  1. We're having a Tonka party I see :D All that's missing is one of Joey45's skins for it to be complete :p Nice screenies everyone!
  2. Thanks for the info. Unpleasant situation for the AF  When pure politics start weighting over actual advantages of said aircraft and supporting infrastructure it usually does more harm than anything. In solidarity, the Brazilian Air Force's been stalling on a Mirage III replacement for over 15 years, and every time the govt. is nearing a decision something waters it down. I know how it feels :D But now that you mentioned it, it surprises me SAAB and Brazil haven't discussed leasing Gripens, since it's the AF's pick anyway and the system's been used by a few other countries. Instead we extended the Mirage III up to 2006, closed the gap with second hand Mirage 2000 which are 'expiring' on the 31st December this year (no more engines, the factory ceased making engines for the C/B versions, and France took all the leftovers for their two-seater fleet) and now we're having 3 F-5EM squadrons scattered in the extreme north, extreme east and extreme south cover 4 airbases including the soon-to-be ex-Mirage airbase which is located in the dead middle of the country by sending two F-5s to do QRA in rotations.
  3. ETA 2015. Their FAQ on it: http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=8037720011
  4. Great skin Agg, the desert Tonka is one of my faves :D Are you sticking to RAF Tornadoes or will we see some other AFs? :)
  5. Thanks Vekkinho :) Any word on what will replace them after they retire?
  6. Nice shots! Any word on what were they up to in Odessa though?
  7. Thanks Frogfoot, will give it a go :)
  8. RRG is working on the rewards - a more interactive interface will be up soon to allow backers to choose/change rewards and avoid confusion. :)
  9. Now that's weird  Might be because I'm browsing on iOS.
  10. Brazilian Air Force may be considering second-hand F-16C Block 40/42 as stop-gap measure after retirement of Mirage 2000C fleet on the 31st December. The retirement leaves Brazil with no Mach-2 capable aircraft. The 1st Air Defence Group (1o GDA) will be reduced to six airmen, one Major and five Captains, to perform administrative duties and keep their flying up to speed for whenever a replacement is brought in. The squadron will have no aircraft for the time being, while 2 F-5EMs from other squadrons will do rotations in QRA duties to fill the gap. These will sometimes be flown by GDA pilots in the meantime. Curiously enough, the F-X2 competition had the same finalists as the Swiss fighter competition, however air force evaluations were entirely different: the Gripen NG ended up first including among test pilots, while the Rafale is rumoured to have been third. A Super Hornet deal was nearly announced but went down the drain when NSA spying on the Brazilian Presidential Office surfaced. Sources point at a decision in 2015, after the election year. Article in Portuguese, Google Translate is advised: http://www.aereo.jor.br/2013/11/18/indecisoes-no-f-x2-onde-ha-fumaca-ha-f-16/
  11. It's not defense related, probably soundtrack/whichever company has the rights to them restricting it to US. My guess is the song has a different record label in Europe. If it helps I'm in Sweden and I can't watch it either :D
  12. What they said really. Study the maps and known threats until you can point them out blindfolded, and learn how to use the autopilot. Your life will feel 10x easier once you get the hang of it :)
  13. Watched it just now, pretty cool flying - now tell us honestly, how many crashes were there in the making? :D
  14. I might be wrong but I think Luthier's mentioned the intention of making some sort of dynamic campaign in the future. I think the map will be just fine - back in the Il-2 days there were some mindblowing cross-Channel missions and the Normandy map was tiny too. Although the planes had the range, the most common mission for Allied fighters at the time was ground attack, and Axis ones intercepting them. This of course is disregarding missions involving raids in Germany. For that, we need a map that goes all the way there and back - quite hard to do initially. Realistically, most missions will be ground support of troops right after the invasion, or attacks in preparation of it. There's enough room for epic dogfights there, and regardless of the size of the map it'll be some good fun :)
  15. The code is [youtube ]vc9hccbvzzq[ /youtube ], remove the spaces and it'll be good to go :) Can't watch it now tough :D
  16. Leafer, you clearly underestimate the bliss of a girlfriend with an interest for military history/aviation. Having a drink while discussing the loading system of the Navy's 5" guns used in mid-1939... That kind of thing is priceless :D And about female pilots, they're probably too busy flying the bloody missions instead of caring what some sexist dudebro's opinions are ;)
  17. Cheers SD, impressive work you're doing there with the roadmap :)
  18. Ah, TBS - the first true hint of the F/A-18C module AFAIK, how would I forget? :D As a rule: has ED announced or mentioned the module/map? If yes, it'll probably happen. Otherwise, no at least for the time being. On the topic of maps, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Corsica mentioned by RRG as a future map for DCS:WW2?
  19. I believe it was stated that donations would be possible once their website is up :)
  20. I foresee Dora pilots who didn't read this thread RTBing and declaring in-flight emergencies because of the bar:D
  21. In a great mood …unless you're gay, from the EU (particularly if you're Swedish), or in any way involved with NATO. Oh, and I forgot, if you're not Russian, you'll be denied service and human rights too. So I wouldn't be so sure :music_whistling: Anyhow, as pointed out before they're entirely different technologies and the technology demonstrated does not in any way indicate future entertainment titles. If hypothetically there was enough information on the Ka-52 publicly available (hardly possible) a committed third party could in theory try their hand at it. In theory, of course. :)
  22. Blimey, 28 pages? Really? :P I remember scrolling past a similar thread back in the Banana Forums (1C) over three years ago, I'm impressed with the longevity of this topic - I'm sure pilots have been discussing it too since 1945 :D
  23. One of the best songs and albums of this millenium :)
  24. What a well travelled serial :D
  25. I'd bet December or January, to give the poor chaps time to smooth it out... Don't want to rush 'em on an AFM, a buggy one can mess up a module big time :)
