  1. Set DZ to 3 or 4 and it will be fine. I've tested it up to 5 which is enough to handle any discrepancy between axes. No snapping in my case.
  2. As far as I can tell after initial testing the problem has been solved in latest firmware. Will do more testing later.
  3. "The VR mentality here is cultist." :D
  4. You sure he can fit a scuba dive mask under this helmet? I am not saying he is not wearing one, just curious how he can fit it in there.
  5. If it's only for DCS, I'd not get Index. It's not that better than Rift-S for DCS and in some aspects worse, you won't be using it to its full advantage (controllers, tracking, 120Hz+ - none of this will have any effect on your DCS experience). Image quality is comparable, Index has wider FOV and you can adjust IPD mechanically if you need to. If you want to play other games, esp. room size, Index is great. ps. I have both.
  6. While I agree with "sitting in the real plane" observation, I am not sure how many people sat in a real plane (not to mention flew a real plane) wearing a fogged scuba dive mask, so it's really hard to compare VR to real.
  7. Design by committee of random people is always bad. What makes me uncomfortable is that they don't seem to be able to test their products thoroughly and/or decide to ignore obvious issues, like the one described here and release flawed products which feel rushed. Again, it's lack of competition in effect and I admit, I am adding to this problem by buying beta versions of their hardware (specifically the throttle). Unfortunately there is nothing better out there, but it's not that hard to be better than "crap". As I said I am looking forward for a 100% fix (not some clumsy workaround aka. use other button on the throttle), I am keeping my pre-order on.
  8. You are very likely right. This is very common story, esp. with companies who have weak/inadequate internal testing processes. GPU may not be fully utilized because of CPU being saturated - there are 1000s of other possible reasons though, so can't really tell.
  9. As far as I can tell after initial testing the problem has been solved in latest firmware (28 June 2019). Will do more testing later. (https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/558-vpc-configuration-tool-test-releases/). By default deadzone is set to 2 which may not be enough for locked axes to keep the same value. Raise it to 3-5 and it should work as expected. This is how it looks like with deadzone which keeps the axes together (4 to 5). Note, this is demonstrated with V1 throttle, but I don't see how this is going to be different with V3 (I'll find out soon). I have disabled physical locking (button press) in Virpil software to simulate what version 3 does by default (button in throttle axis merge set to 0/---, V3 does not have a physical button which can lock axis copy) Axes unlocked, moving only one axis. Deadzone can be set to 0 and jitter will disappear, but (at least with V1) there will be 1-3% difference in values of the axes when locked (enough to make aircraft turn), assuming that physical button (only present in V1 and V2) is disabled in software. V3 does not have a physical button which can be set up to lock the axes in the software, therefore atm it's either jitter or uneven axes values. or if the tolerances are extremely tight it may not be a problem (rather unlikely IMO due to nature of the sensors) It's about 1 to 2% jump when axis is next to each other physically. Not as massive deal as I thought, but still an issue. Not sure if this can be fixed without physical button, but we will see, maybe a slight delay between detection of two axes being close together and merge would help. ps. I am not trying to cause an outrage here, I am not going to cancel my pre-order because of this and I have no intention to use any other throttle than Vripil because IMO there is nothing better than it on the market (except when I decide to switch to full Bugeye setup or buy a real F18 ). It's an issue and I am looking forward to Virpil solving it. (just don't make me wait 3 months for new throttle then release V4 pls ;) )
  10. They have removed lock switch - I didn't notice this before. I hope they can compensate for it in software. Right now their deadzone setup idea is rather bad as it creates jitter between left and right axis. I own V1 and V3 on order, while I can live without detents, that may be a deal breaker if it's not resolved.
  11. Don't look at the basket, look at the tanker. Use lights if the tanker has them. Learn how to use throttle and how the aircraft reacts to small inputs. That's pretty much it. All "landmarks" etc. are unnecessary crutches, you will eventually develop your own, but they won't be just one "place this and that there and you will hit it" type of thing. Can you do a legit Case I recovery (F14/F18)? If you can do that, AAR shouldn't be a problem at all.
  12. Slim chances, next to none. The original author doesn't support it anymore, while it's relatively easy to fork it and fix it for 1903 it will require a driver signature which is money and significant amount of red tape to get through. There was a commednable attempt on vjoy forums, but the person who tried it got blocked by red tape and now is trying some bizarre approach of having the company they work for to sign it - in other words not going to happen no sane company will sign a driver like this one.
  13. vJoy doesn't work in 1903. Other than that no visible issues for me.
  14. Second that, speedbrake. Drop flaps/gear at 250kts while being in the turn, you won't get any "ballooning"/nose up that way. I usually break between 0.7/0.8 miles, speedbrake and 1% G turn, by the time I come out of turn I am usually trimmed and on speed.
  15. They should replace it for you with a new throttle. Mine is still working, btw, after almost a year, we will see how it goes in next couple of months.
  16. As I said, they should've announced that improvements were in, more people would notice them :). Placebo effect at its best.
  17. They don't have money/people to do it, as simple as that. It's definitely possible, there is no technical constraints preventing them from doing that. MS Flight Sim will prove it.
  18. I have found another mission which does that, attached. f18 SEAD training 74Bravo.miz
  19. Conventional Bombing Mission on Nevada hangs on "World Preload: 1/60". Did all usual cleaning, delete shaders, waited 15 minutes, repair, still no dice. No mods.
  20. Metal = quality, if heavy = high quality, plastic = toy, not realistic.:megalol: ps. F18 can take off from the boat with no catapult and with wings folded in this game.
  21. I have issue with DCS Updater launching and sitting minimized in the taskbar - no way to bring up the main window. I am on latest version. No regular windows shortcuts work (restore, maximize etc)
  22. I had one at work today and played with it for a couple of hours. There is going to be a lot of people with a need to quickly lower their expectations when it comes to quality/clarity with this one, especially if they used Rift-S/O+ or Vive Pro. The perceived improvement is really minimal (comparing to S and O+) in gaming applications. And better have top of the line system (8700K+ and 2018Ti) unless you like substandard frame rates in VR or everything on low. It's not a gaming headset. It works extremely well in low frame rate situations like design presentation and walk arounds.
  23. Still for sale. Price update on grip: Virpil CM grip only, right handed (not CM2), very good condition, used for a year, very slight signs of usage - £75 Please no low-ball offers.
  24. Thanks for review of your missus.
