I did figure out I needed to unplug a monitor because I run surround but read after that I need oculus touch. An Xbox controller work? I’ll try that. I’m pretty sure Santa is bringing me the touch controllers but I’ll try it with the Xbox controller. I didn’t have much luck with that thing when I first installed core 2.

No didn't see any way to drag the acrobat reader outside the confines of the virtual desktop into DCS. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you said?
-
Well dang I didn't even think of doing that. One dimensional thinking not realizing the apps could be dragged off the virtual desktop! Thank you sir. I will try that later tonight.

So has anyone figured out how to pin an app running in your desktop to DCS? I can only seem to pin the entire desktop and it doesn't stay in DCS half the time even though it is pinned. I want to pin Acrobat reader with PDFs I need for procedures into DCS but can't seem to figure out how to pin JUST Acrobat reader?

I swapped out the 980ti in my VR rig for the 1080 in my daily rig the other day and performance in VR is better but still not wonderful by any means. I don't put DS on because I prefer the AA instead and maintain a solid 45fps at Vegas strip with fairly moderate to high settings. With DS on it drops into the 30's which is unacceptable. 1.5 though at Sochi is harrible. 22-45fps with nothing going on. Some places in 1.5 are very fluid like Tbilisi and other places like Sochi are just terrible for no apparent reason. I have my eye on a 1080ti and will sell my 980ti but not sure how much performance that will give me particularly for that ridiculous $750.

I just bought this module lastnight and havent had a lot of time to mess with it yet but I have a few questions. In the manual it says, "The CDI button is used to toggle between the navigational sources (GPS or VLOC) which provide output to the external indicators of the horizontal situation indicator (HSI) or the course deviation indicator (CDI.) This mode is maintained inside the instrument, and external subsystems may use it." but everything I am reading online says that the 430 does not link to the HSI or CDI. Does it provide a link to these gauges or not? Do the com and nav features of the 430 actually work and provide coms or do we still have to use the old radios? Everything I have read online says the 430 does not work for coms or nav.

Did the flight model on the mi8 get updated recently? I took a few months off from flying it and now it seems really different and much more twitchy than it did. I know with the Huey being updated recently I thought maybe the mi8 might have gotten some love too?

I know there was another thread discussing this but more than not when I intentionally overheat the engine and it fails, I immediately drop collective and gently nose up the huey with cyclic and the rotor flies away and I do my best lawn dart impersonation. I have only managed to successfully autorotate one time out of five where the rotor didn't separate. Not sure what is causing this other than potentially mast bumping because I am not over torquing. I also don't see why I would be mast bumping as I am also gentle on the cyclic during the auto. If I cut fuel in flight then I have no trouble doing an auto. It seems to be the engine catching fire and grenading that causes the rotor to separate more times than not. Any idea on this?

Yeah all of these controls makers going out of business has me worried. My ctek pedals are solid metal and weigh a ton. They are very robust and for about 2 years now have been working great. I am worried though that if they break that I am on my own. Same with Komodo who has dropped off the planet after cooing about moving to a faster production cycle. Who else besides oe-xam are the major players now?
-
Wait, so the new patch has already been implemented? Is it automatic or do I need to do something to get it? Will it come down for the 1.5 and 2.0?

Komodo Simulations Huey Cyclic and Collective Review
j0nx replied to hansangb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Man all these companies are going under or stopping production. Ctek isn’t taking any new orders either and their website is all but empty. Not cool. Hopefully these guys still support existing customers that own their products. -
Komodo Simulations Huey Cyclic and Collective Review
j0nx replied to hansangb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did komodosim go out of business? Their website is not online for many months and their facebook and twitter hasn't been updated in 3 or 4 months as well. Last I had heard they were revamping production and bringing the new site online by June 2017. What's going on with them? -
Hours and hours of practice. The Huey is by far the easiest helo to fly. The mi8 and gazelle will really challenge you if you think the Huey is hard.

Komodo Simulations Huey Cyclic and Collective Review

Has the Komodo delivery times improved since last summer when I last contacted them? At the time it was at least a six month wait for their controls. -
[Mi-8MTV2] "Vasilissa the Beautiful" HD Cockpit
j0nx replied to DirtyFret's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Hi I am trying to fix the broken radio dial that only shows 99,74 etc and using the patch 1.1 in the english and english black liveries all i get on the inside of the mi8 is camo and cant see out the cockpit. Is there a fix for the broken radio dials for the english cockpits? -
Thank you Art! That was it :) Maybe I missed that they called it that in the manual but could not figure out why the throttle wouldn't map to the collective like it should.
-
I am trying to map the throttle in the mi8 to the rolling axis on my collective and there does not appear to be any way to do it in axis mapping. The only throttle mapping there is under axis is for the two engine condition levers to the side of the collective. There does not appear to be any way to map the rolling throttle on the collective itself to an axis? What are those two levers for anyway as they are never mentioned in the startup procedures.
-
Was wondering where the support forum was for the new campaign in case I have any questions?
-
This. I want accurate engine modeling and a realistic startup. This is a fun module but as of now it's little more accurate than something you'd get in FSX.
-
I got news of a 1.5 update in the email but it shows nothing is available on any pc i try from? Want to try the new mi8 upgrades :)
-
These guys are done with this bird like the Dodosim guys are done with their 206 and Huey development. For those of you who fly the Dodo 206 in FSX you know what I mean. They may tease and tell you otherwise but it aint happening. If nothing has been done in 3+ years then nothing is happening.

Me too. with version most recent to the one they just released. I have not tested the version theyr eleased last week to see if it fixed it but the version most recent to that one was when my fps took a massive dive on 1.5. I am running ASW as well and before was always at 45fps and then all of a sudden with that one version it was many dips to low 20's. Something went amiss in the version most prior to the one released last week and may still be there with the most recent version too.

Immediate large drop in frame rate after update to V1.5.5.58891
j0nx replied to Boomer_QLD's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Me too with Rift as well. I had the ASW set to 45 and I am getting many dips to low 20's now with version prior to the most recent. I updated to the most recent build on Friday but have not had a chance to test the frame rate with this version yet. -
Installed the steam beta and same thing. No matter what I do the starter won't engage and won't start spinning the blades. I hold the home key and/or the switch on my joystick that I have bound to the engine starter and nothing happens at all. Even following the huey training cold start tutorial I can't get the starter to ever engage. It's been a while since I did a cold start but never had any issue before. What's going on here!
-
I am having major problems with the Huey in that the engine starter and throttle axis are not responding at all in the sim when the huey is loaded into a cold and dark state. They map ok in the controls section but then when I try to use them in the sim with a cold start they do not work. I am getting this behavior on both 1.5 beta and 2.0 and on 2 different machines. I think there is a new bug in the latest versions of the sims. When I start with an engine running flight the throttle axis works but not when I load a cold and dark flight. The home key doesn't even make the starter go at all regardless of what kind of flight I load. Page up page down moves the throttle when starting the flight from cold and dark but the axis binding isn't working in the sim when the flight is loaded cold and dark. I have no way to start the Huey from cold and dark because none of the starter mappings work at all. The usb controllers work fine on every other axis and in every other module. I deleted the config folder and recreated all of the binding and it still does this on both machines I have tested it on. Any ideas? Edit: figured out the throttle axis issue. If it's below the detent then the axis doesn't work until you move the throttle above the detent using the pgup key and then the axis works. This is new behavior. The starter button still will not work for me at all in the latest builds of 1.5 or 2.0 on two different pc's though...
