I just swapped my 8700k to a 9900k and DCS sees a major hardware change and wants to reactivate all of my modules? When I try to do it I get some kind of unable to activate due to time error on my workstation? What's this all about? My time is fine.

Yeah the end of the year is getting bigger in the windscreen and still no fix. I hope ED stops concentrating ALL of their efforts on that @#$! F18 and starts fixing modules that we have owned for years and would like to fly again. Enough with the F18 and F14 and start giving some love to the hog and shark which made you what you are. Sheesh.

I get these frames on a 1080 with high settings and 2xAA. Doesn't sound like the 2080ti is doing much. My 1080ti is definitely faster in VR than my 1080 is but I prefer using it in my other PC that I use for most of my games since the VR rig is a dedicated simming rig. Seems to me you should be seeing a solid 60fps in most places with high settings and 2xAA with that card because I get a pretty solid 45fps with those settings on my 1080ti when I have tested it.

13.5GB update here. Not sure what the new update includes but whatever.... My DCS folder is 140GB. All maps are owned and about half of the available modules.

Can the centering spring be removed on these pedals? I would primarily be using them for helicopters and don't want any centering tension but would want to use them for fixed wing from time to time by reinserting the springs when needed.

I've never flown a real Huey but this one definitely requires attention to the EGT now and has a lot less power than before, even when unloaded. In the book Chickenhawk the pilots did seem to think that the Huey was very underpowered for what was being asked of it. I have yet to ever destroy the DCS version though unless I wanted to test the EGT limits on purpose. It does need work though and pretty much always has, particularly with the startup procedure and power/EGT.

You can always install 1.5 and play the shark like that. I do agree it needs to be fixed most ricky tick though. If not soon then it should be removed as a purchasable module on the ED store until it is fixed.

DCSFlightpanels (DCSFP) thread. Saitek Pro Flight Panels & DCS
j0nx replied to a topic in DCS Modding
Hey Artur, I am trying to redownload and reinstall flightpanels on a newly built pc and am having no luck. All the files I find look to be linux source files and there is no flightpanels.exe anywhere that I can see. All the links go to sourceforge are broken. I don't recall having any trouble a year ago when I did this but either my brain is not working right now or the files I need aren't available. The instructions in the manual also say to extract dcs-bios to your saved game folder but it doesn't say where in there it goes? -
Ah that's where it was. Thank you! No idea if that would have worked for me when I lost power to the schval and HUD targeting system but at least now it's worth a try instead of turning around and heading home.
-
Thanks all, I see that switch there. I will try that next time I lose hydraulics. I would think lowering the gear before battle would make you a bigger target and has already been said it really isn't difficult to belly land the shark anyway back at the home airfield. I seem to recall there was a way to switch computers to take over if one is damaged. Any ideas on that one?

Hi all I am fairly new to the black shark again. I was wondering if there is a way to do damage control to the shark after taking hits. For example, my HUD and Shkval went offline in a battle lastnight so is there a way to switch computers from nav to take over shkval or something like that? Hydraulics took a hit in a different battle and I couldnt get the gear down so is there a way to manually put gear down or switch hydraulics? Any resources on what I can do when damaged would be appreciated.

I think it was the reversed lights causing it. I was turning on the AP because I didn’t see the lights and it was in fact turning it off instead. Sigh. Auto hover seems to be working again from the brief flight that I took. Bugs bugs bugs.
-
I can see that the autohover anunciator light is on but it does nothing. It may be the reversed lights on the AP though since I turned them on manually because the lights were off when with the bug I think I may have turned them off instead. I'll try it later tonight and see if that is what is causing me grief.

Same problem here. I have just decided to pick the shark up again after many years and re-teaching myself the systems. Looks like I picked a great time to do that since 2.5 broke stuff. No matter what I did lastnight I was unable to enter hover hold and a lot of times my controls would freeze up and only clicking on the collective unfroze them. Thought it was something I was doing wrong. The whole module seems very buggy now. Perhaps I will need to fire up an old copy of DCS in order to play with her again. Things like this should never be allowed to be broken before a new core engine is released. They knew these easily fixable bugs were there and released it anyway.

So is SSAA working for anyone or is it just me that gets this blurcompute.fx shader problem with a crash when it is enabled? Are there any support reps here?
-
Definitely Blackhawk. Would pay anything for an accurate representation of one.
-
Yes already done that. All the basics were covered.
-
I had already went through the whole process and weeded it down to SSAA.
-
I get blurcompute.fx is deprecated errors that crash DCS on startup when I enable SSAA in non-VR. What is that error about? In VR it makes the zoom level all wrong when used but that is already a known issue. Is SSAA something that even works because for me it crashes the sim in non-VR and in VR it's unuseable due to the zoom level. I would like to try it out in non-VR but it's a hard crash with that blurcompute error.

I moved my 1080ti to my regular rig and put the 1080 back in the VR rig and am pleasantly surprised by DCS performance compared to when the 1080ti was in it. Granted, it is not as fast and smooth but it is still pretty smooth. For an episode in VR frustration and performance try P3D4 or XP11. They perform HARRIBLE in VR. Those devs should be embarrassed at the performance of both of those sims compared to DCS.
-
A couple of weeks ago I rebuilt my rig and inadvertently used the final version instead of the open beta. Is there a way to convert the final release install on my rig to open beta without having to reinstall everything, redownload everything and reconfigure all my controls? I don't have the space on my SSD for both installs anyway.
-
There's no incentive for them to add any features to these old modules. They aren't going to make any money for it so why devote the resources or make it a high priority if you do? It's simple business logic.

If you look at the GPU and CPU utilization when playing DCS in VR you will rarely see the GPU beyond 50-60% utilized and the CPU rarely beyond the same and FPS will be 35-45 in game. There is a lot more hardware in my system to use that the sim simply ignores for whatever reason. It's been that way from day one. There must be some reason for it that I don't know but throwing hardware at this is not the solution since it doesn't use it anyway beyond a certain point. I see little difference in performance between my 1080 and 1080ti in VR. The problem got much worse after the most recent version of 2.5.

I have loooong ago given up on devs supporting SLI, 3D Vision and nvidia surround. Nvidia themselves washed their hands of this technology 5 years ago or more.
