Foveated rendering has to be supported by application, eg. DCS. So, until ED decides to do that (and it's not trivial) Vive Pro Eye won't be any different than Vive Pro.

Mostly single threaded game. Your system is CPU limited in DCS, it looks like it can't feed the GPU fast enough. I'd overclock the CPU and see if it helps. Bump pixel density in VR settings to 1.5-2.0 and see what happens to GPU usage. Hornet is frame rate hog atm, especially when there is lots of them scattered on the ground. I'd try different plane, Mirage/Viggen/F15, TF51 Stable 90fps is not possible in current DCS/hardware. I'd get used to ASW - it's been actually designed to make people less dizzy, how long you've been using VR? p.s. running mirror may add very small performance penalty. -
For the same reason as people with 9xx cards claim that VR is smooth and great quality. They aren't sensitive to it and can't see it/never seen any better therefore treat it as normal. The issue is definitely there. I capped my FPS at 120 (via autoexec.cfg) and live with stutters below that, thankfully on my system it rarely goes below 100fps. I have tried everything before, nothing really works. Natural Point needs to address this, they have created TrackIR when 60fp@1080 was top of the game, well, it isn't the case for a long time now. I doubt they will do anything though, we may see useable VR headsets before that ;) I can't play DCS at 60fps in 2D (don't like how it feels), so I lowered my settings despite having up to date hardware to keep FPS high.

This system won't run DCS VR at any useable quality. In my opinion 1080ti or better is minimum. 1070 will run, but with great compromises in quality which only add to already poor resolution of current VR headsets. We are at 1st generation of VR headsets. Not sure if there will be a 2nd gen anytime soon, because of poor adoption across the board, mainstream VR seems to be going the way of low powered standalone headsets/mobile phone extensions with exception of a very few super niche companies trying to develop high res headsets (which don't have any backup in gfx hardware at the moment, maybe next gen after 2080). The immersion is great (wow effect fades away after some hours though, so first contact "reviews" aren't that valid), so is 1:1 tracking but poor resolution/screen door effect and other compromises are there and very visible. Outside DCS VR is quite fun - there are games which are made for it and they look/play great. My opinion is (in DCS context) - if you have money get both, TrackIR and VR headset. If money is an issue VR is not something I'd consider. ps. I have both and use 2D monitor more, but I'd miss VR if I didn't have it.

Doesn't seem like judder issue. Do you "save device profile" after calibration? For rotary axis on the throttle grip, make sure you set center as well, as far as I remember.

1. Yes, magic spot. 2. I'd use a switch/button for that. This throttle doesn't have a lift up/paddles and it would be way too easy to accidentally go below idle and stop the engine. You can set it up with a detent in idle position and a virtual button press when crossing the detent. I had it that way for a while, but decided against it because I am used to a mechanical lock preventing the throttle from going below the idle. 3. No. It's bit fiddly but you can set this up using curves in DCS. I have set hardware detents to match the Hornet afterburner and slightly modify curves for other aircrafts (I have all modules) to match theirs. It took me about 15 minutes to figure it out for the first plane, but then it was easier, as principle is the same. It's DCS quirk. Some other sims make it much easier (a button to turn burner on and off). Mechanical detent setup is easy - loose the screws, set the throttle in position where you want the detent to be and lightly tighten the screws (have a good hex driver and use two fingers) - no need to over tighten them. You can set 4 different detents, 2 per side. I only use 2 of them set equally on both sides.

I've used default ones (soft center) for a while, then changed to no center and stayed with them. No problems with AAR with either.

The resistance I feel near the detents is nothing like "scratchy metal on metal" effect you have described. I can barely feel it, was there from day one and the feel didn't change over almost 100 hours. I'd notice if it would. I hope that support resolves it for you, looks like you have got a bad apple. -

I have 96 hours on this throttle with 69 AARs and god knows how many carrier landings, formation flying etc, (according to DCS log) since I bought it (wiped the log the day I plugged it). No signs of any friction, except slightly higher resistance around detents, was there since new. Can't be bothered to open it, I poked around this morning and it's definitely not user serviceable unlike stick base. If it ever breaks, I am just going to send it back. -

Unless the plate is made of cheese or the ball made of cutting diamond, I doubt these grooves would appear there after 3 hours of usage. They might be pre-cut (perhaps to alleviate pressure change), guessing by pictures in not very precise manner. I'll stop speculating, but it does bother me. @Cyph3r, some light on this would be much appreciated. -

Could that it be that when the ball approaches the slit, there is more pressure on the ball and it prevents it from rolling? Now, after reading what you wrote, I can potentially explain why I feel a slight increase in resistance near the detent - it may be the ball gradually getting closer to the slit (the distance between center of the bearing and the ball to the plate would shorten) and compressing the spring. I hope I am guessing wrong, as this would be slightly prone to failures like yours. Just guessing here, I am bit hesitant to disassemble mine as nothing is wrong with it. I hope the support sorts this out for you, please let us know the outcome. btw: I'd definitely not put any Nyogel (damping) in there. -
They likely have a couple of xboxes around for the personnel to play after hours too.

No they are not "vastly simpler", neither is coding of an electrical system any harder or different than most regular game systems. Flight models are an exception as they are very specialized and there is no need for them in mainstream game industry - the requirements are slightly different (feel vs "realistic") but the work involved is similar. Having said that, making games in general is hard, so I don't think releasing SDK would do what ppl think it would. At best it would produce a bunch of unfinished stuff.

Just watching the stream of F14 and the plane looks like a it was taken straight from a junkyard to have one last flight. I understand if this is the look you might be going for, is there any chance to get a well maintained aircraft texture set? Personally, I find it rather off putting and overdone.
