If I had to guess, I'd say no, as we don't have any map which matches those conditions.

DCS: Mi-24P - What we know + Discussion
Lucas_From_Hell replied to MrDieing's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Most of these tests are done with captive missiles (i.e. fully functional systems bar for the engine and warhead) or on static set-ups on the ground, so you can monitor the seeker's response to a target without having to waste a live missile and risk damaging or losing a drone. -
Usually when able they send Mi-8s under Mi-24 and, if available, fighter cover, but you're right - there was a recent incident in Libya where a MiG-29 was shot down and the rescue had to be carried out solo. They sent a Mi-24.

Between Syria At War, Low Level Hell and the SAR server, there's plenty of multiplayer options.

Вот эти. Они для автопилота, директора управление или есть что-то как ПРМГ?

У меня вопрос по AG. Какова функция указателей слева и справа от него?

It was mentioned in PilotMi8's livestream interview a few months back, but you're right - it doesn't show up in the product page any more. It might be the same case as the Mi-8MTV2, where that variant came after the S-8 had become the standard rocket so the S-5 wasn't integrated with the weapons system. We'll find out when it releases, I suppose.

Early Access Petrovich features info request

Definitely possible, and done if combat wasn't expected or if there were other helicopters doing the shooty bit. The main thing that 'doomed' the Mi-24 as a troop carrier and cargo helicopter is the fact that the Mi-8 and equivalent helicopters exist, and operators have both. You won't be wearing out your most capable gunship hauling potatoes to an outpost.

As far as the developer's standard goes, one phrase that's thrown around often by the Mi-24 team when asked for certain features is "no exotics" - in other words, they're trying to avoid including things which were rarely used or only theoretically possible, both to avoid unnecessary work and to keep the module a faithful recreation of a real, average Mi-24 in operational service instead of some unicorn variant.
-
The issue with doing this in the field is that you need two people to do that. That means both crewmembers need to leave the helicopter. Since there's nobody in the cockpit, you have to shut it off. The end-result of that is you have two officers standing outside in the open with no armour or any protection worth naming, and a helicopter with the engines off. They're prime targets for an ambush. Even if they don't, if they run into any technical trouble, it could leave them stranded there.

There's a nice mission in the Ka-50's "Deployment" campaign set up around that. You're helping an Interior Ministry operation against a local terrorist boss, in the middle of the night. A Su-34 flies overhead and drops a few illumination bombs, everything becomes bright as day for a few minutes, and that's when you strike.

I read the Mi-24 section of the book and couldn't find mentions of that in the Afghanistan entry. Perhaps it's a mistranslation of its ability to forward-deploy - the Mi-24 can indeed conduct long-term deployments to forward bases with only three people (commander, pilot-operator and mechanic), with all of them having assigned roles in the maintenance and rearming of the helicopter. A squadron or detachment flying to a forward base could indeed carry supplies, among which ammunition, on their way there. But this was not a practice in the middle of a single combat sortie.

There's scant evidence of that being done in real life outside English-language sources. Might be a good idea to pop into the Russian side of the forums and ask about it.

You could fiddle about with the mission editor files, I know there are simple one-line changes to some .lua there that allow fixed wing aircraft to spawn on the ground, it shouldn't be a hard fix to make. The best thing is that once you save the mission it'll keep that spawn position, so only the creator needs to mod that, as far as I know.

The description of those avionics in the quote post seems to match the Mi-24VM/PM, which usually are referred to as the Mi-35M.

I'm not sure the Mi-24's rotor can fit that ship.

Two per pylon for a total of eight.

According to the lead developer they weren't, but they'll consider updating it to NVG-compatible cockpits later down the line.

The Mi-8 and Ka-50 campaigns are some of the best in game, and they're both free and based on the Caucasus, so I have high hopes.
