will have some catching up to do when the DCS F-16 is released.

I mean that 32 bit or 64 bit has nothing to do with the memory configuration -- 2x 2GB or 4x 1GB. Both add up to 4GB. I agree with you that it does matter if you want more than 4GB of RAM in your PC.
-
32 or 64 bit OS has nothing to do with the choice of 2x 2GB or 4x 1GB. That choice really depends on the number of memory slots on your mainboard, and what is supported by it. The big difference between 32 and 64 bit is the amount of physical memory your OS can address. Here is a table which shows the physical memory limits supported by various Windows versions: The amount of physical memory shown by Windows Task Manager is usually less than the total amount of memory available. I don't know why this is, but these are the results I get: - PC (1GB RAM, XP Professional 32 bit): 0.99GB - Laptop (3GB RAM, Vista Enterprise 32 bit): 3,75GB

I think there is an error on their web site as well. When I click on the MAKS 2009 trip, I get the details for MAKS 2007.

I'm planning to go there, too. I'll be travelling with Spottertrips.eu, a Belgian tour operator which specializes in this kind of trips. The planning for this 5-day trip is as follows: Day 1: Flight from Brussels to Moscow and transfer to the hotel Day 2: MAKS Media Day Day 3: Monino Day 4: MAKS Public Day Day 5: Return flight Moscow to Brussels

F-16 scaring the hell out of the controllers at the Cornfield Range. I wonder how they got to the idea of naming the tower "Jackpot" :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ugd64pRY64U

I can admit that, after having been blown away by a C-141 Starlifter TWICE in one day :D
-
Small correction: Alex wasn't there (he was sick), the one in the right, next to me, is Joris aka Lightsniper.
-
The event was a big success, with 450 participants and some 3200 visitors over two days. It was great to have you guys around, hope so see you all again at the LLTM on April 2nd - 5th at Tobit Software in Ahaus. I have uploaded some pictures to our web site, which you can find here
-
No free tickets, but you can get a weekend-ticket at the entrance, which will give you a discount for both days. See you there!
-
I'm looking forward already to see you there! For those who want to come and visit us, here are the floorplans for the event: You can also get a discount if you print out this coupon: It gives you a Eur 1.90 discount per person, for up to 4 people. See you there!

Experiment - Controlling Lockon from another application using lua
Joe Kurr replied to Joe Kurr's topic in Home Cockpits
Maybe you need to specify the message in the LoSetCommand function call. Try LoSetCommand(50, "this is a test message") and see if that does anything. I haven't tested this yet, just a guess here ;) -
Experiment - Controlling Lockon from another application using lua
Joe Kurr replied to Joe Kurr's topic in Home Cockpits
Not everything you describe here can be done with Lockon. AFAIK you can't edit waypoints while flying a mission. In order to get your hardware to work, I think the easiest way is to write a separate application which interacts with your interface on one end, and communicates to a lua script in Lockon on the other end. The reason I only listen on the network port once every 100ms is simple: the shorter you make this interval, the slower Lockon will run, as the function which listens for network input is blocking, i.e. it holds up everything until it receives a command, or times out. -
I'd like to invite you all to participate in the International Flightsim Weekend 2008. Location: Aviation theme park "Aviodrome", Lelystad Airport, the Netherlands Date: November 1st & 2nd, 2008 Cost: Free for participants, visitors will have to pay the regular entry fee. The aim of this event is to show the public what our hobby is all about. It is the biggest flightsim event in Europe, with over 450 participants and about 2500 visitors each year. Participating in the event is free, the only thing you need to do is have a good time and interact with the people visiting the event. We will be there with four to six people, showing off our new 3-ship Su-30 aerobatics display (if all goes well) which we are rehearsing for VFAT 2008. For more information, you can PM me, or send an e-mail to Frans @ FSweekend.com Hope to see you there!

Does this also apply to events like the Flightsim Weekend and the Lowland Tiger Meet?
-
I saw it, but didn't see much difference in max AOA compared to the Spanish EF-18 which was at Leeuwarden earlier this year. Maybe he didn't go to the edge, or the airframe itself doesn't allow for more.

I was there on Sunday. The static park was nice, but the flying display was way too far off, with the crowdline some 500 meters from the runway. I had to use the full 300mm of my telephoto lens to capture the flyby of the KC-135. The weather was very nice though, with some small clouds against a deep blue sky. I'll see if I can post some pictures later today.

And here's the flying display. 1. Bell UH-1 Huey flying by sideways 2. RNLAF AB-412SP 'Tweety' performing a SAR demo 3. The F-16 starting its display routine 6. NH-90 from the Agusta-Westland factory, with Dutch Navy markings 7. The Belgian F-16 Solo Display drops a couple of flares at the end of its routine Tomorrow I will post the batch from Saturday, which includes pictures of the two major mishaps at the show.
